Chair knot - extend loops further, one large enough to sit in and the other to go under your arms for stability, knot to be at chest height, secure with a half hitch around each loop for added protection. You can now be raised in a sitting position.
Hey! There is actually an add-on to the handcuff knot to turn it into a safe fireman's chair: basically at the end, add the last steps of a sheepshank :) That won't make the knot tie up with weight!
Yeah, this is the knot I want for removing railroad ties. Will be using a circular and recip saw. Need to pull up and out of place first. Yeah, this will work. Thanks.
Nice video as always. Din't kow this one yet, looks like the marguerite knot . But I always use spar hitch-fender knot for each wrist, it's fast easy and secure, gets tighter the more he strugles :-) and if it's not enough you can secure it like you've done and it's game over.
I've actually had to use this once as a makeshift climbing harness but as well tied it in a noose around my waistline for more security used it together with the prusik knot to get of a cliff about 50 feet high in a storm while I had a few weeks out in the wild a year ago, had came from the other direction following a ridge for a couple of kms the day before and thought the view was amazing from there so had put up camp not far away but didn't see the front coming from my back so got surprised by it in the early morning and felt I had to get down after wittnessing a tree beeing blown to smithereens just a 150 meters from my camp by lightning. the knot works really well in a hurry, yes it might cut ciculation abit but when you are going down a clifface in a hurry in the esrly morning in a storm you are not really thinking about something like that and the adrenaline rush you get will keep you going for miles either way. really handy knot and have alot of uses for it!
This is not a safe knot to use with a partner during bondage play as it will put pressure on the nerves of the wrist very easily. When this is tightened there is nothing stopping it from blocking both bloodflow and destroying the nerve endings in your arms.
DO NOT use this knot for a firemans chair!! "...have the potential to cut off your circulation"? No, it most definitely will! If you had to hang for just a little longer than planned in that kind of harness, it could be a matter of minutes before you're running into the risk of dying when re-opening the circulation.
That’s also correct, but the fact that this knot uses running loops rather than standing loops that one would find in a proper harness, or even in a properly made makeshift harness using something such as a bowline variant, means that the amount of time you have to safely use this knot as a fireman’s chair is a fraction of what it would be otherwise. This is magnified of course if the person using it is significantly heavy. Firemen are taught different techniques for fashioning emergency harnesses.
You cannot snug up the handcuff by tying a overhand knot using the two ropes like you did. You have to snug the handcuffs and tie a knot using the two ends.
No, he means that you must do what’s called “bending” the two ends together-that is, you must secure the ends to one another using a bend. Although in theory if one used an overhand as a stopper as shown, one could adjust the knot so that it is relatively cinched, if one wanted the loops to remain tight the proper technique would be to employ a reef bend, or something of the like.
look up Pirate cuffs...warning its way more brutal and when you cinch it down there's no going back. If they try to get out it just keeps getting tighter and they might cut off circulation and lose fingers or hands.
There's another way to tie it. I was trying to tie this knot when I did a step wrong, and it worked even better than the way shown in the video for smaller diameter cord.
That's not actually how you tie a fireman's chair. There is to more steps with the working ends then it would be. Only saying that because I am a fireman lol. But you would use one loop for the legs and the other for around a persons chest under their armpits almost
+Jake Keyes I'm obviously not a Fireman, so your feedback helps. I've seen it demonstrated as you've mentioned, but also the way I described it, but in full disclosure, no one that I saw demonstrating it was a Fireman either LOL! Thanks for the comment! ~ Bryan
I will try this this evening with my wife, thank you!
And how good did she tied you up?

look up a "bowline on a bight" for two fixed loops that will not tighten down to use as a temp. leg harness/ rescue carry knot.

What would you recommend then?
@@lenonel3286 I'd recommend looking up a "double column tie" Much safer for all parties involved and you might not ruin someone's body long term. :)

Correct. But i will also point out any harness (including OSHA aproved) will cut off circulation to the legs if suspended for too long.

very practical use it all the time.
Do you know this by heart or do you search them up
So basically a clove hitch that you pull the loops through on either side
Simple and useful.. thanks

I want to know what's the ideal rope thickness for the less painful way.
Can you do a video in the Swiss seat and other hasty harnesses.
