July 8th 1930 my great grandpa died when a big piece of slate fell on him and crushed him. He was 30 years old. I have nothing but upmost respect to these great men that risk their lives everyday for America.
This is a very high seam. My dad was a pinner man, the last mine he was in was 18 inches in some spots, but mostly about 22 inches. He had to bend the bolts twice to get them in, then straightened them. Miners are the toughest men alive.
Much respect brother, i was a miner then became a section boss with 13 years total. Moved, quit it all, and now i work in a steel mill

The coal seam was only 42in
@@andrewduncan3182 good on ya! I couldn't do it.
But the place was higher than 42". He should have raised his canopy up.
@@Gooseberries773 the canopy wouldn’t go up no higher. It’s all the way up. It’s a low coal pinner, canopy wasn’t built to go any higher
@@andrewduncan3182 i just assumed thats where you were comfortable with it, i dunno how yall do that low coal shit lol
Would love to do this for a living hopefully this industry stays around for years to come best of luck to you
Sometimes you have to go slower to be your best. Bad top is a good example of that.
