Disappointing to read so many (stereotypical) comments about reliability concerns. Alfa have done a great job in bringing this car to market and in record time. As a Quad owner, I concur with just how amazing this car is and I’ve not had any issues. Even if I had a few niggles, they would be worth it for the beauty, character and performance of this car!
I’m not an Alfista. This is my first Alfa having come out of the Porsche brand, so my perspective on the car is truly objective, not through looking at the car through rose coloured spectacles. As far as I’m concerned, it’s well and truly proved itself to me and it’s just won What Car performance car of the year ..... for the 2nd year in a row. Enough said!
Anton Zuykov it’s just Dunstan and me that can testify to the reliability of the Giulia on this thread but the last Whatcar customer survey had for cars 1-4 years old that Alfa beat all of their German competitors (the 7th most reliable of all brands). For 1 year old cars they came out as 3rd most reliable. All I’d say is give them a chance, the Giulia is a brilliant car.

510 bhp from 2.9 L!!!! To think my 1988, 2.5 L V6 75 produced about 168 bhp and it was quite a car in its day. I believe Alfa is back in a big way. Bravo🤗
@True Gooner JALOPNIK= BMW WHORES ... I own a 2017 Giulia Quadrifoglio and a 2018 Stelvio Ti Sport...all I care about is my life experiences with the cars that I own unlike you who will listen to loser trolls
You should go for it. I have had mine since March 2018 and after 15,000 km it is still as magnificent and faultless as it was when it rolled out of the show room on its first mile. The Giorgio platform is way ahead of competition and the combination of its appearance, handling capability, chassis tuning, gear box, this glorious engine and the power to weight ratio brings together a package that is pure joy for this segment while it being also practical in terms of space. In my opinion it is a very honest proposition from the Italian factory and a taste of what is yet to come from the historic Milanese firm in the next few years.
Petrol Ped keep up the good work. The more I think about it the more I believe that you will be best off in a Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Then everyone’s boxes are ticked imcluding the dogs. You will end up with less top end speed and less carbon (bonnet and roof) but more practicality, still the same blistering performance as in the Giulia. Well done and keep these reviews coming. 👍
You must not push yours very hard. Mine broke after 415 miles and that was after taking a freeway interchange (sweeping curve) at 70-80mph. Lateral G's starved the fuel pump with 1/3 tank of fuel and put it into limp mode. The dealer cleared the codes and ignored the TSB. My car was never the same again. I suspect they detuned it or some "fix" to reduce output instead of the TSB which called for fuel pump and feed tube replacement. Mine was a 2018. I got rid of it with a little over 1000 miles on the odometer for just over half of what I paid only 11 months prior. Alfa would NOT listen to me or offer to do anything about this. Bitter pill to swallow. I have another Alfa to liquidate now and I'm cringing at the insane loss I'll have to realize on it as well but at least I'll be free of them forever after that.
Sorry to hear about your experience. Despite the fact that this engine is practically bulletproof from the factory, what I normally do with all new engines in my cars is that I drive the first 6 to 8,000 km without pushing it too hard and these miles are preferrrably driven on a long journey somewhere in Europe. After that kind of mileage the computer allows to push the car more and more evenly. I would not recommend pushing really hard any car with only 415 miles on the clock.
I wasn't really pushing it. Notice I said 70-80mph around a curve. It was a long sweeping curve, an interchange from one freeway to another. I had my family in the car so I wasn't going to be crazy, and that's all it took to throw two codes and go into limp mode. Right lateral G's from a left curve is all it took. Furthermore, crazy for me is pretty tame by most standards. I'm old -lol. I also live out in the middle of nowhere so the car got virtually no city miles. It had a pampered easy life, mostly in the garage. To be fair, the design concept behind the car is great, and when they work, they work well. The fantasy comes crashing down, and crashes hard when something happens where you need help and support from Alfa. Making the decision to rid myself of the car felt like a breakup. A failed romance. Complete with all the emotional angst therewith. I still own a Q4 Ti Sport which has been flawless but I feel I must try and rid myself of it too before something should happen to it as well.
Great review Sir. I took a QV out for a test drive a few days ago and it blew me away. I've owned M3's, 911's, Exige's etc, took the M2 Competition out for a test, but this is an amazing machine. I am in the process of buying one now, and your review echoes all my thoughts.
I love my Giulia Quad. It has the greatest range of sporty to docile. It's a very safe car. I recommend trying the regular seats. I find them to be more practical. I recommend the regular brakes, but not the stock pads. Change the pads! I drive it in super cold weather and the tires are fine so far. The only issue is that I want to drive it in race mode every day... hard not to. I love my car and have no complaints whatsoever. I say go for it!
Petrol Ped Forza Componenti or AHM makes an exhaust controller that allows you to choose the full Race sound in DNA mode too, £239 or $299, IIRC. Would go for the AHM, works perfectly and gives the QF that split personality.
Right. The forza works perfectly. You can mate it to the garage door opener buttons as well. Lol. You think that you are opening your garage, but realize you are actually only annoying your neighbors.
Great report on the Guilia, Ive lusted after one for three years but a few months ago managed to at last get a three year old one with just 20k on it. Faults? yep. It went into limp mode twice within a few weeks, the fix turned out to be an update of the cars software...its now transformed and fault free. Its also got a lowered spring kit (20mm) which I wouldnt recommend mostly due to the very high risk of grounding the undertray and other bits on B roads if the surface is undulating. BUT it looks great... The review talks about how engaging the drive is and that four wheel drive would be great. I feel all wheel drive would spoil that completely...but of course it would be so much safer....so go buy the Audi instead if thats what you want. Be prepared for high running costs..17-21mpg, lucky to see 30 on a run! A pair of rear tyres every 4-5k miles. Front discs n pads are around £1400, every 20k miles, rears still good at 25k. Big service every 30k at £1500. Parts are Ferrari prices¬ But then Ferrari were very involved with the design and development... I'd say a car you buy with your heart....a car you just go for a drive for the sake of it....a car you will look back over your shoulder every time you park up and walk away...can you put a price on that! Andy , Ashford Kent UK
@@PetrolPed I just did. The question to ask yourself is what could you buy for the same money that you'd enjoy more. I couldn't find one. Now have a comp red QF on the drive and I keep peeking out the window to get a look at it. Exciting before you even get in!
The Alfa Giulia QV is a truly fine choice. Cheers for reviewing her. For me Alfa stands out from the usual brands like Audi or BMW ... I live in a big city and usually don't notice all of the generic looking cars, but when an Alfa passes me by, I can't help but notice its styling. It's one of a kind. I hope you will decide to buy one.
M50B25 Turbo I’d agree with you on the first point but you are wrong everywhere else. BMW make great cars but many on here (including you) find it difficult to accept there is new competition. Enjoy your M5 and I’ll enjoy my Alfa Quadrifoglio (doesn’t make me disloyal to the M5, M3 and recently M2’s that I’ve owned).
Sultanoftippoo Alfa Giulia is great but it competes with the M3/3 series. 5 series/M5 is bigger, more luxurious and more comfortable than 3 series. Alfa needs to make a new Alfetta Quadrifoglio with a Maserati/Ferrari V8
I've had 3 Alfa, 2 right now. Most reliable cars I've owned. Look after them , they will look after you. All cars break down sooner or later ! A smile is priceless, you only live once !
in the 80s my dad owned many Alfas i owned many Alfas growing up, none had ever let us down or left us by the side of a motorway. Rust was an issue and to be fair all manufacturers had problems with rust in them days.
I have a ARGQ in NZ which has done 15,000 miles and with no issues whatsoever. This is not merely a car... this is a beautiful Italian goddess with four different selectable personalities. They range from quiet, refined and comfortable in A to outrageously fast and furious in R. In A she quietly caresses you...in R she tries to kill you...but in the nicest possible way!! I absolutely adore this car. Cheers Col
Had mine for 15000 miles and only one non-scheduled service visit for some software updates. Certainly no worse than any of the Mercs (inc C63 6.2), BMW’s or Porsches we’ve had. Having priced up an M3 and C63 4.0 at the time also pleasantly surprised to find that the Alfa has a better trade-in figure than either, and no not against another Alfa. All cars depreciate and you don’t buy an Alfa Quadrifoglio for the sexiest sat nav, you buy it as a great drivers car. I can honestly say this is the best drivers car we’ve had, comfortable cruiser when needed, but the engine, steering and lightness give an ability few can match..Just do it!!!
Ferrari saloon they say....you only live once they say.....I bought one. Absolutely immense motor, none of the competitors come close in my opinion and it's exclusive round my parts which also I like. Absolutely no regrets and it's been reliable so far, 13k miles in. Out of my 3 previous Audi's only 1 decided that it wanted to work properly. The reliability for any car is all luck, not particularly brand based in my experience. Take the plunge, your S4 is the safe, default option (which I like myself)....buy something different and live life. Good luck with your car search
Terrific review (as always!). A colleague has one of these and absolutely adores it, and I have to say it is a beautiful car with a glorious engine note.
It's exactly what the channel needs! You would be one of, if not the only youtuber with one so you would have more exclusive content. Despite the interior quality being 'not the best in class', the handling, looks and sound most definitely make up for that! Yes the cayman may be a better handling car but in a month or two, we'll get bored of it 🤷🏻♂️
@@PetrolPed You'd be spot on. It's not a perfect manual, but it's sooo satisfying. A bit controversial it's a smart manual, which allows trick stuff like no lift shifting and auto Rev matching if you don't feel like heel and toeing yourself (which it does allow and at which point it just gets out of the way).
78! Omg. Like you, I’d want a good used. I am not a fan of the Alfa marque as a rule, but this is a far far cry from the ole Alfa Sud lol. 4x4 is better with that power I believe. Instils that confidence to know you have ya back held together, as opposed to that ‘are we gonna come out of this rndbt through our back end’ sinking feeling lol. Great review yet again pal. Get those LEMSIPS flowing bud. See you soon.
Sorry that you aren’t over the cold yet, hope you feel better soon. As for the car, just one word Pedro ‘RELIABILITY’. There’s no doubt that it is a great car however, one of my friends has just sold his Alfa due to it breaking down six times in as many months. Just give it some thought. I admit that I am bias but for me it’s the Porsche badge that always wins.
I have a Quadrifoglio and it has been a blast for the year I have had it! If you plan to keep this car as a weekend driver I highly recommend the dealer setup trickle charger. It will keep all unwanted errors away do to battery drainage!
The looks are to die for compared to the German competition. I’d have one, even the standard cars look look at for less budget. I wonder if they’ll be bringing out a Sportwagon version soon. Do that with 4wd and you have an S4/RS4 rival !! 👍
You, sir, have absolutely the best background music of any car- or bike- related video I have seen: the divine song of that V6 Alfa violin! Ergo, liked and subscribed!! Oh, and btw you also have my eternal gratitude for not bludgeoning the ear with an extraneous sound track as every other car channel/reviewer seems hell bent on doing! 🙏
Pete, it is an absolute stunner of a car. But I personally didn't find the quality of the switch gear and materials inside nearly of high enough quality. And with the black leather interior I just found it extremely dark inside. That with the added element of uncertainty regarding the reliability of the brand I decided not take the plunge. Also, Alfa were miles off the mark with the "touch over 1500kg". The qv is more around 1700kg (wet weight) if you search online with testers who have a weighbridge. An M3 CP weighs in around 75kg less.
Have too agree I'm afraid, I've sat in one at a car meet and inside I too found that the switch gears, build quality and materials don't live up to what you would typically find a your premium German brands. There is doubt that It's a stunning looking car and that V6 sounds glorious.
This car is just AMAZING, just very few little things not too like about it but I hope you get one. Am in the U.S. and I’m hoping to get me one next year.
If you love the car buy it. It's the last of it's kind. It is a Ferrari saloon designed in Ferrari's wind tunnel at their facilities. There was only a 2.5 year window to get this car done before they lost access to Ferrari's full design team and facilities. Yes it's Italian electrics, but my wife can be high maintenance sometimes but I reckon I am higher, but I would not change her for the world for putting up with me. So maintenance is a subjective thing because no car has zero maintenance - it's a package. BMW and Merc are not the first choice in having no mechanical problems either. There are faults ranging from annoying to downright seriously expensive for some owners. Alphas can need some TLC., but all the owners I have met are very loyal to the brand and are sometimes race enthusiasts or race themselves. I don't think resale will be an issue at all. If you can't find something you love more I'd say buy it. Check Alpha owners forums for any known issues or common failures to this model if buying a used one before striking a deal. Also be careful of below average mileage cars as its more likely the run-in process for the motor might be short joy rides and the car may use more oil, etc, Or in the worst case, low mileage could indicate the car might have been badly damaged and spent over a year waiting for parts in a panel shop as a result of power-sliding the car at 100mph. Good luck!
You are a fool then if you think throwing away money on a car is somehow a good thing . That wife will take you to the cleaners soon enough...............
I've just test driven a QV. I have a Mk3 Focus RS with Mountune 375 upgrade for comparison. I was amazed by the grip of the RW Giulia QV even with external temperature of 11 C. The brakes are fine so not sure why some reviewers didn't like them. The QV is well built, easy to handle and very fast. It is a safer car than I expected - but I may need to consider winter tyres (I also ordered one today!).
Great vid! It's hard not to love these things! I have to say that the German competitors never got a look in before we ordered our Giulia QF, I simply wasn't interested in them, perhaps I'm missing out... However, I have to say that 3k miles into Giulia ownership and all is good with the world. I love the simplicity and concealed design of the infotainment (I absolutely hate anything that looks like a non-retractable iPad stuck to the dash), I also like the fact that it is NOT touch screen and that most commonly used functions are a one button/rotational knob operation (heater fan, heated seats etc) rather than having to press a button to bring up a menu then prod at a screen to select the required operation. My previous car, a 3.0 F-Pace (I know, don't remind me..) was a total nightmare in terms of interface (and reliability too.....). After a few hundred miles the initial hesitation to explore the performance is reduced, though the respect for the performance is very much still there. The car seems to become more natural to drive both slowly and quickly the more you experience it. Go on, you know you want to! You need something different for the Spring Sprint ;-)
One of your best videos! And you were poorly. Never considered this car (agree I’d prefer 4WD Stelvio) but what a beauty. (My catholic Glaswegian missus would love the shamrock!) Really got me thinking. Going to look for a test drive then go nearly new. Cheers and looking forward to 2019’s videos.
First ? Well it’s a very good looking car Peter but the 2 wheel rear drive would not be my choice . A lot of big numbers that could get you facing in the opposite direction on a damp, muddy British “road”. The Stelvio would definitely make for an interesting comparison. I read so many articles of unhappy owners who have had a myriad of problems with Alfa’s. I had to smile at the remark about getting old/driving saloon cars. I must be going backwards (lol), sixty seven years young, still loving my hot hatches, although it is a bit cold for the GP2 to get off the drive. I have to keep telling myself I will have a Porsche if it’s the last thing I do !! Hope the man flu gets better soon and good luck with the search. Cheers mate Geof
The driving position in this car is considered perfect! I saw one just like this one in a FCA dealer in Faro, Algarve and gosh it is so beautiful because it is not normal white but pearl white. Absolutely an amazing car. Regards
What a car Peter, from every angle it looks so dam good inside and out. Yes I know the seats are expensive but my goodness!!! How good do they look (I would love one of them for my lounge!!) Beautiful colour. Has to be one of the best sounding cars out there. Great review mate. Ps your audio is stunning. 👌👍
Five year warranty is nice but any major problem that happen with a new car in the first 5 years would be covered by Consumer Rights Act 2015 anyway. So the warranty doesn't add that much.
Just watched the vid, always had a soft spot for Alfa's, never owned one. Been lucky enough to have the use of a friends Quadrifoglio for a day and yes,, it's awesome, like a speeding bullet, but, in all my driving years I've never once owned a saloon car, the type of car that's never floated my boat so to speak,, but that Alfa is a STUNNER that's for sure,,,,,,
Really enjoyed this weeks vlog Ped and nice to see something a little different from Alpha. I went to Le Mans last year and a buddy had one of these but had to go home in limp mode. I would always be concerned about alpha reliability, even with a 5 yr warranty.
I’ll bet your buddy wasn’t impressed, especially where it decided to go into limp mode. So there’s issues even within the warranty period, doesn’t sound good for after it runs out.
Hello. Firstly, growl alert. Secondly, Alfa long name lol, which growls lush too. The Audi is a beautiful colour. Alfa, Beemer front, Masseratti/Audi rear. Very nice balanced looking. Lush looking under the fibre bonnet. 4 pipes always set the rear stance. A fun car with rear wheel that will always kiss you if not alert and it’s greasy. Ceramics great once warm defo, clean rims etc, should last well.
Peddddd i ordered a Giulietta , but thank the holy Lord I cancelled it after the Alfa dealership were a joke !! Factory ordered the Porsche 718 CAYMAN in Gaurds Red....had it 2 weeks now and have to say I am the happiest man alive !!!! You should of been braver a few weeks ago and gone for it...dont think I would drive anything but Porsche now...
You should get it. As Clarkson says : everyone had to own a Alfa once at least ib their life. And I cannot think of any better than this. Plus. It's uncommon. I like that.
I agree about 4WD/AWD. I had an M3 (F80) and it was fun on special days but it was scary as a daily driver. I would not get a RWD car over 400hp again top use on the public roads every day.
Top tip: the optional 19'' rims with the neat "cloverleaf" design are for posing only. They may look great but are made from cast aluminium. Meanwhile the standard 19'' look not as special, but they really are: made from forged aluminium by Fuchs (Germany), so they're more delicate, much lighter and actually more expensive. Alfa charges extra for the cheaper rims, because they know they can - nearly everybody chooses style over substance.
Great review... I live in Germany and am lucky enough to have a 2016 AMG C63s (purchased last year) and the Giulia Quadrifoglio was also high on my shopping list but there were unfortunately not that many 2nd hand around and I couldn't drive one as a result (plus the price point was a bit higher). I am definitely considering this car when it comes time to changeover!! I haven't seen many of your videos yet, but would have probably liked more of a review of some the interior features and the various driving modes, in particular. Thanks.
Hi there. I reviewed the Giulia Quad a while back so this video was more a consideration for if I should buy one. Here is a link to my review... ua-cam.com/video/cm3KmSUFxA8/v-deo.html
The Giulia QV fits beautifully into your garage. A luxury, quick masterpiece. There are risks, with it being under Fiat, but essentially Alfa Romeo's reliability has improved from trash...to acceptable. It's an awesome car and I'd pay a lot more attention to this channel with any new car, but especially this one. It's also practical!
Hopefully you will like whatever ends up in my garage and that you will 'pay a lot more attention' to the channel. It would be great to have you onboard :-)
JOHN DAVID This is so true. I’m in the USA and the dealer where I bought my Giulia (2.0L Q4, not this magnificent QV), is closing their doors. Only needed service once for an oil change and a S/W update and they were fine. But now I’ll need to find another dealer...
Very nice review. The many questions and comments you've stated have been my own as well. I'm now looking for your review of the Stelvio Quadrifoglio as that is my next vehicle of interest. Thanks for a great video. As a sidenote, I spent six years living in the UK while in the USAF, and just loved it so much. Boy do I miss those roads? Thanks again.
Pete. Brilliant car. One thing to note is that it's only from around 2018 that the 5 year warranty came into force. Before that it was 3 years. Something to consider if your buying used. The main thing though is the tyres. Those corsas are summer only. They really are. Many owners have changed to Michelin Mp4s tyres which are much better in the not so hot weather. Really transforms it and makes it more usable. Also if you can afford a 2018 car, the split folding rear seats became an option, which until that point was not available at all. For me the carbon brakes are a no no and standard seats are more than up to the job. Great review by the way. You knew I was waiting for this one. I think you should get one, even if it was just for a year, just for the experience. Cheers
Well well....because of your great informative video sir I’m now a very HAPPY owner of a brand new Quadrophilio. The car I drove today blew me away and makes my S4 and 2011 m3 feel like a Toyota Camry Lol. Yep even got the white. 😁😁.
Pete. Its magnificent. The best Alfa in years. I'd buy it just for that noise and that wonderful engine. If I was in a position where maintenance costs and repair bills weren't an issue, its easily what I'd chose. Although I'm not brave enough to be an Alfa owner, so at the last minute I'd bottle out and buy an M3 Competition. 😉 Enjoy buddy.
I've owned 7 M3s in the last 20 years! I drove M4 for 4 days and I TRIED so hard to love it but I couldn't :( the steering SUCKS and the noise soooo bad :(. I bought the QV and man this car reminds me of E36/E46 with massive power. I bought 10 years warranty for $5000 and I will keep it this long :)
Saloons are beautiful. I’ve always thought way more beautiful than SUVs and I seem drawn to them more easily than even most sports cars, Pagani, Ferrari, Lamborghini and the like not withstanding. I owned an Alfa Milano in ‘87. Returned it under the New York State lemon law. It took me 2 years to get them to give me my money back. That was then, this is now. I intend to once again own an Alfa. I love them, regardless of that experience. And I intend to own a Giulia. P.S. your audio sometimes has rumbling in it. Most UA-camrs don’t pay enough attention to sound quality. Top gear folks are the ones to emulate. Sound is just as important as video
It sounds amazing but like everyone else I have issues about reliability. Most of my mates have had Alfas and all complained about reliability, especially with the electronics. It seems to be a problem with Italian cars. I was speaking to a guy who has recently bought a Maserati Ghibli. He loves it but sometimes it won't start on a cold day.
Have covers for the seats. That's what i do with mine. Either at the backseats or at the front, i just put the cover. There are ones that mount on the front seats headrest to the backseat headrest, 90% protection of the whole back.
I agree with you that if you like a car it makes sense to replace it with another newer version which is what I have just done. I remember that you liked that Alfa at the Goodwood meet and greet. Buy it.
@@davissilvestrs1996 Your embellished claim that the M3 has destroyed the Alfa in every race track is just wishful thinking. BMW has a very decorated history in motor racing but, so has Alfa. Great video. I have just got an B9 RS4 replacing a Guilia QV and agree with all your comments. Need to add that the steel brakes also suffer with the fly by wire numbness bringing it to a standstill, but the standard seats are great too. Being in a heightened state of awareness, especially in cold weather, gets a bit wearing when the ESP is so strict. On a damp cold day you would watch the RS4 disappear from view and the QV tyre noise on a long motorway journey is tiring. Would I have another? In a heartbeat, the RS4 steering feels anaesthetised and its styling invisible. Never been asked to lift the bonnet so many times with the QV. S3 Avant and QV sounds like heaven to me.
I think that the debate is not which is better or worse. They are different. The Alfa steering and turn-in and warm dry grip is stunning (the sound track too) the RS4 is the everyday weapon that carries the dog and passengers and annihilates super-cars whatever the weather (mine does draw comment but because it is Sonoma green).
My advice having owned one no as although it's lovely when it works it's a pain in the arse when it doesn't mine turned out to be a complete lemon full of electrical issues.

I have a 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia. I love it. But it leaves me wanting a Quad now. I have no doubt you'll love it. Go for it!
Thanks for the comment. Great to hear such positive feedback on the ownership experience. They really are a very special car to drive :-)
*It’s a cracking car, beautiful and a proper handful!*
Oh yes !
How is the M2 Comp ?
*why type in bold tho*
Yes, and like the women in our lives, our cars should be a proper handful, otherwise what good are they
It looks absolutely stunning in White!! Alfa designers are on another level!!
Yep 👍
Should I buy the Alfa............? - YES, you should. If you have a soul, you need an Alfa.
👍
Cool
There's no question!
Great review Sir. I took a QV out for a test drive a few days ago and it blew me away. I've owned M3's, 911's, Exige's etc, took the M2 Competition out for a test, but this is an amazing machine. I am in the process of buying one now, and your review echoes all my thoughts.
That is great to hear 👍
I love my Giulia Quad. It has the greatest range of sporty to docile. It's a very safe car. I recommend trying the regular seats. I find them to be more practical. I recommend the regular brakes, but not the stock pads. Change the pads! I drive it in super cold weather and the tires are fine so far. The only issue is that I want to drive it in race mode every day... hard not to. I love my car and have no complaints whatsoever. I say go for it!
It would be great if you could have a Race Mode for the noise but with the traction control still on !
@@kurtmuroki8763 Which pads did you change to? I'm thinking about doing the same..
Hawk semi metallic road. Much better than the generic.
Parts are Ferrari prices¬
But then Ferrari were very involved with the design and development...
I'd say a car you buy with your heart....a car you just go for a drive for the sake of it....a car you will look back over your shoulder every time you park up and walk away...can you put a price on that!

What a ridiculous question... Of course you should! 😁
LOL !
@@PetrolPed I just did. The question to ask yourself is what could you buy for the same money that you'd enjoy more. I couldn't find one. Now have a comp red QF on the drive and I keep peeking out the window to get a look at it. Exciting before you even get in!
agreed but it deserves to go in the garage!@@richarddaltry
The Alfa Giulia QV is a truly fine choice. Cheers for reviewing her. For me Alfa stands out from the usual brands like Audi or BMW ... I live in a big city and usually don't notice all of the generic looking cars, but when an Alfa passes me by, I can't help but notice its styling. It's one of a kind. I hope you will decide to buy one.
Cheers, glad you enjoyed the video :-)
Best car i have ever owned on my second one now.
This car is next level. So tasteful in that white too! Great video as always Ped :)
Cheers Buddy :-)
Alfa Romeo Giulia is the best sedan on the planet !!!
No, BMW M5 is
M50B25 Turbo I disagree, the Alfa is. The e39 was a great M5 (I had one), but the Quadrifoglio is the class leader in my opinion
Sultanoftippoo M5 is way faster on track and straight, more comfortable, way better built, much more special than the Alfa overall.
I like you thinking :-)
in the 80s my dad owned many Alfas i owned many Alfas growing up, none had ever let us down or left us by the side of a motorway.
Cheers
Col
Great cars 👍
That’s great to hear. Thanks 👍
It sucks being poor and a car guy☺
Really :(
There are so many cars out there that I can't afford !
@@PetrolPed yeah but you also can afford so many other nice cars that most of us, *at the moment*, can't afford
It suck to be poor period. But it don't mean you can not be a good person. You can not have everything in life.
Pity, but it is expensive to have a good taste.
Cheers Joey 👍
Congratulations for running in this Alfa Romeo! Absolutely Fantastic.

Yes the cayman may be a better handling car but in a month or two, we'll get bored of it 🤷🏻♂️
That is certainly a consideration :-)
45k kms on my manual Giulia Q. It's been as flawless as I could possibly wish for.
What is it like with a manual ? Brilliant I expect :-)
Yes! My dad has one, he´s absolutely in love with that car. Although it has some miner technical faults

Haha got out of the S4, didn’t even close the door and jumped straight into the Alfa
Ouch...that's not great :-(
this car is the new monalisa should be in a museum
I have a Quadrifoglio and it has been a blast for the year I have had it! If you plan to keep this car as a weekend driver I highly recommend the dealer setup trickle charger. It will keep all unwanted errors away do to battery drainage!
Great tip...thanks 👍
The looks are to die for compared to the German competition. I’d have one, even the standard cars look look at for less budget.
I wonder if they’ll be bringing out a Sportwagon version soon. Do that with 4wd and you have an S4/RS4 rival !! 👍
Oh now that would be ace !!
Thanks for the Sub dude and welcome to the channel 👍
Indeed a great car 👌
Good luck!
I'd not thought about you point regarding low milage cars. Very interesting :-)
and check what problems first models of 2016 had, and check if they were solved by warranty by previous owner
Oh wow...congrats !
What a wonderful car. Love Alfa Romeo
Indeed 👍
Great vid, and absolutely need to buy that car it's perfection
Cheers Iain :-)
The iPad stuck to the dash is the one thing I don't like about the S4 !! One of these at the Spring Sprint would be AWESOME !

Really got me thinking. Going to look for a test drive then go nearly new.
Cheers and looking forward to 2019’s videos.
That is kind of you to say. I've got something very special planned for the Stelvio :-)
Cheers mate

Cheers Geof. I must say I am looking forward to driving the Stelvio !
The driving position in this car is considered perfect! I saw one just like this one in a FCA dealer in Faro, Algarve and gosh it is so beautiful because it is not normal white but pearl white. Absolutely an amazing car.

Five year warranty is nice but any major problem that happen with a new car in the first 5 years would be covered by Consumer Rights Act 2015 anyway.
So the warranty doesn't add that much.
It's Only Me What country do you live in where all cars car covered by a 5 year Consumer Rights Act? In the UK it’s 1 year.
Just watched the vid, always had a soft spot for Alfa's, never owned one. Been lucky enough to have the use of a friends Quadrifoglio for a day and yes,, it's awesome, like a speeding bullet, but, in all my driving years I've never once owned a saloon car, the type of car that's never floated my boat so to speak,, but that Alfa is a STUNNER that's for sure,,,,,,
They are mega things 👌
Really enjoyed this weeks vlog Ped and nice to see something a little different from Alpha. I went to Le Mans last year and a buddy had one of these but had to go home in limp mode. I would always be concerned about alpha reliability, even with a 5 yr warranty.
I’ll bet your buddy wasn’t impressed, especially where it decided to go into limp mode. So there’s issues even within the warranty period, doesn’t sound good for after it runs out.
Yes sadly the same thing happened to mine as well as well as other issues.
@@SCYorks Seems to be the way when the Italians build 'normal' cars, just can't get the reliability.

You should get it. As Clarkson says : everyone had to own a Alfa once at least ib their life. And I cannot think of any better than this.
Plus. It's uncommon. I like that.
Both of your points are high up on my list of reasons why I think I should maybe get one :-)
I agree about 4WD/AWD. I had an M3 (F80) and it was fun on special days but it was scary as a daily driver.
I would not get a RWD car over 400hp again top use on the public roads every day.
That is why I like my Audi with Quattro :-)
What a magnificent machine Pete, utterly beautiful, Very tempting indeed but what staggering depreciation over just two years 😯
Good in that it allows me to consider one, but not good it you were the first owner !
This is my Lotto car...great car for a disabled person like me. Love the 🍀
Lol. Im disabled as well and my mobility wagon is an old passat r36, which i just cant part with....yet.
Really interesting. Thank you 👍
Buy it! 💪🏻🍀🏎 you will not regret, owh you won’t! 🍀😉

So much depends on your local dealer. I've had shocking experience with BMW and Audi in the past.
Where were you based ?
do it!!!! buy the beast!
Cheers

@itscommoncents Good to know pal, that Alfa has captured everybody's hearts over the last few years. Enjoy! 😁
I am sure many people will do the same. The next car I need to drive is an M3 Comp !
@@PetrolPed does this Alfa feel like it's going to throw you into a hedge when you least expect it due to all that power through the rears?
Thanks for the feedback 👍
It sounds amazing but like everyone else I have issues about reliability. Most of my mates have had Alfas and all complained about reliability, especially with the electronics. It seems to be a problem with Italian cars. I was speaking to a guy who has recently bought a Maserati Ghibli. He loves it but sometimes it won't start on a cold day.
For some that is the whole point of having an Italian car. It's like playing a game of Russian Roulette ;-)
Have covers for the seats. That's what i do with mine. Either at the backseats or at the front, i just put the cover. There are ones that mount on the front seats headrest to the backseat headrest, 90% protection of the whole back.
Good plan :-)
Cut de Pie Fails Exactly what I have in my QF when transporting the dog. Mine is a 35 kilo Weimaraner, and it works very well
yess!
I agree with you that if you like a car it makes sense to replace it with another newer version which is what I have just done. I remember that you liked that Alfa at the Goodwood meet and greet. Buy it.
I've liked them since I first saw one :-)
an m3 killing icon buy it
I so need to drive an M3 now !
M3 has been around for more than 30 years, it still is the most iconic sports saloon, you can't kill the m3
@@davissilvestrs1996 There's a first time for everything. RIP M3... Amen.
@@JohnG-tv3gc How come the M3 has destroyed the Alfa in every track battle then? Lmao.
Better luck next time alfa fanboys
@@davissilvestrs1996
Your embellished claim that the M3 has destroyed the Alfa in every race track is just wishful thinking. BMW has a very decorated history in motor racing but, so has Alfa.
I'm happy for you to reminisce the happy memories of the M3 past glories, whilst the rest of us living in the present enjoy the Alfa. ua-cam.com/video/4-4c6E77obs/v-deo.html
Awesome video my friend! Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
For what? Buy a 500 abarth and you will be also happy. For this car you need to be a millionaire...
Not true....you are referring to high maintenance German crap....
Exhaust note is magnificent...buy it!

www.osv.ltd.uk/how-reliable-are-porsche/ here's a great quote from this source...." It hasn’t been easy for Porsche when it comes to dependability. Contrary to popular belief, the more luxurious the car, unfortunately does not equate to more reliable. In fact, it has been proven quite the opposite.
In the past, Porsche have been at the bottom of the league tables. In 2019, it was named the second least reliable car brand in the UK, coming just above Bentley. The study was conducted by WhatCar? And WarrantyDirect and analysed 37 car brands and 50,000 live insurance policies. And the results showed that Porsche were not reliable at all."

I'd have an RS4 everyday of the week and twice on a Sunday :-)
Nick Ground needs the Ceramics
I think that the debate is not which is better or worse. They are different. The Alfa steering and turn-in and warm dry grip is stunning (the sound track too) the RS4 is the everyday weapon that carries the dog and passengers and annihilates super-cars whatever the weather (mine does draw comment but because it is Sonoma green).
My advice having owned one no as although it's lovely when it works it's a pain in the arse when it doesn't mine turned out to be a complete lemon full of electrical issues.
JL H What went wrong with yours JL?
@@Murtayafourfun Intermittent engine warning light coming on sat nav constantly freezing and failure to start 3 times went into limp mode as well.

Oh dear.....man discovers Alfa Romeos. Why has it taken this long is the only question to ask ? I mean people have been raving about and at them for about 100 years. If you have been stuck in German cars then thats your fault. Alfas have been special for a long time. Welcome to the club.....but hey Indiana.. watch out for that snake !
