This is one of the rare TV shows I watched religiously as the seasons aired…I remember this fondly thinking what great writing and acting for a TV sitcom
Maura obviously can act, but most of her presence on the show is more in reaction to people than necessarily executing a funny bit or joke... comedy is not really her forte... and that's ok, not everybody can be naturally funny.
I have obtained, at great personal risk, more of the exchange.... What's lovely? Pretty with a nice personality. What's winsome? Pretty with big eyes. What's toothsome? Pretty with a great orthodontist. What's glamorous? Pretty with an agent. What's handsome? Pretty in the 19th century. What's comely? Pretty in the 18th century. What's ravishing? Sexy with Old Money.
I'm pretty sure the date they leave shows on is when it last aired a new episode. If you notice shows you watch on Netflix will come out let's say in 2018 but then eventually change the date to 2020 if that's the last year a episode came out.
Girlfriend of mine from the black and white TV days once found a definition of Cute as "interesting but ugly". Henceforth whenever anyone called her that she looked like she wanted to stab them. For the record she was pretty in a very unique way. But according to newsradio she was short enough to be cute.
Assume a mid range of around 5’6” to 5’10” for men. Shorter is short taller is tall. Drop the range about two inches for women so 5’4” to 5’8” is mid range
Am I the only girl who actually takes "cute" as a tiny insult? Like, it's filler when someone doesn't think you're good looking enough to call "pretty"?
Disagree, I think she’s very pretty. However, you could throw Kate Hudson in there. Basically, it’s a girl with a nice face and good body, but doesn’t quite have the major sex appeal (ie Tits & ass).
I would be striking, pretty with a big nose. I’d rather call it attractive. I think we’ve been of the most devaluated women in history, we’ve always been called ugly and we’ve had to work twice as hard to look and feel good. It’s not fair.
When you start splitting hairs like this over what's "cute" and "pretty" and etc, you're really just backing yourself into a corner. And when you start telling other women your theories and categorizing them (and you know a woman will ask to be categorized), you're just going to make enemies everywhere. Yes, Tierney is cute. You know why? Because she's so little. And so is Lewis. And Alexander is sexy. Now move on.
Beth's nomenclature is spot-on and the way I have used those words ever since I saw this episode.
I'd quibble a bit with some of these, but for a minute and a half discussion these are very good summaries.
That's good writing.
Maura is pretty and cute and beautiful... even after all these decades I rewatch this show and reminded of why I had a huge crush on her in this show
Exotic: Pretty and foreign
Good one...:-)
Bingo.
Yeah I didn't like the ugly they threw in there. It wasn't true
I agree. She makes me melt when I see her on screen or TV.
This is still how I categorize women to this day. But seriously, they were right on the money with this.
"Any girl can be glamorous. All you have to do is stand still and look stupid." - Hedy Lamarr
lol, how Catherine got all flustered at being called sexy.
Vicki Lewis is smoking hot. Thanks for posting this!
Man, yes she is...!!! Great show...!!!
Wow! Beth called Catherine "easy." Funny!
They cut out the best part. Catherine and Lisa in the bathroom having another exchange on cutest reporter
We need more NewsRadio in 2018, for real.
I am from the future. Your 2018 is dead.
Amen. 2021 needs it more than anything else
@@BeeHatGuy And 2022
Khandi Alexander is a goddess.
One of the best scenes ever put on TV…
I can’t believe…someone clipped it …
This is one of the rare TV shows I watched religiously as the seasons aired…I remember this fondly thinking what great writing and acting for a TV sitcom
Honestly, I didn't think I would ever see Maura in a sitcom. But she's amazing!
I never heard of her until I saw her in this sitcom.
Maura obviously can act, but most of her presence on the show is more in reaction to people than necessarily executing a funny bit or joke... comedy is not really her forte... and that's ok, not everybody can be naturally funny.
She makes a lot of sense
I have obtained, at great personal risk, more of the exchange....

I am "striking". ;)
Sprucy **** Well, I’m voluptuous, so we can be less than cute together.

I'm exotic.
I would be voluptuous; pretty and fat.
Maura is HOT!
Maura's cute as fuck.
And she was ruined sexually, morally and spiritually decades ago by the (goblins) that run the hollywood sewerpipe.
@@russellweber4334 is there a reason you keep restating that?
@@bossfan49 He's not wrong though.
Exotic: Pretty and not white. 😁
Nope, foreign from a country you don't see a ton of people from, so they could be white.
Lol. Hilarious.
Okay Beth is cute I’ll give her that. But She’s NOT a reporter!! The award was “cutest reporter” not cutest news secretary!
Haha
Wouldn't say "hot", shes cute though.
There's somebody else in this clip besides Tierney? I didn't even notice...
Exotic is the furthest from ugly… or at least a top contender.
Exotic doesn't indicate any level of beauty. It just means different, unusual, foreign.
How does height work for cute and beautiful?
Is it in relevance to the observer, or are there certain heights for 'short' average and 'tall'?
Assume a mid range of around 5’6” to 5’10” for men.
Shorter is short taller is tall.
Drop the range about two inches for women so 5’4” to 5’8” is mid range
Bulls**t, she's cute.

No, you don't. You're trying blur the lines with the other behavior that could get you accused of sexual assault.
You're not the only one, but you are wrong.
cute does not HAVE to be short
Short and/or hyperactive, Beth said.
Here’s my modern classification system with recent examples:
Cute: Emma Stone
Pretty: Claire Danes
Gorgeous: Scarlet Johansson

I don't think you know much about history if you think you're the most devaluated in allnof history.

@monokhem I saw this episode before---"RAP".
