just picked up an 89 z51, glad i found this channel, thanks. couple questions, you mentioned OEM parts, would i just go to a chevy website? also, is there a parts website you recommend for corvettes? my interior needs some attention. thanks
You used flat black paint on the windshield molding’s probably should have used satin black that’s how the cars were originally done from the factory. Will you be painting the jambs also? Thanks
I’m looking at a cheap 84 coupe on CL but it would need the weatherstripping replaced. All of the reviews on Amazon for the product you put in the description say the rubber is too hard and thick, the doors will not close. They all say not to buy it.
I did my weather stripping about 4 months ago. The install went smooth but now I have to slam the doors to shut them. People say the weather stripping might need to break in but it’s been months… anyone else having this issue? Any advice on how to make the doors shut like they should?
adjust the window. there's an adjustment bracket that pushes the window in and out be sure you don't go too far out or your window will leak. there are you tube videos show you how.
Guys, do NOT buy this kit he has linked. It's garbage. You will NOT be able to close your doors and windows. You shouldn't have to slam your hatch. There's a plethora of cheap weather strip kits out there which are made from rubber, and not foam. They are FAR too hard. The corners of these things are made of rubber with the consistency of a tire. They are not pliable. You will be wasting your time and money on them, and you'll have to rip the stuff out and put in the real deal. Yes, the real stuff is expensive. Several online corvette retailers have the real stuff. A full body kit for a 84-89 will run you around $700 as of 2024.
I got foam ones (Made in USA) but they didnt even last two years and startet falling apart after the first year. So are the rubber ones really that bad. I live in Germany and shipping can get expensive too.
This is awesome! I've already done the rear window but dreaded the rest, so glad you do this stuff before I do 😅
Thanks Brother!
If you use silicone grease on the weatherstripping it protects it and should stop it from drying out.
Great video, can you show more of the tires and rims???
Theres a little metal clip on the hartch struts that slide off before the strut comes off.
Awesome job

Good Job!
Why did you not use Super weatherstrip adhesive under the whole seal, are you not supposed to put an adhesive under the whole thing ?
Can you do it on my car? I bought the weather strips already
What did you do to get the top back on? I’m running into that issue

Why didn't you use silicon spray instead of the WD40? WD40 allows the softeners in plastics to diffuse, causing become brittle and breake
What type of wheels are those???
Video posted a month ago and already the weatherstripping kit is unavailable on Amazon. Sad face!
I just checked and it is in stock.amzn.to/49z4rtz
Thank God mine just got rained in the corner of the back window
