Autogefühl 50/50? I thought that Haldex 5th generation is able to transmit even 100% of drive into rear wheels... I'm really disappointed...
Haldex could never do that. I don't think any 4wd system can do that.
Hmm, I searched a little in our reports, and actually it was said in the manufacturer's info that e.g. the Audi RS3 and the Jeep Renegade could do that (FWD basis, but with AWD up to 100 % to the rear)

What to do with my 2016 Cupra st 290... Unfortunately the performance pack does not seem to be an option in Finland anymore, really like those side skirts!

Yeah the Superb is a level above that, but indeed also a segment above. Price wise still attractive though
I really like Seat. I own a Cupra 290 5 doors myself. But I find it quite annoying that they issue a "new" version of their car every year. 280-290 and now 300 + 300 AWD.

Lux Gear that is the emotion they designed for you. Perhaps long term rental instead of buying is the answer. Btw. I know the feeling - our 184PS Alhambra arrived in August and already they offer a 4x4 version that was not available when we ordered

mine are showing zero signs of wear after 2 years and they're easy to clean. the seat bolsters are not alcantara, they're 'leatherette' so do not get rubbed as you get in or out of the car
Another great review does the seat now come with a heated windscreen and are the performance pack seats heated as well.Blue colour with black performance pack much more classy compared to garish orange performance pack.Loved the 4 wheel drift on ice made you look like a proper rally driver Thomas.

Pretty exterior color. You can definitely still see a little VW in it. From certain things. From the side profile it sort of looks like a Golf Alltrack. Did they model it after the Alltrack ? Would you say it has a little better build quality than the Golf Kombi or Alltrack ? Very nice car though.

As I said on your previous review...what a car this new Seat is! It combines everything you could expect in a family and sport car in a non "premium" car. Performance package also makes the car better looking BUT semi-slicks are a downside to me. For a daily driving, specially in bad/winter conditions, 4 drive system should be more than an option unless you just drive this car to race or on weekends. Having said that, I bet this is definitely the new king of the ring!!!

Finally someone opened main advantage of Golf R/Leon Cupra with Haldex. It amazing to drift on slippy surfaces. Like better than STI.

I am missing Manual gearbox with haldex and option for rear differential...
After nearly 6 months waiting, will get mine before the end of April. Same colour, but hatchback. Will be the fastest to 20 mph :))
Herr Sheppard (?) mag Ingenieur bei Seat sein,aber eben auch ein Markenvertreter --> Bei geöffneter Haldex-Kupplung wird genauso viel Kraftstoff verbraucht wie bei geschlossener, denn dann wird das Hinterachsgetriebe/Hinterachsdifferential und ein Teil der Haldexkupplung durch die Hinterräder angetrieben. Auch Schleppmoment genannt.Reibung eben. Audi tüftelt momentan daran,das Hinterachsgetriebe von den hinteren Antriebswellen zu entkoppeln um das Hinterachsgetriebe/Hinterachsdifferential komplett vom Antriebsstrang bei Bedarf zu entkoppeln.Das spart dann wirklich unbekannte,einstellige Prozente an Kraftstoff.

I already have a Seat Leon ST FR on order, I can't wait! sadly couldn't afford to go for the cupra. Since the FR has a special exhaust, does it change the sound of the car? Or is it just visual? Again, not talking about the cupra, just the FR. Thanks!
FR is more visual.
I like it. but I got a vw golf alltrack so it's got a few similarities
amazing snow slides... but i really hope you do a 5d hatchback review of the cupra in asphalt 😁

I currently own a Skoda Octavia VRS, which I guess is one of your favourites also - I just feel sorry we cannot get on the Octavia that same 4WD package on the petrol VRS, with the larger IS38 Turbo that is on the Cupra/Golf R
Great review, I really love how Thomas pays attention to the design of the car, the lines and explains what he likes/dislikes in a car. Earlier I thought that SEAT cars aren't that good with the low quality and high price. But I was wrong because now all the Leon and Cupra models seem an excellent deal for that money. Still, can you tell which one is better (considering the quality and price): Leon Cupra Vs Golf GTI and Leon Cupra Vs Golf R. Keep up the good work.

Well now, if the review is gonna be like that one from new GTI facelift with Thomas, simply amazing. Makes me wanna go to VW and get a big credit loan for GTI. But looking at the official prices of VW and SEAT, seat is cheaper. :-(

Hi Thomas, what is your opinion on the footrest position in seat, skoda or volkswagen? I have a 2015 octavia and I'm 6cm shorter than you and I sit almost at the lowest position and when I have the seat drivers seat near enough for the pedals, the footrest is really close and my left leg starts to ache after a while.
Hi Marko. I have a Golf 5 GTI DSG. I also find the footrest a little too close. I don't use it that much. I usually keep the left foot on the floor and only occasionally use the foot rest.
Keeping my foot on the floor could be the solution but then I also have to bend my leg very much. I guess I'll just have to get used to it. Also, the clutch pedal movement is reeeeaally long on the octavia. I'm used to pushing clutch all the way down even though it's not necessary and that also puts me in a awkward position

Awesome review once again! Interview with Juha was nice and it was great to see the maestro behind the wheel. Not a big fan of the car though, all the Seat's look so dull. Buying semi-slicks for a family estate sounds a bit funny to me :D
And by the way, it's not mystery blue... it's Thomas blue.

this car is very interesting in aspect of design and performance, in terms of reliable I doubt a little, after having a Ibiza 6j and had to switch to a ceed GT...

So much better than a Jetta. Jetta is built in an old and customized Golf V platform. This Leon is on par with the current Golf VII.
