    My first pair of skates I bought were the holographic Impalas. I didn't skate in them very long as they just didn't fit correctly. My second pair was the Moxi panthers which I loved! You said you have the panthers. I was hoping to get some beach bunnies but the only shop where I live only has lollies as far as moxi skates go. Are lollies similar to the panthers, and do you recommend for a beginner? I know what all the UA-camrs say but I want to hear from the comments and viewers lol

    • @wahs_h10
      @wahs_h10 Рік тому +1

    Have no idea what my first skates were as a child, except that they were the old style metal ones that you tie onto your shoes. Cost me 20p in a car boot sale, second ones I bought at 12 for a fiver, also second hand. As an adult trying to get back into skating, the skates recommended have Chaya wheels. At the moment I just attempt to wobble around my apartment. Need to get new wrist guards though as i've lost 6 stone in the past 2 years, my old ones are now a bit big 😂

    Went to get fitted today. I bought a pair of Riedell Epics. They were quite a bit more than I thought I would have to spend. They're leather. Moxy's are very nice but do not come in white. I think they are an excellent value either leather or vinyl. I have to make one more trip for adjustments in the boots. 4 more weeks. The roller rinks don't have a selection or fitters. Most of them cater to in line and boarders.

    My favorite skates in order of most to least are:
    Moxi Jack
    Moxi Lolly
    Moonlight Roller
    BTFL
    Crazy Evoke (I have 2 pair)
    I love all of my skates though! As Katie said, buy extra bearings. Having wheels ready to go when you want a change makes life easier for sure! I'm also building a pair of skates with Nike Force 1 high tops. I doubt I'll be able to skate on them because they're going to be flat, and I've only skated in heeled boots. I agree to stay away from plastic plates altogether, but there are high quality nylon plates that will take a lot of beating & last for years. You can tell the difference between the good nylon plates and plastic ones when you look at them and feel them. Thanks again for your awesome tips, Katie! 💜💜💜💜

    Sorry if im a bit late. I went on your website to look at your recommendations and I noticed some of the skates had plastic plates. Is that because certain plastic plates are ok? I've been skating for a few months and I do have a pair of Moxi beach bunnies that i use primarily. But today in a charity shop, I found some leather skates with plastic trucks. I got them because they were £15 and I wanted the light up wheels to put on my bunnies but I would like to have them as a backup pair too. I only plan on skating fowards around my local park and indoor rink. No tricks, just skating. I'm also only 100 lbs. Will these skates I found be ok to use as backups? I used to play roller derby, and have missed skating ever since. Now I live in a place where playing roller derby isn't an option but I still want to skate. I have been binging your videos for a couple of weeks now. I have learned so much! thank you! I'm thinking of ordering some skates with your link. What do you think of Bont Parkstar for a beginner? Their sizing guide's wide fit seems to match my feet perfectly. So far, I have been skating at rinks, and I have dreams of getting a little dancy some day. I would love to get outside on skates, probably on bike trails and other paved trails. I have 3 concerns. Bont Parkstar comes with small wheels, which they say are better for outdoors, but from what I have heard, larger is better... can you tell me more? Am I right to think the standard 89A 58mm wheels would be good for the rink? Also, the skates come with 20 degree kingpins.... um, I have no idea what that means for skating, but I get the sense that it's different than the typical skate a beginner might buy. Does it matter? What effect does it have? The third issue is that it's reinforced with fiberglass -- does that negate the benefits of a suede boot?

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  Рік тому +1

      The park stars are a great skate. They’re setup for park skating so the smaller hard wheels are perfect for outside park skating but also perfect for indoor rinks too. The 20 degree kingpin is for stability. Most standard kingpin are around 10 degrees but the 20 will be no problem. The plate is a great plate. The fiberglass again just makes then lighter for park skating but if you’re new to skating it may be an advantage too as it won’t feel too heavy. They’re overall a great skate. 🛼⭐️💕

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  Рік тому +2

      Great questions. So it’s said that skates should fit like socks. It’s ok if the toes graze the end of the boot but not mushed up tight that just hurts. 😣 They need to fit correctly otherwise the wheels will not be underneath your foot and it will be harder to balance. Does that help? If not, please ask as many questions as you need.
