"Show me a hero, and I'll write you a tragedy." -F. Scott Fitzgerald This is why Obi-Wan is such a powerful foil to Anakin. Obi-Wan LOST EVERYTHING and suffered as greatly, if not more so, than Anakin. His master, Qui-Gon: murdered before his very eyes. His love interest, the Duchess Satine: murdered before his very eyes. His entire order: completely destroyed. His best friend and student: lost to the Dark Side of the Force. Had no choice but to completely maim said student. Chose to live a life of destitution on a remote wasteland world to protect the future's last hope. Yet, Obi-Wan NEVER fell. He (and we see it in the Disney+ series) learned to abandon nearly all attachment. He learned to be at peace with himself. That is how he became so powerful. Anakin, on the other hand... found strength in his attachments. They were both his strength, and his folly. I'm still thinking about the message behind his attachments being the thing to bring him back to the Light, wherein Obi-Wan thought him totally lost. Perhaps something about the nature of exceptions proving the rule. After all, even justice cannot exist without mercy. TL;DR Both Obi-Wan and Anakin were heroes. A true hero often doesn't get a happy ending, even if they've earned it.
The master of Skywalker removed half the dark side. The apprentice of Skywalker removed the other half. Then, the son of Skywalker removed it completely. Anakin is free.
No, the master and apprentice only saw the light within but didnt remove his hatred Vader saw a recording of Padmes last moments "theres still good in him, i know it" it was that which helped Anakin realise that even if shes gone, she was still with him always and loved him it wqs Luke who helped him feel like he had a choice, that he didnt have to be Vader anymore and Vader
The fact that this song came out in the 80s with the same decade of the og trilogy makes it more nostalgic at 1:34 when we see Luke and vader again concluding this skywalker story

If Vecna ever tried to enter Vader’s mind, the minds cape alone would be enough to destroy his own psyche. Anakin is such a damaged character both mentally, physically and emotionally, it would consume anyone. This song is so perfect for him. Even more because he was a victim more than he ever was a villain.
Vader story is amazing, but to this day I still wonder on how Luke, A boy he met one year ago, is able to turn him back to the light when Ahsoka, someone he saw as a sister, and Obi-Wan, someone he saw as a brother, failed to do that despite him knowing them for years.
Cuz unlike luke.. their love was never seen as unconditional. Ahsoka left him.. Obi-Wan at times treated him as more of a burden.. luke, despite all he knew of vader.. still stuck
@Blizzards_holocron it's explained in the vader comics, once again they all try to turn him back but vader side kept taking over killing them until luke appears in the force confronting him before vader could kill the padme vision. Or something like that
because that was his son. Vader spent decades living with the belief that he had killed not only his wife, but his unborn child out of anger. knowing that Luke was alive was enough to spark hope in him
“If I only could make a deal with God, and get him to swap our places.” That fits so well. You can interpret it as both Anakin wanting godlike power over death, or Vader quite simply wanting to go where God is, aka to die and be at peace.
Vader’s reaction to Ashoka I believe will always be my favorite when it comes to showing the struggles of anakin skywalker. Anakin was pushed back to the surface in shock. He hears one of the few people he truly would bring the whole universe down for….and while he wishes to pull free, Ashoka is a reminder of the dark times. Of the choices his evil inner dragon made that he couldn’t stop. Anakin sinks away in fear and heavy guilt for the blood that stained his hands. Vader regains control and burns twice as hot inside from anakins pain and misery.
