Outback Steakhouse actually was created in Tampa, Florida, and their dishes are inspired by Louisiana recipes. They just have Australian themed furniture and other things but nothing in their menu is Australian.
Future Neighbor that’s funny! Yeah it is made in Florida though. I worked for the company for about 3 years. I honestly didn’t even know the place existed until I got hired, then I found out it’s a multi-million dollar company 😂
If it's inspired by Louisiana recipes (I assume you mean Cajun/Creole?) they sure didn't stick close to the inspirational food! Funny! I never would have guessed Louisiana inspired.
nominelbel yes exactly, that is why they heavily season their steaks. The original chef who came up with Outback’s menu was from Louisiana and specialized in that type of cooking. Though of course they had to make it their own, so it has influences but they still made it their own.
LOL OHMYGOD this is the first time I've heard of something like this. Always have seen themed stuff made about American but never thought about it done about Australia. Am Australian.
I live in Toowoomba and was like.....we're known for pasta? When?! We're known for our Carnival of Flowers and being the largest regional city in Australia but not pasta haha. Will have to try this!
You can actually blame me for that. I went stateside in 2017. We went to outback and I quickly found that we were apparently known for a seafood and rice dish, the manager was at our table when I said I was from Toowoomba and we had nothing to do with the ocean, he turned white as a ghost and within three days the menu was changed. Apparently a few months later it was a favourite dish among a group of Korean tourists who managed to figure out the recipe. I couldn't believe it when I found Toowoomba Pasta at the Hanaromart in Grand Central. Never thought I would ever be able to say I started an international food craze.
I just made this but veganized and Americanized it (lol) and it was delicious!!! I used blended medium tofu for the cream, subbed red onion for green, and used red wine instead of mirin. Thank you for the recipe ❤😭✌
In Aussie English it’s said ‘Tā-wūm-bá’, and written as you said the third pronunciation, or T’mby 😊 Interesting recipe & similar to one I got from very old cookbook for a creamy vol-áu-vent (pre-cooked pastry shell) filling turned ‘pasta sauce’. Fettuccini is fabulous for holding more sauce. Or use spirals, whack in vol-áu-vent cases and top with grated cheese before baking. Mmmmmmm
This looks amazing! I've been looking for a simple recipe to make my dad for his birthday coming up that I think he'll enjoy a lot and this is the one! Thank you so much! I can't wait to make this!
*Recipe - halved to make one smaller portion* 200 ml heavy cream (or whipping cream) 3 chopped stalks green onion 1 tbsp soy sauce --> leave for 1 hour 2 mushrooms 5 cloves garlic 1/2 onion 4 Broccoli florets 10 pieces of shrimp 3 strips bacon Add shrimp and bacon to mixing bowl 1 tbsp go gochutgaru 1 tbsp mirin or white wine Stir fry garlic until brown, add shrimp+bacon, onion and mushroom Stir fry until cooked more Add cream and 3/4 cup milk When it boils, add broccoli Reduce for 10-15 minutes in medium high heat Add a few shakes of salt and pasta Mix and serve with green onions
This is so delicious! For the plain milk, I substituted water in which I had boiled the shrimp shells and then strained. It makes two very hearty servings, or four for people like us.
Made this a couple days ago, it was great! My family preferred even more vegetables so I added some more, but it definitely serves more than 2 in my household if you're not incredibly hungry - we had enough for the two of us to have leftovers the next day!
Just made for the chain, I'm afraid....I can't be the only bewildered Australian who clicked on this video. Actually regional cuisine isn't something you see much in Australia generally. Re. pronunciation (as I've heard it), it's hard to describe, but the most emphasis is on the sticky 'mb' bit. So I think your last attempt was pretty on it really. No need to elongate the 'oo' sound too much, it's like the one in 'woof' kinda. A lot of Australian pronunciation is just fast. You may have noticed few even bother with the 'u' in the country's name.
huggledemon32 that is the best phonetics.... From someone who lives about 1.5 hour drive from. Ta whum bah. Beautiful place for those that are interested.
Kpopped Nails this does look exactly like the generic Cajun pastas found all over the southeast. I dig the gochugaru in lieu of Tony's... but with the garlic and onion, it's practically the same flavor anyway.
Omg when I saw the cream box that said Maeil I thought of Mamamoo's song Maeil Bio. Can't believe how good that marketing gimmick was :D Anyway this looks so good, and for once I can make it at home! Will give it a try :)
Looks good but one thing I would do is take out the shrimp earlier xD I've got a pet peeve for overcooked shrimp (or does it still stay tender in this dish?)
Add it into the cream sauce 5 min before its done reducing! Also with the shell on!! I made it twice, the first time following Daniel and it was overcooked. The second time with the shrimp added before everything is done.
That looks delicious to me and I don't even like pasta 😅 I never thought milk and sea food could go well together. Well times are changing indeed😂 I'm learning so much
There is enough liquid in the frying pan 2 cook the pasta and in that case it would automatically thicken the sauce because it would be cooked with the sauce. Have you got a store or merchandise yet? Really you could make a ton of money! :-)
Looks amazing! Do you think a cheese might go good with it? Maybe some parmesan? Or any other suggestion or keep it as it is? Is your name Dan Yul or Daniel?
Your recipe seems to be different than other copycat recipes I looked up. Most of them used ketchup. But honestly, the ingredients in yours sounds better than ketchup. That thumbnail looked absolutely divine!
I laughed so hard at the staying away from rice part. I am not Asian but I am Hispanic so I get it lolol XD❤. That pasta looks awesome! Will be trying it :)
I live about...2 hours from toowoomba? This is so surreal. Ive never heard of the dish haha. You're pretty close with the pronunciation- its Tah-WOOM-bah, emphasis on woom but still quite monotone.
It looks delicious and I think i have all the ingredients (minus the mirin and bacon, hopefully the halal version is as good) :) By the way, do you guys have a P.O box, I really want to send you some manchego cheese and to see if you can incorporate it in a Korean dish or something ;)

I first heard of this pasta on the first season of Let's Eat. Made it a few times since then, so yummy.
I just made this but veganized and Americanized it (lol) and it was delicious!!! I used blended medium tofu for the cream, subbed red onion for green, and used red wine instead of mirin. Thank you for the recipe ❤😭✌
I love how quick and easy your recipes are!
5:22 - Dan-yul conducting the street noise. 😍
Fettuccine is a pasta, Alfredo is probably what you meant 😊😊😊😊. Looks soooooooo soooooooo DELICIOUS 😊😊😊😊😊
I made this with chicken and Polska sausage to sub for the shrimp and bacon. It turned out great. Thank you for the easy to follow recipe! 💛💕

Toowoomba is pronounced too woom ba (I live there and this is so weird for me)✌️
That's so hilarious. So is there a pasta that looks anything like this from that town. Or is this some dish just made from Outback Steakhouse? haha 😂
Just made for the chain, I'm afraid....I can't be the only bewildered Australian who clicked on this video. Actually regional cuisine isn't something you see much in Australia generally.

I think the kick in the recipe comes from cajun seasoning.
Kpopped Nails this does look exactly like the generic Cajun pastas found all over the southeast. I dig the gochugaru in lieu of Tony's... but with the garlic and onion, it's practically the same flavor anyway.

Just omit the mushrooms
There is enough liquid in the frying pan 2 cook the pasta and in that case it would automatically thicken the sauce because it would be cooked with the sauce. Have you got a store or merchandise yet? Really you could make a ton of money! :-)

Over cooked shrimp! Yuck...rubber shrimp!
