That was an excelent job done on the decoder instal. Matthew sent you some very nice loco's.
You made a complicated install very easy and strait forward. Nice job. Looking forward to Friday night.
Thanks. Not this Friday. Still suffering from the dreaded C plague. (Not a cold as we first thought)
Great job Dave, looks cool.👍👌🇺🇸🇨🇦😃
Im so happy the locomotives are working amazingly Dave 😊. Epic work on the DD40.
Thanks Matthew. I'll be on the hunt on Sunday for some nice passenger coaches for the Atlantic Coast Line. Might be hard to find though.
I love seeing this beautiful beast running like it should and glad to hear you're doing better!
Thanks Joe. Not really feeling much better, just muting all the coughing and sneazing, lol.
Nicely done, Dave.
Very nice! 👍👍 I've been adding decoders to the last of my old Lima made C420's. Thankfully they're not split frames. And Friday night streams would be sublime. Sundays are hard because I've got to go to work the next morning. 🤑
I agree, Fridays would make more sense. I'm still suffering from Covid, so maybe start next Friday.
Fantastic repair , great runner
very nice job Dave!
Nicely done !!!👍
Thank you Dave very well done
As we say here in the U.K. that’s one big bugger 😂,you know that innit ,BTW there’s a company that fo Glasgow subway cars if you want I’ll tell you they are on line Dave
All the best mate
Mark. 😊😊
The little spade connectors are bus bars used to connect Atlas switch boxes together. Nice vid. I'm going to install DCC in a older two motor GE 44 tonner this week end. Your concept will apply. Thank you1
You need that DD 40 of mine!!!!!!!
I had to go downstairs and take a look at my Bachmann DD40. It was dcc installed when I bought it. But I had to put a sound decoder in it. Still split frame, but gray. Oddly enough I had added extra weight to it. Must be something about that loco that requires a little extra weight. I also only added weight to the front also.
I'm wondering if you vocalized any Scottish expletives when you realized the recording was corrupted? I can't say I enjoy your pain, but I do enjoy the process no matter what happens. At any rate it was a nice clean install and ran as expected in the end. Great video, Jersey Bill
The problem was, I still have over a thousand vacation clips on my Iphone, so when I went to transfer the train video, it overwrote them with more holiday clips, lol. Yes, many expletives were envolved.
I'll have to watch this later, I have 8 spectrum units 8-40C older locomotives to convert. I'm actually looking forward to doing them. I'' put some ground light in too. I looking for a way to isolate the frame too...
How does the power go from the wheels to the frame? I have a one of these I am rebuilding, but it was in bad shape when I acquired it, so I'm not 100% sure if I have all the pieces or not.
There are wipers, which go from the front to rear axles on each truck. They have a sprung strip joining them, which looks like a semi circle, (two per truck) pointing at an angle upwards.
This sprung strip makes contact with the underside of the frame, and rotates with the truck as it goes round bends etc.
So, the left side of the split frame collects power from the two sprung strips on the left side of the front and rear trucks, and the right side of the frame collects it's power from the right side spring strips.
It's easy to see if you remove one of the small screws holding the trucks in place, and remove a truck.
Hope that helps.
We absolutely love the video David. Welcome back we've really missed you and your videos and your lives.
