Solid review, I gotta say tho, I def have a different opinion regarding the 2001 version 😂 after having listened to it numerous times, I definitely prefer it to the spymob version, the magic that the Neptunes have the offer is far more clear with the digital sounds. I think the album sounds far more unique and weird with the digital production, something that alongside the additional skits and intro give the album a much stronger ethos. The high moments just shine so much brighter on the original version, like the provider bridge, tape you outro, run to the sun, etc. If you haven’t recently, I suggest going back and listening to the entire 2001 version front to back again, really get into the feeling, I’m curious if your opinion will have changed
Yeah I can definitely understand preferring the original, it definitely has more of that classic Neptunes sound. But personally, I prefer how the songs sound with the real instruments. The drums and guitar breathe life into a lot of the tracks and just make them sound more realized imo. Still a great album either way though
Don’t forget about the random moans that is heard in background on Tape You in both versions. I agree The song is still really good though despite the lyrics and all the other stuff 😂. I have a huge feeling that they made Kelis or Vita do all that moaning both throughout the song and on the 2001 outro
@@arkarmz589 I love LOVE this album. I really enjoy both versions of the album. For the most part, I prefer the digital version with a few exceptions to songs like Rockstar. Depending on the day I'd go back and forth b/w albums. I think it's cool that what I consider the best songs are your least favorite; and vice versa. It just speaks to their genius. This album is such a vibe. It's a shot of energy. Classic. Thanks for your review!
This is a great review, I agree with you on every song. What did you think of Tammy Lucas’s part on the end of Baby Doll? And that hidden track with Chad playing sax and doing those crazy synth lines?
Search of it's my favorite album I don't care what nobody say tape you is my favorite song in the summer I love the lyrics in the hook Bobby James that's my second hey there can you help me please can you spend some change on the world I just think of homeless people on that song but the end of that song I'm not a nerd I'm not a nerd the beat that switch on the end of that song you're so beautiful just the instrumental nice video I love it
And I should not say like homeless people we are human as people just the people who struggle that's what I get from Bobby Jane sometimes you got to do better for yourself and I learned so much on this album the things that you don't do it can happen on reality
you the only other person i heard say their favourite bands are gorillaz and n.e.r.d. we the same person fr. also i ain't know there were many major differences between the streaming and og version of the album besides the extended cut of tape you, which i thought was a cd exclusive originally. i definitely gotta hear the og now.
Thank you for making this video it’s not much NERD content! Def subbed

I think it’s awesome that I disagree with you about every part of this album. It just speaks volumes on how great this album is.
