Can’t wait for this to come out! 🖤 EDIT: definitely very, very helpful lesson. I can confirm myself that playing tense is one of the things that are going to ruin your stamina the most. My playing has experienced a dramatic change once I understood how important is to REALLY relax
That's awesome! :) Yes, being relaxed is definitely the key, it's not easy though, you need to really be focused and aware of everything going on when you practice. Practice well my friend, and thanks for your comment !
I think that the difference between playing fast and slow is that youre not using the same muscle fibers.. so that is why you need to practice slow at first but then practice fast and calibrate at high speed because those are different fibers you have to train
Great lesson, thank you Stéphan !!! Tension was my main issue, I have started to be aware of that just a month ago and sicne then my playing has improved dramatically. Something really cool that I am doing when I face a very intricated picking pattern is to practice the right hand only with muted strings, and one it can go up to tempo I add the left one. Sometimes I practice even the left hand alone, to be sure that it's not undertrained in comparison to the right. Looking forward to the next video, live well with the people you love man
I loved it; I realized that some of them I had already incorporated in my playing throughout the years by self-practice and experimentation since I am mostly self-taught but I think it was great the way you pointed out those in a really effective way especially from your standpoint of such talent and experience. Thank you Stephan, you are definitely one of my most favorite guitarists of all time and I wish you had been more recognized since I believe you deserve far more attention and recognition but you still manage to be humble and down to earth. It's really heartwarming to see that combination of talent and humbleness
Stéphan Forté I am confident it will. Have you ever thought of talking about whammy bar technique? I know that is something I always struggle with. Trying to get those Becker sounds is hard. Not sure if anyone else has trouble but just wanted to put it out there. Thanks for replying Stephan.
Top !
Thanks for the tips! My picking hand is very tense when I play. Maybe I should really try lightening the grip... I'd like to know what kind of plectrum you use?
Hi Stephan, there are really useful tips here, thanks for the video. I have question though, are you using real amps for these demonstrations or what else you like for practicing and recording? Thank you very much. Cheers!
@@stephanforte nice! thank you! do you also use POD Farm (or other software amp sims) when you record your albums? or do you use a hardware amp modeler? or do you mic a real amp?
@@LarsBauer74 It depends, I like to reamp with my Mesa Mark IV heads, but for tracking I just record the DI signal and monitor it through my presets on the Pod Farm
@@stephanforte thank you! very cool idea. recording a DI signal leaves you with a lot of flexibility if you want to change the amp tone after recording. I'm sorry I have all these question, but I have one more: what audio interface do you use when you record your guitars like that?
Merci.
Adagio was one the best neo classical prog power band love your music Stephan .gonna say something very emotional I cried alot to the song 'promises'

"It might be Rick Graham... Master Rick Graham" said Master Forté.
Brilliant explanation. Greetings from Spain.

Definitely trigh to relax your picking grip, it's not necessary to hold it strongly, quite the opposite actually! I'm using Dunlop Jazz III ultex

Lol, well, I will try that then ;) Sure, let's be friends! :)
And here I was thinking you were an economy picker.
you say wrist but you so clearly use forearm when you increase speed. its incorrect to say your slow playing is the same tech as fast playing.
