Thank you. I followed the same cleaning steps and the idea worked. You are following from Dubai
Just ordered a small box of replacement pads from Amazon - thanks for the tip!
Me too
I use tin foil on my remotes, it works just as well. If your fixing lots of remotes then your method makes sense, but for a one off tin foil is the way to go 🙂
Great, i didn't try that, thanks for info,
What kind of glue works best?
@@WillPOnya rubber cyanoacrylate, or black super glue is best, but any super glue will do 👍🏻
@@trooperwolfie - thank you. I really can't imagine any glue sticking to silicone due to the oil.
I have to clean the circuit board once or twice a week on my remote. Alcohol just won't last so i use a pencil eraser to remove all the black stuff from the switches. And an emery board to clean the black stuff off the eraser for the next cleaning.

Thanks. I didn't even know that you can buy those pads. I was planning to implement 3d printed button and put something conductive below it. But this would be much better solution. Thanks, I'll buy these when next encounter worn remote.
Mine is also having this problem. If you have found any solution please let me know. Thanks
Well done! that was a little surgery :) Is a much better solution than buying any weird universal remote
I fix High End Audio, most of the times remotes cost over Us$400 dollars.
Costumers pay Us$100 dollars or more for fix it with a big smile.
Tha k you for this pointer.. In the past I have used the metal disks (used inside the simple pcb mounted switches) and glued on the pcb itself as a fix. I didn't know you can buy the conductive patches.
Professional technitian.👍
Faaar from that but thanks anyway.
Very nice! I have a keypad with two buttons not working but the track/trace/pad on the PCB seems to conduct badly. The track/trace/pad on the PCB it's color is lighter than the other working ones. Is there a way to fix it?
❤ very nice information
Thank you. I think I will use a pencil to draw a circle on a bits of paper, then paste it to the button pads, as your method.
Thanks, well explained thorough video. Is that cyanoacrylate glue (superglue) ?
where did you bought the pad? last week Im repairing my failed car climate console button and couldnt find the replacement ended up gluing aluminium foil on the pad dont know how long it will last
There is a link to ebay under the video, search ebay for button pad kit
@@TinC33 thanks mate
can you use other conductive material, like conductive metal tape? or does it have to be conductive rubber pads?
I use tin foil (video on my channel 😉) it works just as well.
Use an old unused remote controller as spare pads. Mine worked without problems :)
Question for you, in this example, is it likly that when trying to use the remote none of the buttons work?
Or would it be just the one button causing problem?
My remote (the same as in video) has just stopped working.
If non button don't work then i start checking for power issue, check and clean the contacts on battery, try to measure if you got any voltage on pcb... If some button not working it's a button problem, but surly not if noone doesn't work.
@TinC33 OK Tin thanks for the response 👍
@@mywateva mine broke no buttons worked,so tested the ir led and it was broke ,put new one in and guess what ? It worked 👍
@@gordonemery6949 I did the same and guess what? It still doesn't work... :( The led was broken and the new one now works (tested with multimeter), but the remote still doesn't activate it. There must be something else wrong. Power supply also makes it through into the board, tested it. I tried button pads from another remote, no luck either. The pads from the broken one work on another remote though.
I just repaired mine using superglue and kitchen foil. It did the trick.
Hello, can you please confirm the type of glue that you used. Thank you.
It is ca, cianokol glue, super glue, one second glue...
que pegamento usas para esa silicona?
El usó Loctite super attak, pero puedes usar cualquier cianoacrilato.
very good info, TY if i can fix my button issue i can save about 1600$ :)
what kind of glue did you use ? i heard C A glue ... is that right ?
Yes but rubber glue is better, in any case Sand a bit surface before
I have no meeter, l repair my remot successfuly bt voice+ button not worked solve my problem plz
