Hi Greg, as I mentioned I do most of my own work. Once in awhile I reach out for info regarding my project. By the way I haven’t done anything with the fenders or rear qt’s yet. Did want to say thanks for getting back . Always appreciate your info. Terry…
Estoy super enamorado de este TOYOTA FJ40 . He visto preparaciones anteriores y son excepcionales. Justamente del año en que nací yo. Si pudiera me lo compraría. Felicidades Greg!!! Una obra de arte excelente!!!
Every FJ - 40 build is great, but I start in back: 63 tailgate on 67 body, pintle hitch from semi, tire rack from nissan, napa semi stainless tail lights, gto reverse light.. Matter of fact, besides frame, f + r axles(4) axle housings, that is only 65 parts left. You build your OWN FJ-40!!
Wow this 1971 Toyota Landcruiser FJ-40 always brings back many memories of my childhood, I was 10 🙂. Excellent workmanship, excellent attention to detail. Congratulations to the whole team!
So awesome. A lot of detail work, unique modifications, and patience. So cool that you rolled it out this time of year with the Fall background. Awesome work! Wish I had one of these.
Such an awesome build! Can’t wait to see all the footage of all those time lapse videos of all the work and countless hours of footage. Blood Sweat and tears👍 Super nice!
SWEET! HOPE DO 30-40 MILES OF TRAIL WHEN YOU GET TO LV AND VIDEO IT! CHRISSEN THAT WORK OF ART WITH SOME WESTERN,RED DIRT.. BEST WISHES OUT THERE GREG AND HAVE FUN!
@@gregsrestorations7019 OK. I can now rest assured. I guessed u wanted to show off how clean those exposed under is. I have a bit younger than ur toy, a 1998 Corolla. i had her undercoated B4 i moved from LA, CA to NJ. Also, i always washed her under, crouching down on my knees to get dirt n esp., NaCl off. Also wash where no one would dink bout doing, the rocker panel, its bottom, and where that panel meets the floor sheet metal. And, i open the doors n wipe off water, and re-wax. Same goes to opening the engine hood, wipe off its edges, remove water from the drain channels. Same w the trunk hood. So far, no major engine repairs. Only replaced the water pump, ~2 times. Same starter. I use this starter perhaps 5x more than other drivers as i turn it off at long signals, going down a long LA Fwy hills (i don't do dat anymore as i loose the power brakes n pwr steering), then just B4 it levels out, i turn on the engine (the gear is in Neutral going down). And i finally changed my Radiator for the 1st time here in a SE State where they like Salty road during Winters. Same goes w my transmission n all the drive train. No repairs whatsoever!. But again, i have a bit less than 300Kmi. Replaced exhaust pipe and CA required Catalytic converter once. Oh, one more ding: Unlike everybody else, taste the liquid 1st B4 u wash ur KAaa at a public/commercial car wash. They can concentrate corrosives, like NaCl etc if they recycle the water. No, u don't need to drink a tea spoon full. just smear the 'water' on ur finger to taste. U n ur friends r truly capable mechanics, craftsmen, n artist w also able to use modern comforts. Cheers!
FJCO sells an adapter that allows the semi float rear axle to mount the current production 70 series drums and hardware to have the parking break in the rear drums. You have to buy everything from the backing plate out to make it happen. I dislike the parking brake on the t-case.
Greg, I have a 74 fj40, been wanting to put disc brakes out front. The 74 has no caliber brackets on the knuckle. Is there a knuckle from a late 70’s-early 80’s Toyota truck or 4 runner that will mate-up to the 74 axel.
Hey Terry, yes we can put later year disc setup on your truck. Thanks for watching the video and if you have any other questions please email us at gregsrestorationsllc@gmail.com
Hi Greg, don’t know if you remember me, I bought though’s 2 fenders and the rear qt’s from you. I’ll be doing my own work as I mentioned. I appreciate any info you can pass my way regarding my project. Did want to thank you for getting back. Would you know if there is a cruiser event schedule out there?

wheel wells, and the floor.

If this is a 1971 like the title says it would have come with an f engine not a 2f. The 2f was introduced in 1975.
Lol yes we know that. The vehicle is 5 different trucks put together. It's titled as a 76.
Curious why you wouldn’t paint the body panels separately if you’re going to all this trouble anyway.
Specifically taking the tub off the frame.
Ever build a restomod landcruiser? Or a regular landcruiser restoration. If so you'll understand the struggles we face daily with old shitboxes
I know the struggle intimately.

Its not a Toyota, without the original hart
The original engine was a copy of a chevrolet engine though
