    I'll have to tinker with my Regal and Ultegra this off season. Do you have a how to video on greasing your reels? I'll have to purchase your drag grease and get them ready for this coming spring

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Рік тому +2

      all reels are a little different. I don't have a good video, even though i do talk about it every time i open a reel.
      My grease is only for drag and nowhere else in ultralight reels. Well there is one other spot but its hard to explain. Under the oscillation gear there is a S-shaped bed where the oscillation pin runs. There its good to use my grease as its heavy and will smooth down operations for a long time. But nowhere else. It is waterproof and stays on teeth for a long time and offers excellent protection, but adds a lot of resistance, which you don't want in UL reel. Adding resistance is the whole point i use it on the drag, to slow it down and get rid of surging.

    scratching noises that you cant locate, its coming from the line roller (thats why you cant located it with ur ears, its always moving).. I started getting a scratching noise this weekend on my 2000s-p and I dipped just the line roller in the water and went away. its not for switching your whole type of fishing. I wonder why people don't get just one package to try them. So much noise about them and people are not even curious. Bearings will not improve your fishing, but a matching set of my floats and jigs will. You will see things you have never seen before. The information transfer is from a different world. For the record, i don't need 4 dollars for a pack of jigs. I make a good living without any of this at all. How heavy it's the rod ? Before taking fishing in serious, i bought a rod from a chinese well known site, with 30 bucks, that has only 60 grams for 200 cm (fuji guides, T30 carbon fiber construction). The rod it's quite a good quality, and with the reel (another chinese thing : kastking VE2), i arrive at 206 grams in total. Everything was 70 bucks and it's quite good for perch fishing with micro cranks, micro spinners and micro lures.

    Do you prefer shallow spool or deep spool for more line capacity like in the American for size 500-2000 reel? Have you ever did a video covering this topic?s

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Рік тому +1

      I like the current Japanese shallow spools, even though i have to put backing even on them, because my line is so thin. But i don't mind a little backing. I put backing one time, for the entire life of the reel. Backing helps hide the knot that connects the two lines, u can cinch it and hide it there. I don't feel strongly on this subject, i think both daiwa and shimano have good variety of spools offered. I also don't hate deep spools, even though i don't use them. If you want to use spinning reel for trolling or in saltwater or cast from a bridge or something... u may need more line capacity. As long as both are available, i have no complaints

    Great video! I am a huge fan of Daiwa reels and use an Exceler for one of my bass rods. I'm ordering a light (50g) UL rod fro Japan right now, a Major Craft, and am thinking of pairing with a 1000 Legalis, Exceler, or Fuego. In your opinion would this be too heavy of a reel? Spending 3/4x for a Presso is tough to swallow to save 1.2 ounces. Is there something else you might recommend in 1000 size? Thanks

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  11 місяців тому +1

      the new Legalis 1000 or 2000 would be perfect for that rod! I agree, no need for presso for that rod and in some ways the Legalis is better than the Presso. FOr example i like the drag and the drag sound of the legalis better. You can go to my shop and order 4 bearings for your legalis. Two of them replace the plastic busihings in the knob, and the other two replace the plastic bushings in the line roller. U will have a legalis with more bearings than a Presso : )

    Reel looks beautiful in the sunlight. I just picked up 4 miravel reels for less than $65 each delivered (an offer I couldn't refuse), so maybe I won't be buying legalis this year. The one problem I discovered with miravel ( I'm sure Sahara same) the oscillation gear seems to spin on frame of reel which maybe bit garbage for longevity.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Рік тому +1

      No, it is not garbage, there is no pressure at all on that gear. None, whatsoever! All the pressure is on the rotor and main gear. This simply moves spool up and down but not connected to rotor.

      Sedona doesnt have a bearing under the pinion. If u dont know what that means then maybe it doesnt matter for u anyway. Other than that and the extra weight, it feels very nice.
      As for line, 2 lb is enough for 10 lb catfish, 4 lb is enough for 20 lb catfish and 6 lb is enough for 40 lb catfish. Assuming u catch less than 40 lb fosh - yes, enough.

    Brother V I decided to buy a few of these just because I have 3 boys and I wanted them to each have one for ultra light fishing. I couldn't find a 7' Presso which suprised me. I ended up getting St. Croix panfish series for them and I hope they have the feel the Presso has. At twice the cost they should. I want to tell you that I am certain without any shadow of a doubt you are selling more Diawa and Shimano reels than the companies advertizers are. Easily. Same thing with the Larva ZMan and they absolutely know it. Those folks should hang their head in shame for not sending you a box full as a thank you and to me they are fools for not asking you to do a photo with their product and use it to advertize.
    Greedy people and not very smart in my opinion.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Рік тому +5

      let me know what u think about the new St Croix panfish. I hated the old one, as it has a stiff blank and then the tip was too soft and wobbly even for me, but weird thing is only the tip was unstable, not the whole rod. Extremely rare action. I hope they improved that, but let me know.
      You know, i never asked any of these companies for money or discounts. I can buy anything i want just fine and don't want any obligations for a pack of lures. What i asked them is for some kind of partnership, completely free, where i will help them design a lure (ZMAN) or rod (Daiwa, Shimano). Recognition from a big company that my opinion is appreciated is much more valuable to me than a discount or some freebies. Find my review of the release of Daiwa Luvias. I bashed the drag sound so hard. Look at the time stamp. Then google other Luvias reviews. U will see people start to mention the drag sound is too muffled. But look at the time stamps - after my review. Anyway, there is benefit in people copying me because together we made so much noise that both daiwa and shimano decided this is an important issue. Now all new Legalis family reels and Sahara family reels come out with loud and crisp sound! The surging drag was also addressed in this release! The resistance was addressed with the next release of the Luvias (Presso) . I know that my videos are reaching them through some channel. Maybe they don't watch me directly but they do have people who forward to them if i say something that they should consider. Of course they never returned my email either : )
      But now that i have my little tackle shop, i feel i don't care as much as before. I can make a grease for their drag, i can make felt for their carbon, i can make my own jigs and clips and floats and lures and don't need none of them no more. And one day, when i have 5 000 registered customers in my database and economics become viable, i will fly to china and select everything and make my own rod too.

      I know you will Victor and I will be first in line to purchase your products. I knew years ago when I saw a video of yours for the first time you were an engineer. Just by the way you broke down details and desribed things you simply get the physics of an object. I hope you design and create everything from line to a rod. The i_fish brand will lead the pack. Money is not the objective. Fit, function and practicality seem to be your drivers. When a person doesn't chase a dollar you can tell. To me success isn't a bucket of money. Sucess is the satifaction of knowing you achived what you set out to achive and then feeling proud of all your hard work. I read the other comments here and it's clear to me there are a lot of people like myself pulling for you. @@ifishcatfish
