Lyrics
You may not like the things we do
Only idiots ignore the truth
It's easy to lay down and hide
Where's the warrior without his pride?
We're gonna move real good
We're gonna dress so fine
It's dog eat dog eat dog eat dog eat dog eat dog eat dog eat dog eat dog
Leapfrog the dog
And brush me, daddy-o
It's easy to lay down and hide
Where's the warrior without his pride?
You may not like the things we say
What's the difference, anyway?
We're gonna move real good
We're gonna dress so fine
It's dog eat dog eat dog eat dog eat dog eat dog eat dog eat dog eat dog
Leapfrog the dog
And brush me daddy-o
It makes me proud, so proud of you
I see innocence shining through
It makes me proud, so proud of you
I see innocence shining through
It makes me proud, so proud of you
I see innocence shining through
...
the drums on this song just sound so god damn good
It's because they had two drummers.
@@CheckersSpeech they had two drummers to sound the drums so damn good
If Michael Jackson rates them they probably are good
Also awesome vocalization and mixing.
This music is technically produced, but it sounds raw and not overproduced. It reminds you of the 60s wall of sound concept, but with s definite 80 s Brit punk vibe. It's so damn unique. You can't help but admire it. Proof punk rockers could actually play.
A genius! Nobody broke the musical standard in the industry and innovated as much as this man, it's almost unbelievable how he didn't get stuck in the underground scene and became one of the biggest pop culture idols in the late 70's and become a big star from the 80's in Europe and the United States . It would be asking too much for the general public to understand what Adam Ant's music is. I am happy to announce that I have discovered this musician, and I am happy that he still has a loyal following today. I'm 33 years old.
Marc Bolan nearly did, doing albums with sentences, such as "they had stars in their eyes..." and other similar long titled albums. I can't remember the last words of the sentence on this one though.
Back when Adam Ant hit, we all just accepted it. It was new and different; we liked and wanted that. Granted, this is on an entirely different planet-his own. So much the better.
There is a lot going on musically here. We were listening to what was going on even when dancing. His music demands *listening*, different than a Rush record yet almost the same. The arrangements are very tight and intertwined; everything plays off of each other. Definite art music here. Us fans didn't care if the general public got it or not; top 40 exists for a reason and that's cool. Not everyone needs to have 27 top 10 hits, mansions, etc. But we got it. We understood it. That's all that mattered.
@@jonnuanez7183 For me, what made Adam Ant popular, was he blended Native American music with prePunk or light Rock and Goth music. Nearly all his songs charted in the top 40, due to being very lively, when they were slow, or very lively, when they were very fast.
@fil1p357, Adam Ant is the stage name of Stuart Leslie Goddard, leader and vocalist of the band Adam and the Ants. Although he began playing punk music, he gradually changed his style towards the image of a pop star. and he still makes music fil1p3 at 69 years old
37 discovered him at 10 😅 music not the same since
The vocal harmonization on this song (and others) really takes it to another level.
I met these guys in Japan in '81 or 82. Thanks for having this available
Adam and the Ants had flash, but also the talent to back it up. So fantastic!
I bought his first album in a london record store after watching them on TOTP, such awesome music !!!
After all these years I'm still coming back for more
Killer album, bought it as a kid n loved it.
I dance to this song, in my head, all the time. I wish I could actually dance to it, full out the way Adam dances to it. It must be so freeing!
Still got this and Prince Charming on vinyl great albums
Great tune, a hell of a lot of music in these few minutes to listen to and enjoy
MARCO LEGEND.
my mum used to play this sort of music with me and my brother alot up until i was 5 or 6, but i still listen to it now
loved it back then still great
Full blast. ...what a tune
Recently went back and listened to all of Kings of the Wild Frontier, and the whole album has stood up amazingly well.
Incredibly, it sounds fresher than a lot of contemporary music.
I listen to it on a regular basis (am a 90s baby though haha)
It's true, just a masterpiece.
couldn't agree more, incredible LP, first I ever bought as a kid and still amazing.
I found a unopened vinyl record and got it
IN MY TOP 5 FAVOURITE ALBUMS OF ALL TIME. IVE LOVED THE ANTS SINCE THE "ZEROX" SINGLE IN 79. IM NOW 54YRS YOUNG AND HONESTLY CAN SAY THAT IVE HEARD NOTHING ELSE BEFORE, DURING OR SINCE THIS MASTERPIECE WAS RELEASED THAT SOUNDS ANYTHING LIKE IT. IT REALLY DOES STAND IN A CLASS OF IT'S OWN IMO.
Epic song best they ever had
Fucking fantastic..... Oh, the memories...
*F-BOMB!*
Now *THAT* is how you start a record album!!
I love the war cries at the end. :)
epic
There there is so much going on in the background but the Indians screaming and the whistling and if you had the vinyl you know exactly what I mean so much going on that you can't hear unless you're hearing it on vinyl or so perfectly remastered it's just a damn shame
The b side is pretty awsome!
Day 6218. 2 x 3109. Dried figs fresh figs yellow apple sprouts and iceberg lettuce with urine at 6.00am 12.30pm and 7.00pm. No change.
Sounds like The Everly Brothers!
23 people are locked in a record deal they signed without reading
Like that crusty genius Ian Brown :-D
I wish I could dress like that.
Michael Jackson once asked Adam ant how he got the drums to sounds like this 👍🏽
what did he say?
Two drummers
@@iamspartacus6713 there's a video of Adam telling the story on a talk show.
@@a.champagne6238 ok thank-you
Gary Glitter for Goths. Any other artists with a “lost boys” aesthetic? Besides baltimora with tarzan boy.
Doomsday brought me here.
my dad told me bout this
Spaghetti Western guitar mixed with Burundi drums, add half-pirate/half-Native American outfits and you get this dope little ditty.
Yeah man I can hear it too
Still my favorite song of theirs. Still listening to it. Spectacular music.
And mine it's a beauty
A masterpiecie!
Woke up this morning feeling shitty. Then this popped into my head and got stuck there, cheered me up no end. 43 years since I first heard it, that's a hell of a job.
Easily the Ants' best tune
Top 5.
andy eccles the outro is phenomenal. It’s very mantra as well. And the guitars are amazing.
I dunno.. Kings of the Wild Frontier?
Totally agree cant get enough 40 years on maybe more..
Dunno between this and Ant Invasion
I have one connection with my son aged 20, I am 50 , connection is Adam Ant. Please Adam, stay with us. 🌹

We're gonna cook em
AND WERE GONNA EAT THEM!!
Do you know the name of the song that follows this when they're torching the guy?
@@spikedkoolaid2007 spellbound by siouxsie and the banshees
Amazing how the stuff I considered trite and silly now sounds fucking INCREDIBLE.

So pleased to have grown up late 70s 80s to hear these masterpieces compared to today’s S H I T E
I agree, I was 13 still remember convincing my aunt to buy me the record... Oh dear my parents still must hate her for it... It marked my future, became a goth a few years later...
@@NapFloridian "it makes me proud, so proud of you"😊
It’s the first song on the album because it’s the best.
it's feeding time boys!!
Michael Jackson basically took the military jacket idea from AA, and I think Prince maybe borrowed an idea or two as well - name, scarfs, stage athleticism... Adam was a "first man' progenitor with a lot of offspring. Notice how the harmonic singing sound of Kings preceeds the Duran Duran sound as well?
Well we're all sponges to an extent...you may want to check into Prince Ludwig (movie is spectacular) Sensational Alex Harvey Band (tomahawk kid and so much more) Bolan and various Panto villains Captain Hook... But he did it great. Real commitment.
Um. Hendrix, The Beatles, Paul, Revere and The Raiders, The Who all did the military jacket BEFORE Adam. Adam was a BIG fan of Prince and the stuff that he'd dare wear on stage, so..... Prince is Prince's actual name and HE got his "stage athleticism " as you call it from James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Joe Tex, Sam & Dave and countless other soul men before him. As for the Duran Duran harmonies, you might want to check out a little group called Roxy Music (Love Is The Drug). You're welcome, whippersnappers. 😊
@@marcusa.fromthebay7514 Adam was big in the jacket way before Prince broke out of his scene.
I didn't say Adam INVENTED the military jacket idea, I said Jackson saw it's possibilities again - could have been just a tired idea from the 60s but AA made it hot again. Jackson called AA and asked him where he got his jacket, this is on the record.
Definitely one of them people that found this song from doomsday but i freakin love the drums, the smooth guitar, the lyrics. Good song all around!
wow, havent heard this for years n years.. excellent
My older brother's girlfriend used to babysit me and turned me onto Adam Ant's sound when we watched MTV together. Adam's look and moves mesmerized me..
Layne Staley brought me here.. legends eat legends eat legends eat legends....
Yes from the Nona documentary! I’ve been obsessed with Adam and this album for the past couple of days haha

The first concert I went to at 15, 1981!
Underrated; Ant derated. Just fabulous.
erschreckend, erfrischend, aufregend , nach all diesen JAHREN hat dieses lied nichts von seiner Kraft verloren , nur ich bin älter geworden ,,,, aber wenn ich dieses lied höre bin ich wieder 14

THE GENESIS OF THE NEW ROMANTIC SCENE
marco una epoca en los 80
in 1982 i crashed my moped and broke my kneecaps , so i had to lay on the sofa downstairs for about two months and i listened to this constantly , i wasnt allowed to put my other stuff on like the pistols, vibrators, slf , crass, so this brings back good and bad memories
a man/woman this class.
I hear you. My mom got ahold of my Depeche Mode tape and was convinced I'd commit suicide and banned me from listening to them.
Ironically, it was my brother who did and he went no where near New Wave
