No, no, there’s plenty of stuff like this being made right now. But SCTV was always smart about their comedy, which is why so much of it- to me, all of it!- is still funny now.
Omg! The Babe Ruth skit was very similar to Seinfeld episode where Kramer has to get Autographed birthday card of Steinbrenner's back from the sick little boy.
Man I wish someone would run this show on the regular. Today we've got crap like Impractical Jokers and the sub par comedy that tries to pass off as funny. I dunno if its my age or what but entertainment as a whole has pretty much gone down the tubes. There are some exceptions though. I was one of those awaiting the return of Roseanne only to have that ripped out from under me but that's the kind of ensemble cast television that we could use right now. I do like The Conners which is a testament to those remaining actors on that show but a part of me still wishes they'd bring Rosie back, even if she was just a ghost meddling with her family's affairs. Crazy, yes but I miss that show.
John Candy as Orson Welles.. LMFAO.. he does him so perfectly!
Dave Thomas as Liberace likewise, both geniuses.
Orson casually walked away with the turkey!! Priceless!
Best part of the Babe Ruth bit was the very end:
_"And Babe, could you stand on your head?"_
_"I'll stand on your head!_
He just makes off with the turkey 😆
I Loved and miss this show so much. R.I.P. John Candy you fabulous and talented man.
Oh my god, that yellow belly skit would never get the green light today!🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was hilarious!!!
That kid did a perfect flop!
I know, I felt guilty laughing at it. It was just sooo funny.
His shaked are too good 😂

RIP John Candy, great comedian and a great actor.
As a child you were my favorite, same today. The day you passed we lost an incredible human.
Dave Thomas,Liberace is spot on! This is one of my favorite skits. John Candy nails it as Orson!
I thought that it was Liberace! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Inside the park home run!!! LOL

We miss you, John. Can't wait to see you again.
a Genius we lost far too soon...
"You people are pests. No money is worth of this." Did they already knew about frozen pea commercial tapes?
Yep!
I always loved as CTV watch it when it was on miss it bring back the funny TV shit today sucks rest in peace John Candy
2:00 I have so much nostalgia for the late 1970s Christmas specials, family celebrations, and even the decorations. This sketch sums it all up!
RIP John, what a legend! Perfect impression, except the real Welles cursed like a sailor. Obviously, the network wouldn’t allow it in those days.
This is a significant improvement over The Babe Ruth Story.
Yellowbelly is amazing!
RIP big buddy... you were always a favorite of mine.

His Orson is uncanny lmao
Seinfeld may have "honored" the Babe Ruth bit.
You can tell the crowd does not know anything about the frozen peas orson welles recordings lol
The kid was John Candy’s nephew
That kid always funny too!
He was moving! Yes you! You’re taking up valuable air!
Hahaha!! He shot the kid!!! That would never fly today!!
In the back!
I just learned that Seinfeld stole that Babe Ruth skit.
Seinfeld?😮🤓😎✌🏻
The sick kid in the hospital in Seinfeld.
A comic genius
Crumbed, crisp coating.
the babe ruth bit was quite similar to a seinfeld episode.
You mean the other way around!
I wouldn’t rehearse an actor in Shakespeare like this…
Yellowbelly
I just found out haloopniks are real and had to check them out on the Schmege Brothers Christmas Special
He looks like steven segal
Of course yes, do mote
