A true beauty. Lovely car from an era when cars had stylish and beautiful exteriors & interiors. This car would look good on the road or in my yard in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
That was the first vehicle I ever owned when I was 18 years old as a HS graduation gift - It was my Dad's and my dad gave it to me in 1985 - I would kill to own one that looks that great again.
403 was top engine option in 77 along with the 350, 231 Buick V6 or 260 Olds V8 were standard. 403 is actually a damn good engine, its a big bire 350 Rocket, is very torquey and with some mods can be an excellent street engine, better exhaust true duals with the emissions crap yanked off, hotter ignition and performance rebuild on qjet will wake these cars up, alomg with a shift kit in trans. Ask me how i know, my first car at 16 was an immaculate 77 Cutlass Supreme with 442 options, was my folks car, 350 Rocket buckets console rallys just like this 442 has, it really ran after those minor mods i did to it. Surprises some folks with that Olds. Wish i still had it.
I heard if you try to build those up you really have to strengthen their structure. Something about the windowed-mains or something. Have you ever heard this before?
@@MyDarkSide62 Cruise control would be on turn signal but without going back to look I’d bet what you’re seeing is rear window defogger. Definitely not cruise control
I order one new, mine was black and gold with t-tops and had the 403 engine. I did not keep the car very long because it was junk. I think I traded it off after 10 months. GM told me the 403 engine had problems and I believe is true.. In the 10 months I owned the 442 it had three engines.
My uncle had a 78 Trans Am with the Olds 403/automatic and it was a slug. He traded it in on a brand new 79 T/A with the Pontiac 400-4 speed and it was a hell of a lot faster than the 78 had been. That Olds 403 engine sucked. They should've just kept the 455 in production. Same goes with Buick and Pontiac
Tis car hss been acrepaint. No GM 70s car survived the OEM paint. Trunk 442 decal missing as well as RR window trim. Hood hinges wete originally a flat black. Not body color. Still looks nice.
It's missing the trim around the triangle windows and the doors inside would be completely white, top and bottom if white was ordered. Nice car, if priced right.
You aren't kidding. That is an absolutely beautiful car. Especially in that color combo. It's too bad the engines were so strangled by smog equipment by 1977. I'd drop in an earlier high compression Olds 350 or 400/455 and a 4 speed manual trans but leave the car looking 100% stock otherwise. I'd also hang onto the original powertrain in case I ever wanted to swap it back in for originality's sake. Is that a 403 in there?
nice car, but the red paint on the hood hinges looks tacky and shows the painter is not of the better painters. as a painter of 43yrs, i would have never missed this. the hinges are satin black, or galv. all depending on the year. nice car overall though.
Luv this 442 olds and the Oldsmobile 403 engine super reliable and great looking I miss Oldsmobile thus was an iconic franchise along with pontiac
One of the slowest models but definitely one of the best lookin'
Especially with those 2.41 axle gears in the back.

Some guys say "oh they weren't as fast " but I don't care, I'm not into speed. I just love vintage cars and preferably stock!
Missing rear side window trim and the 442 sticker on the trunk lid
@2:00 "I think this car has every single option you can put on it..." No A/C, no swivel buckets, no power locks windows, seats....
Not even cruise control, this thing is stripped
77 Olds had no swivels
@@kenp108 - you could get them from a wrecked '76 and install them, like I did in my '77.
@@larrygro That's cruise control mounted to the right of the thermostat housing.

I had a red and silver 1976 442. With red interior and factory swivel bucket seats Was just as nice. Until a lady ran a stop sign and hit me.
I'd like to see one of these tricked out with T-tops and hood scoops!
Missing the trim on the rear side windows.
I ordered & bought mine new in January 1977 and it was a silver blue & white. Looking for one the same color to purchase.
Sweet ! All original boat , don't try to take a corner with this.😎
I had no problem taking my father's 77 442 with the 403/185hp into a corner at 75 mph! The problem was running into the ditch after the corner 😅

What did you sell it for?

No. It is a 350. I am about to buy a 77 myself. The motor though "choked" is actually pretty stout all stock. Surprised me.
He said it was a 403.
S Shake .....What? That engine had 110 hp
Clearly had a 403 sticker on the air cleaner which was rated at a mere 185hp in 77' sexy but slow.
It would have been perfect if the rear side tear drop windows molding had been replaced.

I had the white on red, red interior. Rust ate that baby up
fully loaded but doesn't have power door locks or power windows oh and an engine they forgot to put horsepower in
How much
How much?
$33k
40k
Original color… but not original paint. The overspray on the hood hinges and the entire engine bay has a red tint to it!
40 k.. for a loaner
Be glad no T-Top. They eventuslly leak.
185hp oh boy.... very light gearing.. my Kia Rio is faster 😂
Thats what it was rated at, its actually putting out around 215-220hp and 325lbs ft torque.
@@dustinmartin8954
Fast enough and a way lot cooler than his Kia
Beautiful car, bad paint and a well worn interior
Stop talking about your wife like that
