Best content channel on barbering imo! Been watching you big dog for years now. Watched for years as Someone that cut hair on the side. Now I watch as a licensed barber with my own shop. Thank you for always giving nuggets and game away for free. Not just pertaining to this industry but faith as well. 🙏🏽✝️👊🏽
Yup that system is what Ive been using for years. Super quick and takes all the guess work out of deciding which guards you need to use. Any hair longer than the 1 1/2 I just use scissor over comb. I do the steps a little differently but still it’s the most efficient system for speed and consistency in my opinion. Nice cut!
Yessur!! Can’t remember when I figured it out but I was like “there’s gotta be a more efficient way”. Took a min to get used to but it works. JRL Onyx go crazy too
I use this technique personally i prefer doing this technique with an actual 0 guard not a wahl .5. You can do it with both but the wahl half guard cuts much closer than a typical 0 guard does. Which means open all the way takes more effort to blend into the 1.5. I love the technique personally it saves so much time. I do prefer doing fading up from the skin to the blade open but then fading down with the 1.5 open to the 0 closed. To me its more efficient than using the 0 guard first then the 1.5 because its hard to blend it like that you almost always end up having to grab the 0 guard again which at that point you should probably just grab the 1 guard if you have to grab the 0 again. If you do prefer using the .5 guard from wahl you can blend it into the 1.5 closed by scooping out without touching the head and free hand it into the 1.5 because it cuts too close if you dont. Saves a lot of corner blending work too. You can also scoop while using the heel of the blade and that works also
I use the stylecraft 0, jrl .5 or the andis 0 works best with this technique. depending on the 1.5 guard you use you may have to flick more to blend the line in. It just depends. I use stylecraft dubs 0 guard and the 1.5 because i like how flush the 1.5 guard cuts compared to others it just speeds up the process way faster. Once you get used to how much you need to flick or freehand to get the line out its easy and probably the fastest 2 guard technique out there. Same with the andis guards the 0 and the 1.5 blend in the same way
I learned this system from a Brazilian Barber and my fades have been a lot more blurrier and smoother. And it’s cut my time I’m down. At first I struggled to get used not using the 1 guard. But overall great system
Great job!!! Squeak is a great barber I've followed him for years..I remember he use to use the 1&2 guard technique before he switched to this one both are amazing techniques that gives great results..
only thing I would recommend is using the jrl "0" or "1/2" guard. everything else has issues lifting the hair off the head. JRL half guard for me is the best half guard directly behind the OG andis purple 0 guard
Wow that cut was amazing. Truly talented and have perfected your craft. The S.Craft name suits you well good sir. Many blessings and much more success for you in the future.
Bro can I have some pointers on how to do a line up I just started n it becomes trickier with every customer. I've tried pulling the skin just to make sure I don't pull the hairline back, I've tried the machine, trimmers ever the throat razor the line up is not bad but I know I can do better
In addition, I’d like to know Shannon’s thoughts on all the different guards. I know Wahl premium seem to be the standard, but seems more people are starting to use Gamma or Babyliss guards these days.
Love it bro! Can always connect with the transparency u display I’m a have to give it a try. Sometime I fade from zero into 1 1/2 but never thought of attacking it in this order 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great content as always 🔥🔥 I love trying new techniques, it keeps the feeling of being too repetitive away. It also challenges your skill! Killed it G 💪🏼
Love this system in theory. The 0 guard open essentially becomes your 1 closed, and your 1.5 closed becomes your 1 open. You only really miss the few clicks inbetween with the 1 guard, but can adapt by using the corners.
You can't put a stretch lever on the JRL, the bracket will not physically move past the groove/indent on the clipper body. JRL standard taper blade does open up A LOT (the lever in the middle with their taper blade is a TINY bit shorter than a Wahl lever fully open), but their fade blade fully lever open is similar to a Wahl lever open. I've tested out the measurements myself. Wahl fully open is 1.3mm, JRL taper blade lever midway is around 1.2mm, and JRL fully open with their fade blade is around 1.2mm. These numbers don't mean much, but people often think their lever opens up a lot more than a standard clipper, when on actual fact it's their taper blade is that which gives it the bigger open length, not the lever per se. You can put that blade on a Wahl and it'll open up the same
Mr s.craft blendz. Can you make us a video on how to be quicker? Bro I’ve been cutting for years. & I still take about an hour each cut. 😂🤦🏻♂️ I fade down. But it is wut it is 🤷🏻♂️ help your boy out. 🙏🏼ty
I don’t have an issue with the camera quality. I say let them keep that camera and you use the money on something else. Not counting your money, but put it to use elsewhere or even on yourself! Keep it going and thanks for sharing something new and highlighting others!!!
I hear a lot of creators are moving away from the DSLR video format to using their phones. Phones do a pretty decent job when provided with good lighting. It gives it that sharp focus foreground while retaining that “boca” blur people like to associate with film/movie quality. Would love to see more iPhone videos if it means less work for you and more content brother. The quality comes from you teaching us the craft, the quantity is where we benefit. Nothing like them reps. God bless you and your fam hermano!
Yo S.Craft, You know you could record a movie with your iPhone right? Like record in cinema mode. Imagine what you could do with your iPhone. Just play with the settings on the camera until you see a crisp image to record with your iPhone. Btw your content is pure🔥🔥🔥
I think his name is ChooCutz uses the 2 guard system the best. Sets the open no guard and then goes right into the 1-1/2 closed mod and open and then uses the half guard to blend out
Might make things a bit easier if you start with the 1.5 and get down to second click and zero. Me personally I find it faster when I fade from top down.
Nah this was fire!! Really cool to see your thought process and trying to attack the cut in a different way when it came to the back. Cut came out fire🔥🔥
I understand the system with a wahl clipper, but if the Jrl opens to a 1(3.5mm) then why use the half guard. It would be completely unnecessary to because only the last 2 clicks would take you past blade open guard. Same thing for the 1 guard, it should take you straight to the 2 guard.
@@s.craftblendz ah man really, I gotta try this out then. I’m a barber student and I have been cutting based on that info but if this will be a better way to use the clipper I gotta try it
With clippers that open more you dont need a .5 guard or 1.5 guard tbh but you would have to know how to do other techniques to blend it in properly. Like freehanding, a lot of flicking, raking, feathering methods. Not saying its hard it just takes a lot of practice to do it consistently without messing up etc. I either use this method tbh or i use the 1 guard and 2 guard only in my cuts it just depends on what cut im doing. If im doing a stretch fade like shannon mentioned in the video I really enjoy using the 0guard and 1.5 guard method because of how easy it is to spread the blend out to whatever you want while still leaving it dark where you want it to be. If its a tighter blend i like using the 1guard and 2 guard only. It makes the blend easy to keep the blend as dark as i want and i control where exactly i want the light parts to be in and you can still spread the blend out where need be at the same time.
These systems aren't new. I'm a 30 year vet, the state where I attained my license, your not even allowed to use guards on the exam, nor in schools, til' this day. At age 12, I learned with a clipper with no lever, a balding clipper as it's known today, a razor, and a comb. Guards are almost cheating, though they are dummy proof, and increase a bit of efficiency, if used properly. Clean fade though.
I've been setting my bald line on the second notch for a few years now. I didn't realize others were doing this as well. I use the guard system as well. But I use the corded masters to tie it in with the gamma zero

S.Craft content makes me want to get my favorite comfort food and just kick back and watch him be great. DOPE CONTENT FA SHO!
Thank you 🙏 😁
I think the technique is perfect. Especially for those of us that hate reaching for several guards. Excellent work!!!
I also only use 2 guards, but I use the wahl 1/2 and number 1.
Anything above that I’ll use clipper over comb

If works best with the stylecraft dub zero guard and wahl 1 1/2 guard. It Instantly removes the line

Monopod

Why aren't you using the JRL Onyx trimmers? Are they not so good?
I use a #1 and #2 for my blends to happen. You did a great job brotha. Clean result!
I have the problem with the iPhone. What’s a good camera I can buy that’s not too crazy on price but a good beginner camera that’ll be good for IG?

Choochcutz 2 guard system is really dope too.
Couldn't even tell this was an iPhone until you said something. Must be the latest one cause the video is of superb quality. Great cut!
bro what you use for that color balance for your video … the color grade is sick smooth and dark I love it

These are actually the new KLIPAZ guards just because they are magnetic so I can put them on my apron.
I prefer wahl guards and babyliss half guard
Are you using the 1,5 guard from Babyliss ?
No. Klipaz guards
2 blade fiasco😂 that’s dope!

Yes sir
What iPhone ??

Kinda. I’ve been thinking about doing a video on that.
Can you try no guard next?

The second click on the onyx is 1.4mm pretty much equal to 1/2
What if you use the streched lever, it gives you more space
I’m pretty sure JRL opens to a full 1 blade like masters
I’m pretty sure JRL opens to a full 1 blade like masters
@@s.craftblendzI don't think it does due to it coming with their fade blade. We need a caliper to measure it
