Fun fact, with no other targets around, you can force a basic attack into a direction you are facing, and it can hit invisible targets... so that Inteleon was a tad too confident.
Unfortunately, the way Glaceon's boosted(via Icy Wind) attack works, even if it does hit Inteleon, the spears wouldn't immediately follow.

If wild pokemon are around, though, they will be targeted. It's why running into Tall Grass for a microsecond works so well for the one being chased because it messes up with the enemy's targeting system in this way.

@@CoconutmilkKitty This is not something that has been proven for sure, so the gender of Espeon or other Pokemon is not clear, but Espeon is generally known as a girl because it gives off a girl vibe.

As a Decidueye player, I felt that miss. If I had a nickel for every time I had a kill shot in my sights with Spirit Shackle, only to miss by just a hair.
