Hence it got the name 'Vijayadasami'. On Vijayadashami, wake up at 5 am, take a clean bath and wear red clothes. Puja mandir and house should be cleaned and the porch should be painted with turmeric and saffron drops should be put on it and colorful mugs should be put on it. The idols of Rajarajeshwari and Durga should be decorated with black lilies and red flowers. Pongali and Pulihora should be prepared for the offering. Prepare a sesame lamp with 9 wicks for Dipradhana. After starting the puja.. Rajarajeshwari Ashtakam and Mahishasura Samharini Ashtakam should be recited. If it is not possible, chant the mantra 'Shri Matre Namah' 108 times and offer camphor aarti.
