#Deftones #BlackStallion #Korea
This is what I call an unmix. It's like a remix except instead of adding to and changing an original song, you just remove the original song completely.
I’m getting the impression these are just songs these artists have laying around and some throw in some Chino vocals for a tiny connection to the original song. I don’t think any of these remixes are inspired by the original tracks.
In fairness, it probably is a lot of the original song. It's just been processed beyond recognition and then those parts made into a new song.
Sounds cool either way.
@@sharinglungs3226 Shinoda's remix is tho
@@sharinglungs3226 It's definitely a hard 50/50.. a few of the remixes absolutely crushed it, with deep and recognizable elements of the songs but transformed into something familiar yet brand new. But the other remixes, like this one, are a joke.
I really like this but it doesn't sound even a little bit like Korea. Less a remix and more a totally different work
Heard that! Seems to be the case with a lot of these "remixes". They're kinda hit and miss... Change was a real bummer.. but this at least sounds cool.
Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed with this whole thing. Im not a fan of techno type stuff usually. I've been a deftones fan since the late 90s and this is the only album I've not really liked
this be like the song that was playin in the VIP lounge or the alley when Korea was bumpin in the front of the house.
Can someone point out to me at what time in this song that it even resembles Korea?
0:00
its...not supposed to
@@concertino58 well then it isn't Deftones. They didn't even have anything from the original song
@@DRGEngineer Duh it isn't deftones. its an edit/remix by Trevor Jackson using some stems/vocals from the track.
@@concertino58 listen too Passenger, Knife Prty and Teenager. Those are remixes done right, especially Passenger. Change, Korea and Rx Queen we're all very weak and weren't Deftones at all.
If this was labelled as literally any other song ever made I wouldn't even realize it. It sounds like an Interlude that they called "korea"
If you look around enough you'll happen upon a remix, rendition, demo etc.
They should’ve posted The Boys Republic
Agree!
They should have added it to the anniversary edition. I’m fine with not having another mediocre remix to be disappointed by.
I love The Boys Republic... probably one of my favorite Deftones songs, and a reason why I was excited for this album
:(
Deftones have been my favorite band for years, but I have yet to hear one of these remixes that I like.
Think this is my favorite of all the remixes so far. Dark and driving. Love it.
It's a great tune. It's just not a remix of Korea. More like he got hold of the master recording and created a new song from each individual sonic element.
Oh okay👀
This is awesome, except they left out the Deftones Korea part....
Lmao! My thoughts exactly
Lol
This. This is why comments sections rock. 👏🏻
This is bad man.
How is this Korea?
How is it not?
@@Aloysious0013 Joe biden help me i can't recognize it! Ear exam asmr ear exam asmr oowEY
It's Korea....remixed
@@concertino58 Just remix no Korea
It ain't. Its the Korea remix.
this would've fit seamlessly on nin - things falling apart
underrated comment
yeah because it's shit
Yeah, was just thinking how the BS album has that industrial electronic vibe without shamelessly sounding like NIN. Kinda shows Deftones’ range and ability. I do know Chino was influenced by the New Wavy stuff from the 80’s. It would be interesting if they turned up the dial on their more mechanical/machine type sounds.
Lovely
Yaaaaasss! Jam.
I know it doesn't sound anything like Korea. But it's my favorite of the remixes. Love this song.
Either way. Both go hard AF👀
My favorite!!
I’d love to see an El-P mix someday
Would be beyond epic el p remixes adrenaline
feelin ya'll. they did have a track, kind of, together on handsome boy modeling school's album. chino. el p . cage
Really wanted to like this remixed album. Maybe I don’t know what it means to remix a song. I appreciate how each song is unique but feel some of these missed having the original songs fingerprints on them.
This could be any other song rebranded as Korea and I wouldn't know. Where's the remix tho? Sorry but don't get it.
Yeah, you don't. It samples the original and processes it beyond recognition.
@@movimentodoscacos that may be, but it's done badly. Awesome song, with a let down of a remix.
I was so eager to hear the Korea remix due to the quality of most of the others. The remixes of Elite and Knife Party in particular are excellent, but this is just insulting. Nothing of the original song remains, and even outside of that aspect, it's just not a well formed tune in my books.
I’m so glad that I got here early. 20 years of this album and I’m still listening.
If it wasn’t for the title I would have no clue what song this was a remix of. Might as well call this the Chino or Frank mix tape and not a Wp remix album.
After hearing this I had to listen to Korea 10 times to get the bad taste out. Where is the remix?
This song is excellent. It would be a great opener for Deftones Gig
The comments on some of these remixes are actually fascinating. There are those that think a remix has to have clear elements from the original version and resemble it in some way, have the same mood and atmosphere, otherwise it's not a remix. And there are those that think that a remix is supposed to be a complete reinterpretation of the original, making something entirely new and completely different, alien even and removed from its original context, but by using the original as building blocks to that purpose. I agree with the latter, but to each their own. This album seems to have a mixture of both for all to enjoy, which is well played, I guess.
Remix meaning: "a new or different version of a recorded song that is made by changing or adding to the original recording of the song".
so many fuckin herbs in these comments lmao
this remix still sucks balls.
where's the original recording?
@@MrChickenspit i mean true. I don't like this one so much.
I actually like it
Need to remix other albums now :)
"nigh time, cavity" starts at 3:20. you could barely hear it, use earphones.
Mmmm beautiful
i'm a fan of both deftones and trevor jackson. this is totally a trevor jackson style of remix. it's pure gold. trevor, if you're looking at the comment section, don't listen to them.
I would enjoy hearing one line in his full clarity delaying into the murky core at any given point "you like attention"
It feels like a perfect intro to my imagined "warriors 2020" remix film I would like to credit you now on it
Kind of like Aphex Twin's remixes of NIN on Further Down the Spiral - better than all the other tracks (I've heard so far) but I can't hear any of the band being remixed here
No semblance of the original song to be heard
That's kind of the point.
Thats why we call it remixes
@@locosychocrazy1 Is it though? Isn't it supposed to be a remix? This is just a stand-alone electronic beat that has nothing to do with anything.
@@aaronlinnell2388 a remix is taking the parts of the song and rebranding them however you want in your own style it doesn't have to follow the same setup as the original doesnt even have to have the vocals its just whatever they want to creatively cone up with, also i honestly really like this remix but its fine if people dont it is totally different then deftones and it seems like people were more expecting closer to covers than actual remixes
@@aaronlinnell2388 exactly
Love this. Probably the only person in this thread who's a fan of both Deftones and Trevor Jackson's work. I can't hear much of Korea in it like others say but I love the interpretation, if that's what it is.
This song is good for use opiates😎.
Классный ремикс!
“Fire it up!”😎
3:23 you can hear at least chinos whisper vocal of the chorus
I'm starting to understand why the first release from this remix album was the Purity Ring take on Knife Prty.....
The audio sounds remastered on the original songs for the deluxe edition and it sounds awesome🤘
dude that’s so sick.... might have to whack the new versions on the playlist!
This track is the meeting of two geniuses
I mean I like the song, but how is this Korea?
This is Fucking Great..,
Primer Comentario
Raro este mix muy raro 👊🏻 MX represent
💙💙💙💙💙💙
I kinda like this. Whatever it is...
When does this sound like Korea ? 🧐
D E F T O N E S _💚💛🇧🇷
even without lyrics this works brilliantly. but it doesn't feel like a remix. more a new track
ebm + deftones.. that’s some real 2020 shit. couldn’t be much more unexpected
This sounds like an old Prodigy track haha
Would be cool if it sounded like Korea. Even just slightly, ffs.
Literally don't hear anything from the original song. Wtf is this?
Tienes aquí una canción bastante original y compleja en diseño sonoro y te preocupa eso? 😂 (Copy and paste that in Google translate xd)
This sound like a dub-step, JK flesh remix or a GODFLESH song.
Lucky #3
Looking like a #1
Korea in name only
Abis baca komen2nya, fans deftones banyak yg katro juga ya ternyata
sounds like a score to a really bad secret agent movie.
It’s the second act to third act montage of the protagonist and antagonist getting ready to settle their scores.
It's a great track, but not a good remix.
@@133Nomad N Korean v S Korean agents face-off in an abandoned smelting works, which is still in full working order for some reason.
Oh yeah, i hear it. That silent part. At the end. The very end.
Bad ass! I don’t care what you call it.
this is the North Korean version
They shoulda named this song Chosun.
can anyone tell me who "trevor jackson" is? XD i actually like this remix but i cant find anything on trevor jackson (other than an rnb artist who i doubt is the actual trevor jackson that remixed this XD)
Cyberpunk vibes. I freaking love this.
reminds me of a battlefield 4 remix lol. that's why im sticking with it
Deftones 2077
They should put this song in Cyberpunk2077
I think all these songs were meant to play side by side with the originals, I'm actually going to try that
i think either side by side or as intro/outro
i've never had music touch my face before 3:21
you can hear korea - in the idea - strong ambiental heaviness underlying the whole track - so please, please don't be so harsh. deftones, as always gave us beautiful, charged, pieces that sound different and are reimagined because - guess what - it's been TWENTY years and this is what they wanted us to hear again. i too am kind of confused with some tracks and i do miss the usual deftones' rich well rounded and still scruff riffs that i am so used to. IT IS BLACK STALLION TOO, NOT JUST WHITE PONY.
ya no los escucha nadie men
It’s a remix? It’s not supposed to sound exactly like Korea. I fucking love this one.
Hi lovely humans of precious taste. Would love to know what you think about our new songs. Thank YOU so much for your time. cheers, WR
Me siento en el 2077
Whose song is this again?
The thing is i actually really like this, this is my type of music but im struggling to find the bits of Korea in it... maybe i will check out this artist, this is good music nonetheless
errmm... this sounds nothing like the Trevor Jackson i just UA-cam'd is there another one lol
Ok i remembered what it sounds like, sounds like Massive Attack, thats why i like it.
Great track, but sounds like they just sampled a couple snippets from the actual song, and created a completely different track.
I wouldn't have minded that, but I don't even hear the sampled snippets.
BadumTsss.mp3
Love this. Just wish it has some semblance of Korea lol
personally i love the vibe this album was going for, the electronica aspect of it all. LOVE to see this vibe and perspective
Where's Korea?
This one slaps. Re-remix house of flies. :| The first one was anti climactic
Don't worry I'll remix house of flies give it some justice
Саундтрек для входа в подвальное помещение .
Ok these are dope. But nothing is beating Shinoda's remix of Passenger.
Street Carp and Pink Maggit remixes are the best, in my humble opinion sir.
RX Queen is the Winner bro
you're commenting on all these remix but so am i, lol.
@@blackspring3207 They're unique and I love them.
This dont even sound like Korea u can name any other song like this...
I love remixes & I love the deftones. But this...
I paid $147 for this. Oooooooh noooooooo!
Reminds me of Cyberpunk
#13
Not sure I get it.
Sounds like a ufc weigh in song sweet
Mike from Linkin Park killed it at the chorus. So did Purity Ring. Check out this CRAZY sex jam from them ua-cam.com/video/rlpb0kBiDjA/v-deo.html
I like some of the other remixes but this one is just a sweet beat they tacked the name onto. I don't get it.
Cool, beats.and stuff. No Deftones.
the song by itself is good but it does something that it shouldn't... it makes me want to listen to linkin park remix's. it reminds me of nothing that was old and is leaving me with wanting something else.
This is just a instrumental song if i spelled that right at all prob not but aint there supposed to be words in it 😂😂😂
The song is good. I like it for what it is. But take away the name and I have no idea it is Deftones.
nice job rippin off Noise Unit by Rhys Fulber
This song is cool!😄 if it was it's own thing and not supposed to be a remix😐
Ah yes, no Korea
i like this track, i just don't like it as a remix of korea. i expected more.
The dynamics are quite static
