I can borrow this VR box from my bro but don't know what to watch to achieve same paim free effect Have they designed some specific videos for that?? How long should one need to use this ?
I have chronic pain and I used to take fentanyl and Vicodin daily for it. I was able to quit a year ago by smoking medical marijuana. I still have bad pains every day but I’m able to ignore it more now. I use my PlayStation Vr every other day and it helps distract me from my pain. It hurts more when I move but the vr is so distracting that I’m able to ignore it almost completely. This is probably the best cure I’ve ever found and I’m extremely happy that other people are being shown this wonderful product. Thank you Freethink, thank you for showing this to more people.

i have chronic pain issues also. i asked about medical marijuana and now i am treated like a drug addict. one doctor told me all i need is VR and I can live pain free. awesome i said, where are all the VR jobs so I can be a useful member of society... he got annoyed with me. i was being serious. being pain free is one thing, being a useful member of society is another
I tried VR some years ago with a videogame and sadly it was not that advanced back then. Hope to see major improvements in the future. I really like VR.
-zecks- you're lucky I didn't hit you with an xD or a 🕶️deal with it. I let you off easy. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go break my arm so I can play beatsaber
This actually does work. It's not actually taking the pain away but it's distracting you enough so you're not focusing on it. Great idea. I have sickle cell disease ss and would love an alternative to opiates
VR is one of the most amazing pieces of technology and one of the most funs devices that does not have much to it. Its fun, its realistic, and it gives you a different sense of adrenaline that regular videos and games cant. What is interesting to me is how many people get nauseous or dizzy from using these headsets. Maybe some type of stabilizer can be built-in to remind the brain its still grounded, kind of like when you hold on to something if you have the spins. I think VR will be beneficial to many many industries in the future. Great work, great research, great use of technology.
i suffer with verry bad chronic pain i would love to try vr for it but im worried i would never want to come out its like if some one built a cyberntic body and thay need some one i would be the 1st to put my hand up even if thay told me it might not work and i my die in the process i still would do it my life is a living hell in pain 24/7 and worce now the aussie govmment reaction to the opioid crisis here was to kick every one of them so i bearly get any meds at lest something like this might stop me from thinking about dieing all the time and wanting to end it to be free of this broken body
When I first started playing Beat Saber I would play it for hours and the next day I would be sore as fuck but when I booted the game up again I would notice that I didn't feel sore anymore. I only felt slightly uncomfortable.
No as long as its maintaines. Video Games aren't the cause of addiction but the pain that they go through they're day to day lives can be the cause of addiction.
And this is great and all but it’s just going to be available for people with money to afford it. The haptic devices would be a game changer. If they put some type of electric stimulant that would stimulant a part of the Brian to help fall asleep or just add to the distraction that would be cool.
Video games are great. They created the market for cpus until it became marketable viable for video editing. There have been many studies from economic to psychology
people using games and youtube to temporarily null pain isn't new, is it just me or is the guy talking like he made some sort of epic science discovery
Yet again, 5 years later. We haven't moved much. The biggest issue is big pharma wants sales not health. And The governments should be the ones in charge of this, not private companies. Too bad the world is still on making money for one group of individuals instead of progress.
Wow, what a smart way to make money. You don't hear pain and you don't see pain so you can only guess where is the new pain is going to come from when the hospital staff inject something for you to stay longer in the hospital and collect money. Always know engineers with science learn to help and always have a way to make more money some way some how.
But the real reality the people have problem still did not get cures. So I don’t think this is the best way to help someone to fix their problem, this event or project just like lie to someone you are find but, your are really not.
They’re not saying that this is a cure for disease. Their assertion is that this acts as temporary pain relief in place of addictive drugs. Pain is a symptom of disease and injury not the disease itself. So, if this helps someone forget their pain while doctors treat the cause w/o dangerous drugs it’s a win.
Have you used VR before? What was your experience like?
Nauseous
Suicidal
Unfortunately I’m a poor boy. 🗿

You might find interesting the work of Dr. Howard Schubiner dealing with chronic pain treatment.

@@brapamaldi So, did you try the VR? You don't need to wear it all the time, you could still hold down a job while using this treatment.
These are the kinds of things we should be investing in. Things that help the human race.

This is incredible. Hope it becomes more mainstream. It's such a easy and scalable treatment
But u should not play Beat Saber With a Broken Arm
Beat saber is great even for exercise. But yeah. Broken libs and active games di not mix

Reminds me of the last arc of sword art online 2
This is really cool
It’s called distraction. I try to watch good movies when I’m in a lot of pain and turn the volume up and really get into it.
this is amazing ... i love it
I read that the brains responses to VR are similar to the dream state
Two videos in one day now? I like it! Good video
Fantastic technology, but as in the case of opioid dependency, will there be a VR addiction after repeated use...?

whats the name of this vr type and from which compny ?
It will have side effects, like everything new to the human does. But this is good.
I feel like this is a reach, but I’ll dive in
If the point is to train the brain then hypnosis may work with less cost.
And what about WITHOUT the pain pill

that just sounds like my experience every time I start working out again 😂 so I will try beat saber
Bet this will end up like Sword Art Online
I want to try to relax in any country I want to visit ~~ 😆
question: isn’t VR just replacing the painkillers and thus becoming the addition itself?
