Certainly NOT too boring, I've thoroughly enjoyed this video and hope to see more like it in the future! Everyone who does an allotment vlog ought to do plot walkarounds at least once a year.
Thanks for the tour. Great looking site. Looks like everyone's put in a ton of work making it so. Tell them it is appreciated for me, ok? His name is Dan, of Allotment Diary. I'm growing spuds in pots now because of him, too.
Great site tour !! everyone's plot look well maintained for an average a allotment site !! I not got an allotment myself but I do grow loads of fruit and vegetables in my garden !!
Hi Chris lovely to see the walk around always nice to see different things people do our plots are not as tidy as yours be we all do our best except there are always the few that let it down Look forward to more of your videos nice to sit and watch with a cup of coffee Have a great time in Edinburgh Take care Pam :)
Really enjoyed the early morning walk around the Plots! The site is so very well cared for, unlike ours that have too many empty Plots that are left to overgrow. But then that's the difference between your and mine. Mine is run by the local Council, who doesn't seem to bother one way or another! Such a waste when you think of all the hard work the generations before put in to get the soil at the point it is. All the best, Chris, sorry for my rant, its just that I feel so strongly about it. Hope you have a wonderful time in Edinburgh, I'm so jealous! Speak soon:)))
Had a lovely time up in Edinburgh the sun was with us the whole time we were there :o) There isn't and council run sites in my town. They're all owned by the but rented to allotment society who in turn rent the plots to individual members of the society. By the sounds of it it works out better for all and the plots a cheaper to i think. £22 half plot,£35 full plot. Chris.
+Allotment Journal hi Chris, so glad you had good weather in Edinburgh. We pay £42 per plot a year, but that's with discount for being pensioners. It would have been£70 per plot and it's all according to the size. All the best👍😀.
It must be so cool to garden in close proximity to others that are like minded. Are the plots in the UK standard sizes? Would you mind telling me how much they cost? Is there a height restriction on what you can grow so you don't shade out your neighbours? When you have a plot and build a shed - do you have to leave it? Do you receive compensation? Sorry for all the questions, but I find the concept of allotments very interesting. Potatoes in pots is Dan :)
Thanks for watching. On our site there are a lot of different sized plots its just pot luck which ones vecent when your name comes up to the top of the list. Even though there are a lot of different sized plots they are classed as full plot or a half plot. I have two half pots that cost me £44 a year ($64'ish) Full plots are £35 ($50'ish). As long as you don't shade out your neighbours there isn't any real height restriction. You can only grow dwarf fruit trees. You do what you want with the shed when you leave the plot but most people sell it the the new tenant. I have moved a few greenhouse though. Thanks for watching. BTW I knew it was Dan with the potato pots I was just joking ;oP Chris.
Hi Chris, I really wish we had somebody like you on our council, allegedly they are supposed to do site inspections, and get give a fortnights notice to tidy up or get off, I doubt it's enforced! You should see the state of some of them, they are absolutely riddled with junk, old settees etc, it's a shame as we have a five year waiting list. Your site looks brilliant :-) Also, why is it on your site when people "move on" the plots are still so tidy? You should see the state of our plot neighbour when they gave theirs up......weeds......weeds.....and weed seeds.....Cheers mate, Ryan
Hi Ryan. To be fair not all the plots are left tidy. When I wasn't working and on the committee myself and some old boys from the committee would clear the worst of the mess from the vacant plots as we've found it quicker that way to relet the plots and keep the money coming in the the allotment society. I have dug a few vacants over before now. They say for every years a plot go's to seed its 5 years of weeds!! Chris.
good video that pal allways nice to have a nosey at other peoples plots lol ... On some of the plots what was the white stuff that was around some of the plants ??
The white stuff would be garden lime. It's put round brassicas to neutralise the soil that's been prepared with manure over winter. Thanks for watching. Chris 👍

There's not a better way to begin the day, than being out in the garden before the crush, and nothing but the birds talking to you. Thanks, Chris!
I love getting down there early Steve. Thats when I get the most work done tbh. Cheers. Chris.
