Subaru is one of the only brands out there that actually give you a lot of value for the price. A fully loaded out Crosstrek with standard awd, etc for low to mid $30s is ridiculously cheap compared to most other vehicles out there. I wound up with my 2020 Crosstrek limited by randomly checking out the Subaru dealership when searching for a new vehicle. Kind of forgot all about Subaru and was really impressed with the vehicle. Since then, I’ve really been that guy from the Subaru commercials…hauling family members, road trips out to the deserts of American southwest, mountains and forests of the Pacific Northwest, hauled groceries, etc. it truly is spectacular as vehicle for a bit of everything if you can only have one vehicle.
I got rid of my truck after is kept breaking down. It didn’t even make it home after the shop from a 1.5k repair. We decided to buy a Crosstrek due to its capabilities and so far have been blown away with it. I recommend it to everyone, I live down a dirt road that isn’t county kept; other people who live down the road have to quit driving their cars and then transition to trucks at daily drivers. The Crosstrek doesn’t throw us around or bottom out. I’m still getting used to the CVT though. Even though it doesn’t pull much, it pulls enough for now. Trucks are too expensive and craftsmanship plummeted. I drove a 2002 7.3L f350 dually. I now have a 24 Crosstrek premium.
I have an outback and I will tell you tires makes a big difference. I have the nomad grapplers. It’s a tiny tiny drop in mpg and the only way I noticed is because I actually watch gas mileage. Reason I do that is because I’ve always own gas guzzlers. Right now I’m deciding on weather I want a full or mid size truck. Zr2 or at4x
Awesome job!! You should have used xmode deep snow/mud and you would have climbed that much faster. That setting automatically turns off traction control but still aggressively brakes the wheels. I have a Subaru and have used it many times in that scenario. Nice work guys!! 👍🏼
Very impressive result. Subaru’s have really grown on me over the years. Bought a 2023 Outback XT at Huffines in Corinth a few months back. I wonder how the extra torque of the turbo would help on this hill. Nevertheless, liked and subscribed.
Im looking at a crosstrek wilderness for next vehicle... like the outback but dont need the size. that being said i dont think the power was the issue.. the outback definitely needs it do to its substantial weight difference. I thing the 2.5 with 0ver 180 hp is more than enough for the crosstrek. The only thing this one needed was better A/T tires and ground clearance. The tires will make a Huge difference. Its never going to be a wrangler but its not trying to be as some might suggest.
While obviously not dedicated off-road machines, Subaru AWD with X-Mode is the most capable AWD system out there. And if you live in a snow state, there is nothing more capable and confident in the snow than a Subaru with winter tires. And for day to day normal driving, the TR580 CVT in the Crosstrek is actually very good. It's exceptionally smooth and quiet, and feels natural enough during regular driving to not be noticed. I have a '23 Crosstrek Limited (same chassis and drivetrain as this '24 Limited), and I absolutely love it. It's a great tool for many jobs.
Negotiate online first, get all numbers settled before you go to a dealership. We have to get dealers use to this practice. They are called dealers for a reason, they want to talk you into the highest numbers. They want you to sign based on emotion and put you in debt prison. The dealership is the auto mafia’s turf, the internet and cash is our turf.
I just watched the CX5 UA-cam,,, but you took it for the other side road! Not like this Crosstrek road” which make it look much harder. Subaru and Mazda are my two favorite brand. I own a 2021 Sport Crosstrek and a 2015 Mazda Miata. Different types of car but the same fun to drive.

That was great! I felt like I was cheering the little car onward and upward. So glad the Crosstrek made it!
Omg, me too!!! 😂
Very cool….the Crosstrek Wilderness has 9.3 ground clearance….so the first hill would have been cleared…it’s a great little car…

I work in the desert and use alot of lease roads, do you think the crosstrek can handle an environment like that

The OEM tires are kinda ok when new but when my tires wore out I put Falken Wildpeaks and now I go anywhere, anytime, any weather….mostly lol
Which Falken Wildpeak tires do you have? The A/T Trail, or the A/T 3W?
The belt can't be slipping because the transmission doesn't have a belt that has a chain
Great result for a relatively cheap car.
If you still have the Crosstrek, please try the hybrid line in "deep snow/mud" mode.

A good set of tires would help immensely.
Absolutely!
It looked like it was learning where the grip was, it took a little while. Not for the impatient!
We tried our best to show wheel spin! Thanks for watching.

None of the crosstreks have turbos
solid video boys but you guys should have done it again with the X mode deep snow and dirt and see if it helped even more. but good video
I have a Crosstrek Wilderness reserved..... you are making me happy!! 🤩

Can't wait to get mine in November or December. We get our fair bit of snow still in Ontario Canada
My Forester Wilderness is a beast, but my little Crosstrek is almost as awesome
Wow! That was really cool to see in action.
im actually curious, you guys have tested a few AWD systems.. do any of them standout better then the others?
Pretty impressive with street tires
A non-red tow hook doesn’t work Lmfao 🤣🤣🤣
Does anyone know how to turn off the hill descent control? Mine is stuck on so my x mode is useless…
Cvt pair with the 2.5 sucks compare to the 2.4t in the Outback ...
Oh my the wheel left the ground. I was on pins and needles. Glad it was y’all doing the hill test. Great video guys.
One more up the hill!! If it light and small you are halfway there they say…
great vid!! is it a 2.0 or 2.5 motor?
2.5!
Will you do the Forester?
Sure thing, as soon as one is available.

Awesome!
Try a Mazda next....
Check out our CX-5 & CX-90 hill tests!

@@TexasTruckChannel why the comments section is locked? Wanted to ask about using 2st gear on manual mode with the X mode
You guys keep shit talking Subaru’s cvt but it is a good system. The cvt issues are long gone.
I don't think it was impressive, more like it was difficult and overwhelming
needs more power, always anemic! why subaru why!
If you are thinking of the 2.0's (Base and premium) the 2.5 is not as bad. (Sport, limited, wilderness).
