Honestly it depends on the persons perception with remakes of songs. A lot of people say the original is better, because its nostalgic for them and they probably heard that/listened to it when it came out (at the very least they obviously listened to it and liked it way before a remake) so their bias and level of standard is already the original so its naturally a high bar to pass for most people. Nothing bad about it, just it might not be about how good the remake actually is/isnt, more so that its about the original being nostalgic and it will be hard to surpass it to those people.

For covers it's all about whether you can at least make it the same, hopefully make it better, or totally fail at it. oh, and Maggie saying she has big face, i don't see it. i also don't really get the whole Asian like for small faces. Some people look better with it, some don't. Kang Mi-na (Produce 101, Gugudan) was one of my favorites (visually) when she had a chubbier face, but it switched to Han Hye-ri (Produce 101, I.B.I.) when Mina got too skinny. The goal is to not really look like everyone else, however you can do that.
