The Wizard of Oz is the first and the most popular among the 14 books in the Oz series. It tells the story of Dorothy who, along with her dog, is magical transported to the land of Oz by a cyclone.
L. Frank Baum was an American author known for his children's fantasy books. In addition to the 14 books in the Oz series, he had written 41 more novels, 83 short stories and over 200 poems. Although, none of them gained the widespread popularity of The Wizard of Oz published in 1900.
