The Shining is my personal favorite, as well as being one of my favorite horror films of all time. I'm aware King himself hates it, but I can't understand that.
It's a really good movie on it's own but it was a pretty bad adaptation, I understand why King doesn't like it, this guy didn't like the book or the movie so he didn't put it on the list.
Top 10's are tough. I think the Shinning should probably be here, but 1408, Dead Zone, The Dark Half, The Running Man and the Mist are also pretty good.
A lot of your picks are my favorites as well, just in a different order. I've never seen The Green Mile or Shawshank (or read them) but I hear that they're great. Stand By Me is definitely my favorite! A lot of people don't like remakes, but when it comes to Carrie I like how they updated it and added social media/technology as another way to bully her and put her "freakiness" on display to a wider public. I found that made her more sympathetic than the original movie, and that's hard to do! I just wish they would've cast someone else to play Tommy; Ansel Elgort just didn't seem to fit. But overall I thought it was well done. Good list!
@@viktorwolfe8333 I actually don't. It takes a lot for me to watch a new movie, and I'm even worse with TV shows. But just out of curiosity, what part of my comment do you disagree with?
@@TumbleFourYa I'm not saying I disagree with anything; it's just hard to believe it. Not seeing those movies would be like someone saying they haven't seen The Wizard of Oz.
@@viktorwolfe8333 Here's something I'm sure will shock you: I'm not a huge Morgan Freeman fan😮😅 Couple that with the fact that it's a prison story that includes sexual assault and I'm steering clear. As for The Green Mile, I don't really have an explanation for that other than it just doesn't sound intriguing to me. There are lots of other King stories I'd read/watch first before that one.
As a kid, a movie i enjoyed the hell out of but only realized later on was a King adaptation was Maximum Overdrive. Now i realize it's a cheesy B-movie, with all the King tropes & B-movie stereotypes, but i think it points to the idea that maybe King stories are taken a little too seriously. Sometimes they are supposed to be stupid fun or just weird for the sake of being weird which, admittedly, can ruin the tone or the expectations of a story (even the journey if you will). Maximum Overdrive starts out dumb & then ends with the thinnest of explanations, yet i still enjoy it. Btw, i think the Shining could've left out all the ghost & psychic stuff & been better off for it. That would've made it more psychological with an alcoholic father who may have buried mental problems. Problems that get provoked when he's suffering from cabin fever, plus getting obsessed with the hotel's history & we realize he's passed on his problems to the son. But it's Stephan King & he shoehorns the paranormal into most of his stories. Sorry for the long winded comment but you're a writer, you get it.
I would’ve swapped out IT and Christine for The Mist and Cat’s Eye and maybe shifted the order around a little bit, all in all, that’s a solid list. I’m glad to see you left The Shining off because, while it’s a great film, it’s a bad Stephen King adaptation.
You should do a video about the Dean Koontz books that should be adapted. Because, seriously, we need more. Well, in theory, anyway. I mean, Hollywood certainly knows how to screw up with adaptations. So let's say "Dean Koontz Books That Should Be Adapted . . . If They Can Get People To Do It Who Know How To Do It". A long video title, yes, but it makes the point. 😁
Great list. I agree that Shawshank deserves the crown. I happen to be a fan of low budget/cult classic horror films, so there are plenty of Stephen King adapted movies on my fan list. My wife hates it.
I think this list should be updated. The movie adaptation for Dr. Sleep was incredible, in my opinion.
And "It: Chapter 2".
The Shining is my personal favorite, as well as being one of my favorite horror films of all time. I'm aware King himself hates it, but I can't understand that.
As great as The Shining is, I understand why King hates it. I mean, Kubrick changed it so much.
It's a really good movie on it's own but it was a pretty bad adaptation, I understand why King doesn't like it, this guy didn't like the book or the movie so he didn't put it on the list.
Just finished turning tables. Mate, it was absolute genius, great work and I never knew you were a UA-camr too so I just subbed 😀

The Mist, Salem's Lot, Gerald's Game are all pretty good. I really enjoyed 1408 and Cat's Eye, too. :)
He's back!
I really loved The Dead Zone.
They need to do another adaptation of The Stand. It’s easily Stephen Kings most complete and well rounded book.
Definitely agree with the number 1. Could you do a Top 10 Worst Stephen King adaptations?

Whaaaat?? You can't be serious. You must not watch movies as a general pastime.

Thought the Dead Zone would be in there. Christopher Walken tearing it up as Johnny Smith.
one of my favs
The movie The Shawshank Redemption was based on the short-story Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption.
1. Dolores Claiborne
2. Hearts in Atlantis
3. Shawshank Redemption
4. It (2017)
5. It: Chapter 2
6. It (1990)
7. Dead Zone
8. 1408
9. Carrie (2013)
10. Doctor Sleep
I love the Dolores Claiborne movie a lot, definitely in my top 10
Dolores Claiborne. Very underrated, and another five star Kathy Bates performance.
Apt Pupil would definitely be on my Top 10. VERY underrated movie.

There's a difference between remakes and adaptations, you know.
Doctor Sleep was a great adaptation
Umm... 1408?
That almost made the list. Great movie!
Weird... where the hell is The Shining?
I never really cared for it. Personal taste.
Stephen King has written some good books, a few are even great but when it comes to movies the man is absolutely clueless
