This reminds me of why I love Aot and it’s writing. Even the characters who are often mistakenly brushed off as insignificant side characters add so much to the philosophy of Aot. Isayama was able to do so much, even with characters who are only there for one Arc, like Kenny and Uri. Great essay, as always.
A pacifist and a serial killer became best friends, magnificent writing. Great video my dude, like always. I really like the intro you did and the music you've used! Keep it up and I'm excited for your Eren Video!
Thanks for the support, I'm very happy you enjoy the video. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to be the bearer of bad news: the Eren video is scrapped. This is mainly because Beluga is also doing one and I don't want to steal his thunder. I have offered to edit that video for him so I will be making it in a way, just for Beluga's channel with his voice and script instead of mine. Fortunately, I do have many other AOT videos planned such as an analysis of the importance of love in the story, a Zeke character study similar to my Levi one, a brief breakdown of Annie, a Bertholdt analysis, my top 10 moments in the series, and an updated character tier list. I hope you look forward to those despite the Eren video being cancelled.,
@@quickbinger1058 Of course, I think you and Beluga have almost the same opinion about Eren, so it makes sense to do a collab. And ye I'm hyped about the Zeke video, because he is one of my favourite characters!
"Everyone's had to be drunk on something to keep pushing forward.....Everyone....was a slave to somethin'" has to be the truest statement about the human condition i've heard. Great vid Bin!!!
(Spoilers) Almost everybody in the community isn’t gonna forget that line. Being drunk on something is one of the biggest anime quotes out there. But one thing I can say is that Uri has been learning to live life for the moment like Armin tried to explain to Zeke. Armin and Uri both want to just enjoy themselves, but seem to also wanna allow others to enjoy themselves. What comes to mind is kinda like “Hey, do we really have to just spend our time and energy trying to fight each other and make life worse, or can we just sit down and enjoy the sun set?” Freedom is always gonna be interpreted in a whole bunch of ways in Attack on Titan, but how each character portrays their own idea of it is something even more spicy
Thanks for commenting! Yeah, Uri represents ultimate freedom in Attack on Titan despite being drunk on something himself. Kenny's character arc also sort of has similarities to Eren's later on. Overall, I hope you enjoyed the video👍
Honestly, I’ve never really thought about these 2 beyond surface level. I already liked them, especially Kenny, before but I feel like I like them even more after watching this, loved the video, keep up the good work
@@quickbinger1058 It’s been years since I watched it, but I remember really liking it (I’m on the server so I know what it’s about, and I’m looking forward to it, whenever it comes out)
@dyingflame I'm so happy you're enjoying my videos. I'm currently on vacation but once I get back I'll start cooking up 3 new videos. One Attack on Titan video, one video about Hunter x Hunter, and one about Vinland Saga. I hope you stick around for all of those too👍
OMG thank you for checking out my video! Your content is wonderful too, and I'm determined to keep making videos until I improve. I got tons of AOT videos planned to coincide with the finale.
I love AoT's motif of ostensibly superficial contradictions masking deeper truths via the resolution of those apparent paradoxes to deeper dualities and more profound truths. Lol that sentence took me forever to write 😅. Let me explain with a few examples: - Kenny first is shown to be the meanest, baddest, most ruthless killer without conscience around. But in truth (in his way) he actually cared about Levi enough to raise him and teach him how to survive their "cruel world" as best he could. And in his deathbed soliloquy under the tree (the "everyone is drunk on something" speech) this former underground thug/ but still raging mass murderer expresses some of the most profound truths in the entire show. I would even argue that His epiphany borders on enlightenment. (Perhaps that's why he is under a tree?...) -Uri Reise has power and knowledge comparable to a God. But for all of his miraculous abilities, he is more in awe of the seemingly simple "miracle" of how him and Kenny became friends. I already spent more time than I care to admit writing this response out, but I don't think I am quite getting my point across. I think I will go back and flesh out more examples. Really quickly though here are some other examples: -Levi, the strongest badass in the world also hides the biggest heart. -Bertolt, the strongest titan (well second-strongest) is also one of the meekest/indecisive souls. -armin, the kindest and one of the most "good" people in the world (contrary to his declarations that he is not) ends up killing more in the port than anyone aside from Eren. -finally speaking of Eren, the one who desires and stives for freedom more than anything or anyone else, turns out to be the biggest slave. (Not only to the dream of freedom itself, but also to time itself. His apparent "Cassandra power" to see the future in a deterministic universe where he cannot change that future makes him the biggest slave of them all.)
Thank god good creators have that kind of passion about their work . One of my aot favourites. Kenny.... The man who truly understood aots meaning and main.theme alongside Uri . Some of the lucky people in the cast who truly found freedom and peace in their lives . Thanks for your hars work ❤.
Been waiting for someone to make a good video about this moment. It felt like isayama turned the lens towards the viewer in that moment most of all for me.
I think it's easy to just judge characters based on a few things that we see and then just labeling them a certain way. A mistake many might make. Erwin smith for example... a lotta times he had to do what commanders do and make warfare decisions. But at the end of his life, he kind of reflected on his life and we find out that there's a selfish element to his character. Does that mean he's selfish? No. Or Eren Jaeger... in season 4 we see him develop into a more mature character (even tho his sense of freedom might be interpreted as child-like) who understands how messed up the world of aot is and just has to move forward, because of the fate that he already saw. That also causes him to become somewhat depressed. He's going to commit the greatest evil imaginable. And then in season 4 part 3, we see him apologizing to ramzi, acting like a pathetic character. and in the final 4 chapters, we see him break down in front of armin talking about mikasa, again acting like a pathetic character. But Eren isn't pathetic imo, there are pathetic elements to his character. the ramzi scene was meant to show a more dark side to Eren's character. All the rage he has inside of him from being trapped inside the walls for most of his life and all the death and messed up things he saw while in there. He lashed out in front of armin because he's about to die, because he had been burdened with commiting genocide, because he's seeing his childhood friend for the last time, and because his purpose prevented him from being with mikasa. But Eren has a very dark side to his character. My point is, attack on titan is a complex story, masterfully written. isayama adds layers to a lot of characters, making them complex and multi-dimensional. it is a mistake to just judge characters and throw labels on them
i wish Uri would crush me with that big hand
...Intresting perspective
