October is always my favourite month and I thought it'd be a perfect time to talk about the concept of "small but certain happiness" - with some moments from throughout the past month. :)
“When you get free from certain fixed concepts of the way the world is, you find it is far more subtle, and far more miraculous, than you thought it was.” - Alan Watts

We forget that the majority of our lives is spent repeating the same behaviours. Whether it's the warming of the kettle, the drive to work, the morning and evening routines. We get locked in and we forget the moment, forgetting that all we have is now. We get distracted, and the moment(s) slip out of our hands. Short films like this is what we need to remind us that life never waits, that every moment can be special, that life IS special. Alan Watts would be proud. Thanks for sharing, Riza. All the best.

Beautiful video ❤ Wow ! So well edited !
And the message is great, happiness is often found in little things in life. However often people can't see them. And to me it goes back to this core belief that we're worthy of love and belonging if we work super hard, achieve, etc. This hustle culture only adds to the mix. I think if we truly want to understand ourselves we have to learn where we learned all of this (usually it's our childhood). Where did we learn this "I am not enough" or that love is conditional.
We really don't need a lot to be happy. But what we need is to really believe it and unlearn the toxic programming we've been running.
We're worthy of love and belonging from the moment we're born. We're enough as we are. We don't need to chase happiness. We just have to realise that it's here, available right now.

This mindset ruined a big part of my high school. I didn't do anything or go out ever because I had to "finish my homework first" but I didn't do my homework because I was in a poor mood all the time and procrastinating like crazy because I wasn't doing anything fun with my life. I finally changed this Junior year and started doing everything I could to live life first, and do the work when it made sense to. My grades went up and my happiness did too. The homework was so much easier to do in a good mood. The mentality that you have to 'earn' every drop of your happiness is a terrible curse, but it can be overcome.

Sometimes small think can make happiness. I remembered when i slow down my ego and enjoy about small thing like hearing song or reading funny novel called Nageki no Burei, he always get danger situation which can make he die, but he alive and and he say that "bad" situations are good story in the future.
"Looking back, many things have happened since became a Hunter. When I first became a Hunter, I felt like I wasn't going to live through the hellish series of irregularities, and after I became a Clan Master, I had a lot of bad experiences, but now I can think of them as good memories." "There's a western mentality of when i get there, i'll be happy. When i finish all that work, i can relax. But the philosophy of small but certain happiness is about having that small break from our stress, so we can have a bit more balance to our days."
I feel like that mentality is a misconception. When you get where? Done with highschool so you can relax and then be forced to go to a minimum wage job to live check by check to afford tuition for college? And then after you have enough for college, you're back to continuous expectations and ethical standards. Constantly being judged on your work and how well you studied and planned for it. And then after College, you get to relax again ? No. You have to sign up for a higher paying job and continue to follow suite with society's standards of the "American Dream" as they say. After you've accumulated enough vacation days from your high paying job, you have about a week. Maybe less. What are you gonna do with yourself with all the money you've accumulated from all the stress society threw at you? Go to different restaurants when you're hungry, probably a spa for a massage, and then go to the movie theaters near your area cause you can't travel too far with your money you only have about a week. Don't wanna add anymore stress of not being able to make it back.
But you have a point. When you have no control over how society is ran and never win the lottery to become a millionaire, you need to have a certain balance in your life. The stress from education and working, and the breaks they give you in between to relax. The small breaks are impactful because you've been overworking yourself constantly. But can you really call it an even balance ?
