Try putting your fish in a baggie with whole milk for at least 30 minutes and up to 4 days in the fridge. In fine dining restaurants we do that to tenderize, preserve and tame any fishy smells or taste. It can be used on all fish and seafood. Just take the fish out of the milk and prepare however you like.
@@nategardoski it’s not a need but a cooking technique. It tenderizes every fish making it more tender. I assure you it improves all fish and seafood. I didn’t invent this technique but I have cooked it for Scarlet Johansson, Jay Z and John Malkovich. There were zero complaints.
@@guillermodelnoche ya I know the "milk" technique. I would put money on saying that they would love pike without doing that. That's all I'm saying. I wasn't knocking the milk. I would definitely do it to all fish from salt water
I use the famous Dave’s devils spit pickles to make maple bourbon pickles. Use 4 jars of pickles, drain the juice into a pot, add 2 cups of maple syrup, (I make my own), and add 1 cup of your favorite bourbon. Bring the juice to a boil to get all the sugars from the syrup dissolved. Let it cool, and add it back into the jars with the pickles. Let them sit in the fridge for 2 weeks and enjoy.
Pike are awesome once you know how to clean them you can't go wrong. Nice to see you fishing with your Dad you are making memories that will last forever.
Not hating but your grease should be at least 350 degrees minimum when you put the fish in. Use a thermometer so you know when its right. I start a little higher (375) so that when the temp drops your still around 350 degrees.
Whew that's gotta be spicy!! That Cajun shore lunch is already spicy as hell!! Add anything famous Dave's and it's scorching I bet!! Looks great though!!
@@402Outdoors lol I bet. I miss pike fishing. I'm from Michigan originally but been here in Florida for 16 years. There are pike here but not like up north
Man I'd love to see you guys come up to old southern saskatchewan. Average day is usually 3 or 4 38 to 40 inchers. Got a dozen or so on a good day. My 5 year old reeled up a 22 pounder last year. My pb is 21.8 lol. Great video as always👍👍
no matter how you store it or clean it or what ever you put on your fish you must dry your fillets on paper towels this will let your crumbs or whatever your putting on your fillets stick better and when you cook it the crumbs will not clump up
I’ve actually never had pike of any type. Also I’ve never iced fished a day in my life but I hate ice n snow I’m from TN lol so that’s not what I’m accustomed to
A little bit of a snot rocket might be a delicacy but I find something else in the end of the video would be heaven and her name is Sasha! Absolutely beautiful, gorgeous lady!!
Just put your fish fry in a gallon ziplock and throw the fish in there to “bread” it. Also, you should buy a fry daddy. You can reuse the oil several times. When it starts getting too much crap at the bottom just use a small sized strainer to filter out the old burnt fish fry that sinks to the bottom of the fry daddy.
That food looks great, Sash looks outstanding 👌 ✌️
Sasha definitely has a following
