A fun little animation I've been pushing to get done the last few weeks. There's still much I could have nitpicked over and sadly RayCast effect HATES textures with alpha maps. (transparency)
But anyway, this was a really fun experiment, and there's nothing I love more about animating
than working with the talent of awesome voice actors.
What better way to end the year than share an animation with some of my favourite FF villains!

I also had to render this in a lower res because my PC dies with so many effects.

Sephiroth and Ardyn team up is scary.
A fan animation that actually manages to not only look good but also captures the characters involved in a way that stays true to the spirit of said characters and is acted just as well? Good sir and/or madam, you have earned my subscription.
Not to mention that the characters that Ardyn teams up with makes sense.
@@Vigriff Also friggin love that Seph is cautious of him even tho he asks he joins. Very smart guy. I just see THIS as Arydn's introduction into the game (they have yet to make an official intro for Ardyn yet)

Thats why he is not in Dissidia yet. This and his moveset that is unlimited for a limited moveset game

The animation is... perfect. The movements are fluid, the dub is on-point for all the characters, especially Sephiroth and Kefka, and oh my God the dialogues! They truly respect the characters.
It is also wonderful to see how the characters aren't just moving and doing what they want, but they actually interact with each other and offer interesting confrontations. The little fight between Kefka and Sephiroth, how Kefka is interested in the chaotic nature of Ardyn and mocks the Emperor, this newborn kind of... Friendship between Ardyn and Sephiroth.
I love it. Ardyn and Sephiroth are my favourite Final Fantasy Villains. They both are deep, intriguing characters, and they both have that kind of... Serene, maleficent elegance. Ardyn's words and Sephiroth's manners truly make me respect and fear their characters more. They'd make a deadly duo.

This entire animation was inspired by my interest to have Sephiroth and Ardyn interact with one another, actually.
They are my favourite FF villains as well, and like you, I believe they would make a pretty nefarious team.
There is so much to say about this masterpiece of work.
The choice for using Sephiroth, Kefka and the Emperor is intriguing. Back in the original cycles, most of the villains could be divided between the conquerors and the destroyers. Kefka and the Emperor are pure in that they each follow their desires, destruction and control respectively, where as Sephiroth refused to align himself with either group. The clown and the tyrant talked about it as well.
It's funny how Kefka says that he'll destroy Heaven and Hell after he dies, because the Emperor managed to conquer both after he was killed the first time. Let's not forget that one of his most dangerous qualities is that it's hard to take him seriously. Many dismiss him as the fool and that's just what he likes.
The Emperor may desire dominion over all, but he's not an idiot. He's aware that the other warriors rival him in power and so he plays it safe until he can find the winning hand.
And then there's Ardyn, whose actions brought about destruction, but it is not what motivates him. He's very good at telling others what they want to hear. Like Sephiroth, he used to be a good man, but he fell from grace for verrrrrrrrry different reasons.
There's a lot more to say but I'm not sure I could do it justice. I love crossovers so much and this was just so extremely well done. I wish there was more canon versions of this, but at least I have Dissidia Opera Omnia.
opera omnia is no better than NT when it comes with certain characters tbh
@@redblackjester Perhaps. It's probably difficult juggling the personalities of so many different characters. At least the story is still going and the gameplay is more enjoyable than NT. At least for me.
And here I'm contemplating on the reasons why this isn't cannon???? This was so good. Everyone is perfectly in-character. The storyline fits the game. Gorgeous animation, (Ureshiiiiii darling, don't fret about the rendering. You're not a powerhouse, multi-million gaming studio). This is incredible. Applause to all who worked on it!!!
Seriously impressed with this, it makes me sad this probably won't happen.

Square Enix should hire you as a director. I absolutely loved this, seeing Ardyn interacting with the villains. The voice cast was on point and especially enjoyed the performances of Fiery Joker and Sarifus, as Kefka and Ardyn respectively. Hope to see more from you and more of project M this year. Happy New year.

Barely a few seconds into the video and I'm already blown away by how cinematic and smooth the animation is! I couldn't believe this wasn't part of the game itself :0 Amazing work for an MMD!! Also a big kudos to all the VA cast. They did extremely well!!

Absolutely incredible! I've seen more character development and discussions in this than NT. I'm heavily impressed. Were this any longer I would've needed a full take out from Sonic or something.

Great work on making this and the voice work was great Dr. Wolf was quite chilling as Emperor Mateus, Josh was a total ham as Kefka, Aussie did really well as Sephiroth and Sarifus pulled off a splendid performance as Ardyn. Bravo to you all

With that away, OHMIGOSH, this is amazing!! All of you guys did such amazing job! The animation is as gorgeous as it can go with MMD and at some points, it felt like an official cut scene. Voice acting sounds almost professional, I especially enjoyed josh's performance as Kefka. And while, I believe, no one can mimic Darin de Paul's voice completely, Sarifus range, smoothness and tone are closest to a perfect I've witnessed so far. And I also loved how well written this is, and how everyone was managed to keep so IC. As a writer, it can be hard task, but damn, you guys did it just right!
Overall, this is a+ work, if you ask me. I cannot wait for more to come for you, ureshiiiiii!

I sincerely hope so, as well. Sephiroth has had his time in the spotlight with Kingdom Heart guest appearances, to be honest.

Love the detail in this, the "boing" in Kefka's step and the dialogue i wish the villains and heros had this sort of chemistry in the games!!!
I love how this scene is more serious than the very game. It was such an artistic piece of a scene, to see how everything was in its place, the lines and dialogues match with the characters and you have done a great job.

Van-garrett Johnson The story mode lacks any proper character interaction, rather they’re mostly just standing around talking without many interesting animation points. And the choices of said character interactions are poorly arranged.

Who the heck voiced Ardyn?? His actor mimics Darin DePaul perfectly, but still makes it his own. I legit would not mind this guy being Ardyn if DePaul couldn't come back for Dissidia
Oh, wow - thanks very much Magnus! Glad you liked! That was exactly what I was going for - channeling a lot of Darin's sound but trying to be flexible within that. I love Darin in the role, and I also really enjoy what the French actor did, who was very smooth and suave and natural with it. So I tried to take some of that on board. Ardyn is my favourite character, so writing his dialogue and voicing him in this was wonderful to get to do.

It finally happened though, now we can pit Ardyn, Noctis and Vaine against Bahamut.
The models look great! When I saw them in Dissidia NT, I wanted them so bad. Your animation is flawless, I love how you care for the small details, like Kefka's hair flowing slightly. I am so smitten with the voice acting, they are on point and without doubt, Sephiroth looks stunning. I can't wait to see the next video! Needless to say that I love your work.
So Ardyn inspired Sephiroth to try and meddle with the fate of Gaia, which in turn forced the planet to create the Keepers of Fate.
Damn, this is some awesome animation. The voice acting and the story is spot on too. I would be surprised that this would be part of the game.

This low-key would be an amazing series and I would watch the hell out of it. Then again, I already watch the hell out of anything that has Ardyn in it... This was pretty damn amazing and though it is unlikely to happen; I can see the chance.
Glad you enjoyed it! It won't become a series, per se, but we are planning to make more of these. And I'd honestly find any excuse just to animate Ardyn.
I don't blame you, I would too. For now, I just stick with writing and doing artwork for him. I've been in Ardyn hell the past month or so and I am not willing to leave any time soon.
Dragon Lich Queen Oh, I can relate with that. I think it has a lot to do with the anime and his upcoming DLC. I would do artwork if I was any good at drawing, so I just stick with animating. At least it’s what I love.
