  • We are discussing embodied prayers in Yoruba and Congo religious systems, live at 6:30PM (EST) on June 10th.
Join Chief Baba Neil Clarke, Iya Amma McKen, Iya Danys Mora, Artist-Scholar Yesenia Selier, and Moderator Iya Marinieves Alba in examining dance, drumming, and song - sacred arts in Yoruba and other African and Indigenous traditions around the world. They’ll draw from their own experiences to discuss how these art forms allow the body to be a sacred vessel used to communicate with the divine realms.

Thank you Chief Baba Neil Clarke for explaining why this religious tradition was not practiced in the USA. I remember as a child dancing in African tradition ways. I’m not sure if it came to me in dreams but my soul was yearning Africa and its traditions. As a little girl I found this very hard to find the education/traditions and I grew up in Black Christian traditions.

I need to study under each one of you. I need to go to live in the different areas. I need to dance. I am seeking the language of the drum.
