Thank for this video! my gem s2 dead some years ago.Can someone do samples of the sound called "Fantasy4"? I remember was very nice and i would like to recreate it on soft synth .Thank you,Ciao
Great!! I've the S3 turbo and rack S2, superb synths even now. Flexible, nice controller, POLY aftertouch and clean studio polished sounds. Shame it never sold that well just because of its company name 😢
Yes it can assuming your poly AT is working (loose internal cable in mine that I fixed), you don't filter it out in midi config and you enable it. Also if your kit can only handle channel (like my ESi) then switch it to channel mode :-) Use midi-ox or the like to debug
Was and is a great synth but nobody knows backtimes GEM. 1991 Korg has released the 01W and yamaha the sy99, and later the same with equinox. Yamaha released the EX7 but better the EX5 and Korg Trinity and Triton, but Equinox is not as bad. I have them all, so I know the sounds and GEM is far up, but love them all. Great machines
Nice demo and that last piece is really awesome!! There is some input noise though but that's common with GEM's. Did you use an audio interface or did you plug it directly into the soundcard?
Incredibly, when these do come up for sale, they usually don't bring outrageous prices even though they are rare. To put things in perspective the S2 has a 76k -Polyaftertouch keyboard. Quick name another synth with 76 keys and poly aftertouch? CS80? Nope 61. Chroma? Nope 72. DX1? Nope 73. Roland A80 and Kurzweil midiboard - both 88 keys -but just controllers no synth. Ensoniq ___ - all their poly-aftertouch synths were 61key. Sequential Prophet T8 - Ding Ding Ding, yes 76 keys with poly aftertouch. Great, except the T8 is even more rare than the GM S-Series, and when you find one, be prepared to pay more than 10 times as much. Even then, the T8 has fewer voices, doesn't have dual midi busses.
This is a fantastic display of the capability of this beautiful/rare synth 👌
Very Rare. Thats true. A treasure Like the junos. I am happy with mine, also having the equinox61. Sad that gem had no chance at the synth market.

uno strumento assolutamente sottostimato, bei suoni ancora attuali
