Rachel, i know from personal experience that the stretching may hurt as I have Cerebral Palsy, but I also know this for a fact. It may hurt a little during the stretching, but not doing it will be worse. My body hurts a lot worse when I don't have PT or stretch. My breathing and my gut are much worse as well. Keep going and keep going Beckham!

Hi Rachel, I absolutely love your videos. You have the most beautiful family. I'm a speech pathologist from Australia and work with young children who have language delays or are learning to talk. I use Hanen principles and 'language facilitation strategies' to teach my parents how to best communicate with their little ones to support their language development (feel free to look this up). Some of the main strategies that work really well for toddlers like your sweet kids are: speak slowly, simplifying speech i.e., use 2 word phrases when speaking. I remember seeing a video where you were teaching Beckman 'more' using gesture and single words. This is a great example of something you could be doing all the time at home. Even adding 'help', which is a very functional word. I would be doing something similar with Blakely, to slowly build her expressive language. Children need to understand and hear words multiple times before they can say them. As a rule of thumb, children can understand and process up to a couple of words more than what they can already say. So for Blakely, she would only really pick up on small sentences. I notice at times you speak in long sentences as if you are having an adult conversation. I hope that makes sense and I hope I'm not overstepping. I just wanted to give you the heads up in case you weren't aware. Lots of love xx
OHMYGOODNESS. What a brave little man and BRAVE MOMMY. I know how much pain stretching him causes him but causes you even more! You are both so brave to keep on keeping on!!❤❤ I love their little twinsy-look!
Aww , I can also see the pain on your face when you stretch Beckham ! You are such a great Mom. It may be time to learn how to say no to little miss . No matter how adorable she is .
Rachel, that just shows you what a fabulous mum you are. Even though it pulls at your heart strings, You still do what’s best for Beckham. I know the modern take is to reward positive behaviour and ignore negative behaviour, but it really is important that both your children learn the word “No”. It may save their life one day. It will harm Blakely more if she never learns about consequences for displeasing behaviour. You are doing then a disservice by playing into the narrative they are too young. It’s possible to tech a child from as young as six months to a year the difference between yes and no. Whilst biting can just be a phase, it can also be aggression due to frustration. It is imperative that she learn to communicate in a different way, and that begins with “no”. She needs to learn that during his therapy time, she needs to leave him to do what is needed, this can be achieved by getting her to work on her “therapy” using age appropriate toys and educational toys like books, puzzles etc. giving her a shape ball to do whilst you are getting Beckham to do his arm bearing exercises would keep her engaged but included. Or when he is in his walker, you doing a one on one activity with her like painting, colouring or reading to her, will encourage her to let him learn in his gait trainer. You also need to explain to her that is how he will learn to walk. She will understand a lot more than you give her credit for. Beckham also understands a lot, you see it in his behaviours. You are a fabulous mum and both kiddos are blessed to have you. Just trying to share my experience.
Hey Rachel. You might want to try putting a heating blanket or a warm compress on the muscles you’re going to stretch before you stretch them. It’s not a good idea to stretch cold muscles. They would also be more pliable and less painful for him.
Yes, muscle must be warmed up first before stretching. Usually it is warmed up by doing about 10 minutes of warming up exercise. Stretching is best conducted at the end of an exercise when the muscle is warm.
I’ve lived with chronic pain my entire life, thanks to a genetic disorder. It’s so hard to have to watch someone you love deal with something like this, my mom knows this to well. Having a disability really stinks sometimes. But, at the end of the day, it’s made me who I am, and pushed me to be the best version of myself. Love you guys. Thanks for making me smile!
Beckham is putting his hand to and in his mouth so much more! I know you were working towards that, so I can’t help but give him a little cheer every time he does it! Your so strong dude! ❤️✝️🙏

I love your channel. I work with children with disabilities and absolutely love it. I also love type of videos showing more of his routine. He’s absolutely adorable and it’s so cute how blakley gives huges
If my kids played with our teacup maltese with a toy like that, our kids would get bit. Makes me realize how aggressive our dog is. Of course she wouldn't mean it but her teeth would end up on the kids hand instead of the toy. What a gentle dog you have.

I know the stretching stinks but it is so worth it! When we did our daughter heel cord stretches it looked so painful however in the long run it was so so good for her she now walks!!!!
In relaxing stretching, one will not feel pain at all. Forced stretching certainly will cause pain. Stretching is best conducted after a session of warming up exercise.
I was non verbal as a toddler my mom and a few other people new what every noise and point mean so I understand so he might talk when he is older if not who care he will still be him no matter what

He is a little bit young as he will most likely need a motorised chair. Once he is at school, which starts in September I believe this will likely be addressed. I know they intend on getting him a chair, it is one of the reasons they are getting a bigger car for Rachel.
In fact I believe until they are about 4 or 5 the children are usually given a special type of wheelchair known as a biggie, which is essentially a super pram, it’s designed to facilitate strengthening a child’s posture, they are more substantial with full body harnesses and need to be pushed around by someone. They don’t like to accommodate too much independence too young as it can become a barrier for learning to walk. Currently Beckham would need a moulded seat on a wheelchair as he is not yet able to sit unassisted. He is almost there and a buggy should enable him to continue to develop whilst enabling him to keep on working towards the goals the set. Rachel and Hunter will do everything they need to as they work with his therapists. My sister in law had a son with CP, he did not walk till about 5. Louise had been asked to pop in to his special needs school. When she went she saw Micks first steps, it was a wonderful surprise and a first she was entitled to her hubby went the next day, so he also shared in the milestone. Mick is a dad himself now, he and his wife have bought their first home and are doing very well for themselves and their family of two little tykes. They said he would never learn to read or write, but they were wrong he was also nonverbal for the longest time but is articulate now with a full time job. Actually he works with his hands, and is more than merely competent.
@@marikiemarie7622 the biggie works the same as a pram. Affording him a self propelled either manual or motorised would render him less inclined to focus on the difficulty of walking. That is why they don’t usually give a wheelchair before five or six unless they outgrow the medical buggie or can sit up properly.
I worked with disabled children as well they make mini chairs for toddlers who can move their arms like he does well & they loved it. He can still have therapy and crawl around. It would actually help him see the family above the ground. I am familiar with the biggie as well it is great!!!
I understand totally that you and Beckham have your language because my son Noah and I do to he is nonverbal autism but I have worked so hard to learn his language God bless you and the family love y’all
They definitely do. She gets away with murder and is completely aware of everything she does. Like when she deliberately kicks Beckham and Rachel will move her and then she will continue to move to kick him. She’s going to be even more of a handful as she gets older.
@@lindamcdaniel2419 I also didn’t say anything negative. Everyone knows Rachel is a wonderful mom. Nothing that we said was meant to be negative or critical. It’s sad that people automatically take a loving comment in a critical way.
I can't help but when I watch your daughter run around or have something which she keeps doing on the floor when your son's on the floor. It really freaks me out. It's almost like you don't have boundaries for her. You let her do whatever she wants. She wants to climb the stairs constantly she does it if she wants to climb something it's funny and she does it. I don't think it's normal to allow your toddler to do anything they want. You need to really teach her no. She knows no she's smart enough to know now she's old enough to know what no means. If you teach her now it will be easier for you in the future. Also hitting the thing behind the door over and over and over isn't acceptable behavior. Do you want her to be five and six doing that or five and six throwing balls and hitting things in the house are you just going to bring her outside at that time and say just throw it outside or you just going to tell her no. Make her not do it. She's old enough to be set down in time out for a minute and a half. You get comments of your videos because we see it and usually laugh about it and allow her to do it. It's like allowing your child to run the house and do what they want. They need structure and discipline to be healthy and happy
