The song was Cesar's pick. It's such a sad song. They put so much feeling that just breaks your heart. EJ Cardona is Omar Cardona's older brother. Eli is pronounced Ellie like Jelly.
EJ Cardona actually is in Voctave. Both Omar and EJ have similar voices, very smooth and beautiful. I'm so glad we have Cesar because he can do so much with his voice. Bonnie Raitt originally did this back in 1991 on her 11th album, written by Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin, Nashville country songwriters. They considered 3 women to sing this, Bonnie Raitt, Bette Midler and Linda Ronstadt.
His name is pronounced to with jelly, short for Eliezer. His voice is absolutely brilliant, he can do smooth, he can do sweet, and he can do a rocking beast. E J Cardona is a tenor with another acapella group, Voctave. His work with Voiceplay on Go The Distance is absolutely beautiful. I look forward to watching your reaction to it. In the credits this time, Layne is listed as baritone, there was no beatboxing. Great reaction, man!
There are people called Eli pronounced as eel-eye but not this one. Eli in VoicePlay is short for Eliezer, and it's pronounced as ellie, to rhyme with jelly. It's Eliezer Jacobson . I've heard them enough times in Patreon chats to know for sure. :) And you have EJ Cardona right. Just as it's written. Geoff said he never cried so much editing a video as this one. :(
This song always comes close to bringing tears to my eyes - so sad, so soulful, so disheartened. They did an amazing job on it! You said you weren't familiar with the song - I would highly recommend you listen to Bonnie Raitt's version, who has a rather rough, bluesy voice. It's very different from this one, since she's singing solo, accompanying herself on guitar, but it's definitely worth a listen.
Did you notice Layne was singing? He has such a sweet voice. I should've known you would notice 😅 I think they were in separate rooms to convey a sense of loneliness.
Great reaction. I liked the part you pointed out with chiming in with those hums. Although I did listen to it several times I had not caught that. You talked about Geoff not using the expected notes - he does that sometimes in his own videos. People more knowledgeable than I will say that it doesn’t resolve. You expect one or two more notes or a note to go somewhere else and he switches it up. He did that a few times in his in’t no sunshine cover. (I wouldn’t have caught it but a couple of reactors pointed it out.). This was Cesar‘s choice of song and it was originally done by Bonnie Raitt and has a totally different tempo and feel. I know she has a lovely voice but I had not heard it since I don’t generally listen to country. Eli is short for Eleazer which is pronounced with the short E to rhyme with jelly (El-Lee). The way you used it (Ee-Lie) is generally short for Elijah. A lot of people get it wrong, but you seemed like you wanted to do it correctly so I thought I’d let you know.
They did film with all the guys together but Geoff said he decided not to use any of those takes when he edited the video. He's very cognizant of telling the story of a song, not just performing the lyrics, and it fits this story better for them to be alone. What makes it even more poignant is that this was Cesar's song suggestion. The other four guys are married but as of an interview with Mortius this spring, Cesar is not in a relationship. They're all good, and I love hearing Layne sing, but I just wanna reach through the screen and hug Cesar.
if you want to see a lot of their collaborators in one video watch just sing but make sure to have the subtitles on so you see who everyone is ❤️🏴
I still think this is one of VoicePlay's quiet masterpieces. Gorgeous. I love the dissonant chords in here.
Lovely song, and all of them gets their spot to shine...

Thx so much, Ilona! Glad you enjoyed it! And I agree, Eli's capability to sing super clean and smooth to a badass rock voice belt is awesome!
@@YBPlaysMusic thank you for another priceless reaction to Voice Play. Also, I really enjoy your music as well.
Thank you so much, really appreciate it! :D Glad you also enjoy my music! :D
E.J. is a tenor in Voctave, an incredible acapella group. He is featured in their 'O Come All Ye Faithful' and is amazing!
Also in "Go the Distance"

This was a great reaction. Now you need to react to dragonborn comes skyrim. You can react to EJ Cardona's brother, Omar Cardona.
