I love this episode. It is beautifully filmed, with gorgeous lighting and I love the location. I like the story. It is not so different from other historicals.
This episode is my favourite of Series 2, and possibly one of my favourite RTD written episodes. The premise is interesting and as it’s a story set in the past it makes an interesting period piece, and whilst it may not get your blood pumping it paves the way for the overarching plot of this series and this episode is an integral part of this series as a whole. The best thing about this episode I enjoy is the Werewolf, especially as it has aged well considering that the CGI was from 2006. And I do like the horror style of this story, and the sound effects and visual effects do help with that. Overall it is my favourite episode of this series as I believe it is a well constructed story and teases greater things to come.
I love it. I definitely watched it at the time but I can’t remember the day that clearly. I actually like the monk part. I don’t get the “It’s not that Doctor Who-y”. My favourite part is the host. So disturbing. Also scenes where The Doctor and Rose are having fun in the Tardis. I miss scenes like that. It feels they have a genuine connection.
I remember watching this when it came out I was 7 and I thought this episode is terrifying I always loved the movies where it’s about running away from monsters and then eventually defeated them which is why I loved the episode.
"Tooth and Claw" isn't really one of my favourites, it's mostly a fairly generic run-around with a big scary monster, and not much more than that, but it is a much better episode than "New Earth", and honestly should've been the opening episode instead. I say that partly because it's much more exciting, and features much less grating comedy, but also because it offers a much better set up for the series arc, since it better establishes Ten and Rose's dynamic for this series, and how their kind of toxic relationship ultimately leads to its own downfall, since their playful and carefree attitude is what leads Queen Victoria to banish them and set up the Torchwood Institute, whose actions in the finale indirectly lead to the Doctor and Rose being separated. I've seen a lot of people level criticisms at this episode of making the Doctor and Rose very unlikeable, especially Rose who keeps trying to get Queen Victoria to say "we are not amused", and yeah the two of them are rather grating at times, but that very much seems to be the point. That aside, this is a pretty strong episode on the whole. I love the very creepy gothic atmosphere of the first half, with Sir Robert tries to warn the heroes that something is amiss, all while we slowly build up to the Werewolf's transformation. Speaking of the Werewolf, the CGI used to create it holds up surprisingly well for 2006, and the gruesome offscreen deaths do a lot to make it feel like a formidable presence. Also, the performance of the man playing the wolf's human host is very good, with his soft voice and pure black eyes, he's arguably scarier than the Wolf itself (my younger sister certainly thought so, and so did Steven Moffat's son apparently). And as you'd expect from a RTD script, the supporting characters are excellent. Much like Simon Callow's turn as Charles Dickens in the previous series' "The Unquiet Dead", Pauline Collins' performance as Queen Victoria really carries the episode, as she makes the monarch feel like a real fleshed-out individual rather than a simple caricature. Sir Robert and Lady Isobel also make for great supporting characters too, with Derek Ridell and Michelle Duncan doing an excellent job at showing the strengths of their marriage. On top of that, the script has loads of great lines, such as the shout out to Jamie McCrimmon, the jokes about Rose being underdressed for 1879, and this little exchange between Victoria and the Doctor when discussing the Koh-i-Noor diamond: "It is said that whoever possesses it must surely die." "Well that's true of anything if you wait long enough." There's not much that makes this a particularly memorable or great episode, and there are a few misjudged moments (the pre-title sequence in particular feels very out of place, and the editing is incredibly slapdash during the sequence). Having said that, it's a pretty fun romp on the whole, and exactly the sort of episode you can put on when you just want to have fun for 45 minutes. It's not great though....that comes next time
1990 Sylvester McCoy's seventh Doctor regenetes into Paul McGann's eighth Doctor and the show undergoes a major revame. Out goes the paper mache monsters in comes the Weeping Angels. 1993 Star Trek DS9 starts on CBS and BBC2 with Avery Brooks as the first black captain in the history of Star Trek. The BBC announces the Ninth Doctor will be played by a black actor. 1994 Paul McGann's eighth Doctor regenetes into David Heywood's Ninth Doctor. The regeneration takes place during the Time War and it's David Heywood's Doctor which uses the Moment
Think the tenth Doctor was in DC Legends of Tomorrow. When Constantine shows up Chronos says not another trench coat wearing Brit. The last one show up unannounced in a blue box which was bigger on the inside...weird. Ray/Atom: inter dimensional transference. Gideon: guys can we focus on the mission
Was Christmas Invasion before the series or not? Because torchwood was big in that, and since it was regeneration story I assumed it was before this series. (I came on as a fan later so I don’t know for sure)
Would you ever considering doing some more unreleased soundtracks from episodes (as yours were really good) also if you look at the episode Last of the Timelords, there's actually no video of the episode soundtrack to that particular episode, it'd be good to see it!

for some reason this is one of my favourite stories, I really love it

Great video as always! I always thought Tooth and Claw was often overlooked.
Rose: one is not amused. The Doctor: I don't think her Majesty is listening lol
I think it's pretty good

I think Tooth and claw is a great episode. Very atmospheric and creepy!
It’s actually quite mad to think I watched this as a 3 year old

Capaldi. A great doctor. Tenant and wolf
If the classic series wasn't cancelled here's 90s Doctor Who would have change the series thanks to cultural impact of Star Trek
