Surprisingly good song. Can't stop singing along... Get on home ho ho home get on home Get on home ho ho home get on home Come on home little children, come on home
@2:54, the young woman on the far left is Angela Lansbury's daughter (I forget her name). She was about 16 yrs. and had a "permission slip" of sorts from her mom in case of police raids. She was never a true member of "The Family", just a hanger on of sorts, I gather.
Yes, thank you. Maybe I am wrong, but I would never have allowed my kid to run w/them. I guess she had a bit of a wild streak and would have done so no matter what.
It happens..... Just be glad you weren't in L.A. during the late summer of 69 ..... You might have accidently stumbled upon a few of the family members. .....hey come with us, there's a really cool guy we want you to meet.... Lol

Manson never could've tolerated the pressure and stress of being a professional musician and entertainer. Indeed, the man had no serious interest in leading any sort of life of integrity and substance.
Terry Melcher (Doris Day's son) thought about producing Charlie's songs, then changed his mind. Manson had been to the house on Cielo Drive that Melcher was renting. Melcher was living there with his girlfriend Candice Bergen, and Mark Lindsay lead singer of Paul Revere and The Raiders. They soon moved out and Sharon Tate and her husband Roman Polanski moved in.
All other considerations aside, I have always thought this a good song. The general arrangement and vocals are first class and done well. Manson was a self-taught musican who aspired to be a recording artist and Brian Wilson him talented. Unfortunately, he did not have the discipline and rigour to take advice from other more experienced musicans in the studio so Wilson gave up on him. Manson was actually a very affable guy and most liked him. His "country manners" were excellent.
I noticed that too, his manners. But like others of that ilk, he had many sides, he acted on the most murderous impulses. So, I'm left to surmise that that politeness was "acting." His musical talent was minimal at best. Considering the level of competition at the time for the level of success he craved, that fool had no chance.

Dennis Wilson: " I live with 17 girls." "They're space ladies. And they'd make a great group. I'm thinking of launching them as the "Family Gems." ... "We met two girls hitch-hiking. One of them was pregnant. We gave them a lift, and a purse was left in the car. About a month later, near Malibu, I saw the pregnant girl again, only this time she'd had her baby. I was overjoyed for her and it was through her that I met all the other girls. I told them about our involvement with the Maharishi and they told me they too had a guru, a guy named Charlie who'd recently come out of jail after 12 years." (Record Mirror - Dec. 21, 1968)
Beautiful song and video. Lots of great video footage and some footage of Lynette that I haven't seen before, she was wicked beautiful when she was young.

I just happened to see your comment, you didn't hit "reply" but I guess it's addressed to me. This was recorded in 1970, Leslie, Atkins, Charlie etc. were in prison. Grogan sang the male lead. I'm pretty sure I recognize the voices of Catherine Share, Sandra Good, Nancy Pittman and Kitty Lutesinger. Other possible girls were Catherine Gillies, Lynette Fromme, and Sue Bartell. I'm guessing the little girl voice is one of the kids that was at the ranch, they cared for several.
CM was very close to getting a record deal. Melcher & Jakobson liked his talent & the hippie/commune angle. Negotiations bogged down because Charlie insisted on the armageddon angle. Shortly after, CM shot Bernard Crowe with a friend of Melcher's in the room. Melcher dropped him like a hot potato after that.
That true he wrote a song fr the beach boys to but they changed the lyrics and Charlie blew a fuse he dident fee it was his song it had changed so much maybe if cm made it things wud be different and don't forget acid that changes a person verry quick rip cm
There is a pretty big debate about that on another website right now. The general consensus is that is Dierdre Lansbury (DiDi) Angela Lansbury's daughter.
It is so wild to see all the stir this one man caused....this society is too much, people who fear their own shadows, and their own evils. Charlie is right, if you fear him you must fear yourself, as we are all ONE! I am not saying killing is right, but really look at all the killing we allow our governments to do. One question, where would we be if this all had not taken place?

@biggdd2 Please explain what you mean? He participated in two of the the murders, one being the ranch hand and the other Hinman who Charlie admitted cutting his ear off as he was being murdered. He was also the first person the enter LaBianca home and helped to tie them up before leaving. He is a full participent in legally in all these murders and this is enough to get him life without parole.

When I was a little boy

The fields they are golden now the cycle will complete
In order to harvest the grain
You got to cut the weed
Get on home, get on home
Come on home little children, come on home
When I was a little girl I used to want your cow
Begin to go across the way
Cause the fires are burning now
Get on home, get on home
Come on home little children, come on home
When you see the children x’s on their head
If you dare look at them soon you will be dead
Get on home, get on home
Come on home little children, come on home
Babies gonna disappear from the momma’s arms
There’s gonna be a lot of fear
But we’ll be on the run
Get on home, get on home
Come on home little children, come on home
Daddy used to beat me
He’d treat me like himself
He taught me the ways of a man
And now I’m by myself
Get on home, get on home
Come on home little children, come on home
Love is all forever and its been your slave
Now it’s gonna open your eyes
And rise you from your hate
