    Looks good.
    As an XH2S shooter, I think Fuji just need to up the Auto Eye aspect of their Face/Eye Detection. I do a lot of event work and too often will the AF stick on the furthest away eye when the face is more portrait (to the side) orientated. It doesn't switch over enough when there is clearly a better eye to grab (so I have to bind a button to toggle the eye which helps but has its own quirks).
    The GFX 100II is the first Med Form camera I would entertain saving and investing in, because I feel now the usage won't end with the same level of frustration that occurs with other older Fuji cameras. With Medium Format that DoF can be super thin (with great power comes great responsibility!), finally it looks like it is armed well enough to take advantage of its perks properly.

    Will be interested to see your more in depth review after you have put this through its paces. Autofocus is also of great importance to me, as I get older unfortunately so does my eyesight... so whereas once upon a time, manual focus was almost all I ever used, now accurate eye detect is a top priority in what I need from my cameras...

    I just received my Fringer adapter. I compared it to the Techart adapter I currently own. The Fringer adapter is far superior as it supports Fujis PDAF and will focus your lens to whatever it is tracking. I am getting realtime focusing and tracking using my EF Sigma and Canon lenses using the Fringer adapter. This is the one to get.

    Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much! If you have the time, please do a test on video tracking autofocus in the GF video modes (these modes use more of the sensor) using your different lenses. How well does it face and/or eye detect and track? How does forward/backward movement differ from left/right movement with respect to tracking? Thanks again for your timely video! You are the only one directly addressing the most critical question- IS THE AUTOFOCUS TRACKING NOW FAST AND RELIABLE? Thanks bro! Congratulations on your new purchase. I will be making the same purchase in December! 🤙☺️

      You bet. I just photographed a family session and a small elopement-style wedding. The autofocus was amazing. Not R5 or R6 II speeds but very accurate with static subjects. I used the native GF 80mm f1.7, Sigma EF 105mm, and Canon 35mm F1.4 II. All were mostly in focus. I used it as my primary camera for all of the portraits.

Taking photos you don't care about doesn't bring anything, you won't know the true number of bad photos and the pain associated with it, which is why you like or dislike this autofocus. Hi Ely, would you do a comparison between the GFX100II vs the Hasselblad X2D? “Manny Ortiz” has a video where he seemed to show the X2D as having a tonality that the GFX doesn’t have due to their colour science. It’s called “I was wrong about medium format”. Saw some comments that his test wasn’t really “fair”. Thought maybe you might be able to put together something a bit more rigorous to shed some perspective on this.
    If consistent with Manny Ortiz’s findings, I’m wondering if a custom colour profile in LRC applied to the GFX raw files might close that gap given the 100mp cameras share the same sensor and I think it’s just a matter of how the cameras are interpreting and matching up colours. And not that Hasselblad is somehow squeezing more out of the sensor than Fuji 🤔

    • @ThePhotographerGuy
      @ThePhotographerGuy  Рік тому

      I'm not to sure about the X2d but it feels more like it has less buttons and options. the first gen was really slow. Don’t get me wrong I’d love to have one myself and if I had to use ff lenses until I could afford the gfx lenses I would, this camera is for taking beautiful pictures at high resolution, it’s not a how fast can it focus camera, it’s deliberate shooting, can’t imagine how fast my pc would fill up with images that size , something else to consider, I had to get more cloud storage for my iPhone 15 pro max shooting at 48 mpx all the time, anyway just my thoughts, happy shooting, the envy is real

Fujis AF is obviously better than the AF of 5-10-20 years ago, but when you're comparing to something like the A7iv or A7RV or any of Canons cameras the amount of misses is hard to ignore, considering that those cameras almost always hit the focus. thank you for sharing this additional info...it just isnt convincing enough for the enourmos price since i dont have enough work lined up to invest so much... maybe in 3-4 years Fuji will be there but as of right now, their biggest issues revolve around Eye-AF, and they are very important (Camera Greenboxing the correct eye but still missing focus badly needs to stop asap!)@@ThePhotographerGuy

      Sony is fast for sure. I use the R5 and R6 II for anything moving and the GFX when things slow down.

      This is hilarious... I will take night and day quality over speed. It all depends on the job.

      @@icam7007 Yeah, Sony makes good cameras. Fuji is trying to make this a FF competitor, and maybe the next gen will be, but FF and MF aren't competitors at this point. The IQ on the GFX is nuts and really opens up abilities for deep crops, and is great for product photography with pixel shift for what, 400+ megapixel photos? Actually nuts. But other than landscape and product photography, the probably only other reasonable use-case for GFX is gonna be studio portraiture.
