- SKYDRAMA.NET | Widespread severe storms impacted the Midwest and Mid-South on May 26th, 2024. I intercept a long-lived tornadic supercell that impacted the St. Louis metro as it entered southwest Illinois. I paced the storm until it appeared ready to cycle again and produce a tornado, so I positioned myself just south of New Baden, IL ahead of the obvious tornadic area. A tornado then damaged homes and business at the intersection of Hwy 160 and Haselhorst Road south of New Baden, IL. A full VLOG episode will follow.
Live in new Baden was crazy sky’s yesterday. Unfortunately I think it’s gonna get bad bad this year!
That’s a spike surge going down the line after the transformer blew.....not the actual transformer. We have 2 utility poles along our back yard and I was standing in our living room watching a storm roll in a few years ago. Lightning struck the transformer on one end of our yard and sent the exact same looking fireball down to the next pole and blew that transformer. It was like the freaking Death Star exploding right in front of me. Oil from each transformer started on fire and was pouring down on our fence and burned parts of it. Kind of like napalm. It was a hell of a show!!
I live in New Baden and that storm meant business! Our neighbor had a huge tree limb come down on their shed…the wind was no joke! Great capture of the Tornado! My 14 yr old son lovesss this kind of stuff and definitely had fun tracking this one yesterday!
That building with the roof missing ...i was there when the roof came off
I live in the town just north of New Baden. Couldn't see it from there, but the sound of it was audible from inside my house. Thank you for the video!
Yikes! Is that Trenton? I came through there on my way back out of there and stopped at the Casey’s there to exhale. Lots of damage up and down 160.
@@AndrewPritchard Yessir! Idk what I would do without that Casey's haha
Thank you for sharing! We live on the west side of town but we’re in Patoka and got hit there with either straight line winds or a tornado that ended up hitting Salem IL.
good job friend
I don't know if I could see a rain wrapped tornado if it were in front of me
They’re scary for that exact reason. As a meteorologist I know the storm structure to look for, but it’s still impossible to make it out sometimes until it’s doing damage right in front of you.
My husband wasn’t far from there but couldn’t see it due to it being rain wrapped.
🙏
Ya know if you storm chasers started using RAIN X on all your windows it would vastly improve viewing quality. Also with it on the windshield you can drive with the wipers off and see much clearer. Just a thought.
I applied RAINX an hour before the chase. It does work wonders, but sometimes you’ve still gotta run the wipers a bit in those torrential cores.
Heh, you can probably even find me applying RAIN X in a ton of my videos. Not saying you need to watch, your YA KNOW comment is just funny because I’m probably the most avid user of it in storm chasing 😂 I clean my windshield and reapply before every chase!
@@AndrewPritchard Good job.
Was that really a power transformer shooting off like a rocket? I've never seen that before.
They filled with oil so it possibly
Yeah it was, I couldn’t believe it but blew the vid up to 500% and was like 👀
So far this year is CANCER 😢
UNFORTUNATELY
The transformer that blew was in my cousins yard...
Also when you turn down at like 4 mins their house is right there on right...swingset blew away but luckily no other damage
Sheesh, no kidding? Hope all is okay over there. Nasty storm.
Hopefully the swingset will return!
I don't have anything to say you people in the United States has been told Time After Time I still see law enforcement and politicians on my TV RPS 111
