The difference between 3rd and 6th is 3rd is not giving up, 6th is quitting.

Lee will always remember his last college match getting stuck, when it should've been a dominant match at 3rd place, he should've taken his loss out on wrestlers on the backside of the bracket

I agree with you saying devastating feelings when a child has lost a match, I always felt bad for my Dad, I never wanted to lose a match, he felt the pain of the loss with me. Anyone can lose on any given day, it's hard to bring your A game, all the time, it's that simple

You obviously don’t know Spencer, great human

Spencer lost his 4th State title bid as well. And he was in the Arena for his teammates during the constellation matches, which made me feel better about him Med withdrawing, but at the end of the day, it is on him to live with that. But I do agree, I feel for RBY losing as he did as well and I am an Iowa Boy, wrestled in the state, and am a huge lifelong Iowa fan, but I can watch a match and feel joy for a winner and sorrow for a loser as well.

Bro, obviously Mrs.Lee crushed those glasses out of anger.. She was a high class competitive athlete herself, she knows the costs of winning and losing.. Also, the pressure put on by parents can be more difficult to carry than anything else. I guarantee Spencer feels more of a responsibility to win for his parents sake than he does coach Brands. It can be unhealthy mentally, I pray Spencer gets through this and shines for USA wrestling 🙏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇲

Cael puts no one on a pedestal, and age 25 is not a kid.

Do we know what the medical issue was for Spencer? Were we there when he and the medical staff made the decision to medical forfeit? Maybe there’s something wrong with him physically?

I’m just browsing and never heard about this kid until the past two months as my kids told me. But I coached football for 15 years and I always said that the worst things about youth sports through high school was the parents. Being yelled at because Billy only got 30 rushing attempts etc

Gregs will dominate next year. This was his first year being healthy for the most part..Still was giving up 30 lbs in the match.that match can down to Greg not finishing that single in the first. He finishes thatcits his Title..

I don’t want to judge anyone but the I must agree, as I truly feel the typical (or maybe healthy) reaction for wrestling parents seems to be more along the lines of “devastation and sorrow” for your kid ….not anger. Many kids work just as long and obviously lose far more often. My son once told me that he was more upset about losing because he was worried that I’d be disappointed. Needless to say, that forced me to take a good long hard look @ myself. However, even in that moment, I knew it was always, only about my concern for his feelings… Eventually, he learned a good bit about just how overwhelming a parent’s empathy towards their child can be and I learned to make sure to express myself in a way in which allowed him and others to much better understand the thoughts behind my emotions.

I get Mrs Lee's Reaction. Her son was so close to fulfilling his dream.

We know about immature people that revel in misfortune. It's called jealous schadenfreude.
