  • So as some rightfully pointed out, just because I solved one problem didn't mean there weren't others. A day later - flat again. Let's dig deeper, shall we!? This is a reupload, youtube gave the original some weird flickering.

    We’re not allowed to use those plugs now (Aussie land).
    Had a hole (FJR), in rear and had to have the wheel off, and a long tapered piece of rubber thing with a flat head (face on to the inside of the tire).
    I used to use the plugs you have for ages, but no more now - at least here in Aus.

      I am in Australia and the plugs that he is using are still available all over the place. I use them and have no problem getting replacements.

    I’d have just taken the wheel to the repair shop & had it done properly for what it cost. I couldn’t ride knowing I’d just done a quick patch job. Sorry but it’s just the way I am.🤷🏻‍♂️
    Great choice of tyre by the way.👍👍👍

    My experience is the same as yours, these things work fine. And as others have said if it did fail you would just get a slow flat, no big deal. Especially as you carry a kit and could plug it again to get rolling.

    Always had mechanic and tire shop friends tell me that plugs weren't that great and would fail from time to time. I dismissed it and considered them good enough, because they were cheap and worked, until I had one fail on me the same day after installing it. I won't even consider using one on a motorcycle tire unless I'm stranded and the tire going to be replaced when I get home.

    Not to start the whole patch/plug a mc tire debate, but why a plug designed to get you home in an emergency? I’ve always been a proponent of replacing mc tire, but when you get a pinhole like that, patch from the inside seems safe. Why stretch the hole with a plug?

    Got a good laugh when you forgot to air the tire. Fatigue and frustration will do that. A couple days back, after mounting a new tire, my buddy was beside himself looking for the spacer he was certain was missing from the right side of the rear wheel on his Honda Stateline.... Looked all over the garage with him. We couldn't find it. Then I suggested we mount the rear disc brake, and the bracket for that acts as.... you got it, the spacer we'd spent fifteen minutes searching for.....

    Nice job. Yeah, I once had a nail so small and perfectly inserted you couldn't see it. But I was only losing two psi a day.

    Does anyone use Green Slim inside the tires anymore, I always used to keep that in my tires, just incase I ran over a screw or nail or anything like a plant with nasty thorns on it, punctured my tire, it may not seal it up forever, but I was never left on the side of the road, hundreds of miles from home, I did wake up to a flat tire a couple of times that I could just pump up and get to the bike shop for a new tire or back then, inner tube. Also like how the wheels felt with that stuff in the tires, it would tend to balance out the tire to perfection. The guys changing my tires never cared much for the mess that stuff made, but I loved the fact that it saved me a few times from having to get towed home or to a shop, I'll tip the guy changing the tire extra, no problem just to have the pice of mind. It could also prevent a major blow out too at a high speed. It's not a cure all, but it was for me anyway, a big help. I have been away from biking for decades and just curious if anyone still uses that stuff.

    Yep, punctures can be difficult to locate but you got it eventually. Ref the repair.... I agree that the plug you used is absolutely fine and will not invalidate your insurance or anything else. Worse case scenario if it failed would be that air would leak out in the same way as a slow puncture. No chance of it shooting out and causing an accident in my view.

    • @hakchumaachuckma4681
      @hakchumaachuckma4681 4 роки тому

      invalidate insurance.... Listen up kids. Do your own research regarding insurance because that shit is a real lion unless you pay a premium that corresponds to your risk. Insurances is not in the business to pay for your shit. They in the business to make some moth'r fu;nk money. So you should be prepared for that.

    Pulled this to get some assistance looking for a leak on my bike, I remembered it because we're both on Road 5s. I think I picked up a puncture from some accident debris commuting to work. Seems like there is a new patch every day or two along my route. Hopefully, my leak will be in a similar location.

    Like others have already said, get that tyre properly patched from the inside, you've just used a TEMPORARY repair kit and those are not rated for high speed use.

      @TwoWheelObsession  5 років тому

      Like I already said, done it for many years on many tires (and so have many others).

      @@TwoWheelObsession Ask anyone who works in a tyre depot or better still, Michelin etc. This type of repair isn't 100% safe or meant to be permanent!

    Just curious, why do you run your tires at 40 and 38? If I remember correctly the stock pressure is 42 and 36? Just too rigid? I know when I did a track day on my fz they recommended something like 33 and 28

    • @TwoWheelObsession

    i personaly would get that tyre properly vulcanised after reaching the next tyre shop using this repair. You only live once and riding on two wheels is dangerous enough on its own.
    So far i had such quick repairs fail on me after a few thousand kms so i don't trust them on a bike.

    there was a tire that i had once, and it too had a pin hole in it. i really did not believe that soooooo much air would leak out of such a micro tiny hole. but it did, only took about 4 hours to go flat.
    found out that the tire was the issue. . . a bad mold.
    how? because i had gotten 2 sets for the rear of my truck [ mud tires ] to make sure that i had the same tread and size tire for when it needed to be replaced [ worn tread ] . all 4 tires had the same issue. the company told me that i must had done it to get new tires, but the tread had only 2000 miles run from it, [ was a 90,000 mile tire . . . still NEW . . . basically ] .
    then i told them, well if that be the case, then how come all 4 have the same hole in it , in the same area.
    after 2 weeks , 8 people came forward stating the samething. and no we knew not of each other, we lived in totally different area codes. . .but same dealer shop tho.
    all we got was [ just run it ] .
    sickening thought, so i didnt purchase that type tire anymore.
    kool that you found the leak.
    awesome video !!
