It must be real frustrating for Bugge to see these negative comments... all I can say as a pianist for 25 years now is that this really rocks... its like he took over the baton from Herbie Hancocks Mwandishi period.. maybe Eddie Henderson/Hal Galper all those guys... before they all went disco... Bugge is one of the only guys progressing the genre... most other guys want jazz to remain a historical artefact
Thanks Bugge, hope you read this, your music took me on to loads of good stuff I'd never have heard otherwise. I'm now a pro musician and you're in part responsible! Big up you, your musicians and your family!
Brilliant! "New conception" is no exaggeration of what you do Bugge - I love jazz from 50s to now, but you have modernised it like no-one else has quite been able, and the collective improvisation and spirit is comparable to greats like Mingus or even Miles circa 1964... keep creating!
@ Bugge Wesseltoft..this is great man! Would love to have this on record! I recently discovered your music and been listening to your album New Conception almost continue isly for the past month or so.. JUst love the track El.. Any chance of ever coming to SSOuth Africa :) ? THanks for your beautiful music!
Of course everyone is learning from Miles and Herbie. In this respect hardly anything has changed since the 70's. I like Bugge's playing and Sco is a master :) but I don't see a new conception of jazz in just adding a beat and some electro sounds though...anyway, thanx for sharing and all the best!
zooglemop, you are so out of time man, of course the duke and the count were great, but how do you think they would play if they were alive NOW. You just go on and make Rembrandt paintings, compose like Telemann, read the bible as a good novel and be happy. we go on and invent and explore they outer boarders of music. VIVA BUGGE! creatitivity on the f....insyant.RESPECT!
zooglemop, as drumdik said: you are so out of time. But also, do the homework! You can't compare The Duke and the Count with these guys! If you'd come up with miles davis I'd seriously listen to you. So first try comparing Duke and Miles.... thats like comparing an apple to a potatoe: NOT!!!
