As much as I love the kitty content I feel obliged to inform you that you do in fact need multiple litterboxes, one for each cat plus 1 is the general rule. Also the toilet training thing can be quite stressfull for the cat cause they can't burry it, it can also cause back problems especially as they get older.

I always heard you were meant to have at least n+1 boxes for n cats. Something about giving the cats alternatives if they don't want to use their normal litter box because it's too dirty or there's a scary noise near it or something.

Btw for anyone who isn't a cat person: yes they're weird about litter boxes lol but every cat is different.
we have 4 cats in our house, and we have 6 littler boxes because 2 out of the 4 refuse to shit in the box if any of the other cats have even pissed in it, they'll literally just shit next to it instead, so we try to keep enough backups lol
One of the 4 cats also for some reason has this ritual everytime he shits where he runs from litter box to litter box before randomly choosing one, and when he finishes his business he literally jumps out of the box and sprints away at lightspeed as if his poop has come alive and is trying to swallow him whole.
It's the little things that make having cats so entertaining lol it's like having a bunch of unpredictable sleep deprived crackheads in your house at all times except they only want food and warmth
I also knew a car that would bolt out of the litter box like something just scared the shit out of them.
It's actually a survival behavior, in the wild they would want to get far away from their scent because it would draw predators. Their most vulnerable time is when they are using the bathroom.

A small fact that might be helpful for someone somewhere.
The little water fountain is made mainly for cats that don't drink enough water from standard bowl (or don't process enough of it out of wet food), as them not drinking enough can lead to dehydration and cause severe health problems or even death
But yeah - it pretty much is just a fancy bowl and it's expensive as hell

Water fountains are actually better for cats, they are naturally dehydrated and the fountain encourages them to drink more. Hydration helps prevent UTI's and Crystalline blockages. In that case, it also helps prevent kidney disease because they are drinking more and flushing out the toxins, kidney disease being the most common health issue in senior cats.
Standing water isn't that great for your cat either moving water helps to prevent them from becoming sick, not to mention they have filters. In the wild, an animal would choose a flowing stream to drink from over standing water and bacterias are way less likely to form.
[Getting cat nip spray is less messy but also helps them know where their positive scratching areas are or just can allow them to relax with new items you get them.]

! notes to help ludwig or any other new cat owners:
toys - my current cat's favourite toy cycles month to month, and every cat i've had cycled sleeping spots monthly-ish as well. Although, an older cat i had ONLY liked crinkly mice toys so it depends.
litter box - you're supposed to have one extra litter box i.e. 2 cats 3 boxes, my cat shits in one box and then goes and pees in the other its really fuckin weird.
cat backpack - both are fine, i think that one just promotes more cat comfort over 'looking cool'. i like leaving backpacks/carriers open all the time so they treat it like a bed and are more comfortable inside it when they have to go to the vet
water fountain - promotes drinking water because cats easily get dehydrated and it also helps entertain their dumb kitty brains because bubbling stuff.
food - cats can be sensitive to certain meats and additives and most are sensitive to dairy. find a food it likes that makes it have good shits and stick with it and if you switch foods, mix em together slowly so their tummy doesn't get shocked.
food dish - the flat water dish in the video is great so trying to eat doesn't hurt the cat's whiskers, maybe they already knew that but thought i would say that's a good job on their part
all in all cats are complex and i hope this doesn't come off preachy, just some things i've learned that i noticed that ludwig could get some tips in this video. I'm sure qt knows more about cats than ludwig so if he's learning from her then they can do with this random comment as they will. hope this helps!
