    You can make four rows of five on both sides of the classroom and face them inward so they like face each other and then have an open space you would have 20 desks on each side of the room.

    With the desks, could you do 4 rows of 4 desks and then split it down the middle, and push them against the walls?

    I so sorry you are starting out stressed. Since you’ve been to many schools, you know that being the new kid on the block is often tough. Stay strong, you can persevere. I’m so glad I found your channel. I just retired in June after 30 years and I’ve experienced the same frustration many times. Though I’m not doing it anymore, I enjoy watching young teachers setting up. I went back to watch your haul vids and you were so happy, I hope you can get back that happiness as you progress. Many have suggested splitting your rows down to the middle and that’s a great idea. I tried doing long rows once and found out right away I could not rotate around the room easily. Take care and good luck!

    Put that extra stuff in the hall. They'll have to move it. I've had to do that before.

      @user-jj7ly9xy1z 3 роки тому

      Exactly.. they are more likely to move it if it is in the hallway.

      I like her strategy of 'out of the way.' May need it later.

      I would but we aren't allowed to since students parents and guests are all on campus! We did this at my previous school but since this one is a much more student-active campus, students and guests are everywhere on school grounds so it's not permitted to put anything in the halls

    Maybe make vertical lines of desks instead of horizontal?

    • @fromericaa
      @fromericaa 3 роки тому

      That’s what I was going to suggest too. :) Or separate the horizontal lines of desks in half. Essentially push them to the walls, so the walkways are in the middle and gives the kids more space.

      Yes, change the direction of the rows! And put two rows facing each other for one long group.

    I know you’re also excited about using the Speedlight microphone system that’s right beside the whiteboard!! Ever since I was little when I started having my own classroom at my house, and I still do today, I’ve always wanted a microphone system to teach with cause both of my hearing impaired teachers did use it to teach with and I became obsessed with it ever since, but after years of wanting one, for my 20th birthday, 2 months ago, I finally got one of my own that’s smaller, cheaper and portable! I bought the Zoweetek wired and wireless microphone system from Amazon and I LOVE it! Sidenote: I’ve never seen the Speedlight microphone in person.

    Could you put the desk on opposite sides facing each other lined up on your window and door wall. That would give you shorter rows and you could walk down the center aisle. That’s how most my high school classes were.

    Ohhh my gosh, AMANDA! I LOVE the wood Besta bookshelf underneath the whiteboard!! Our 3rd cat, Libby, she has a shelf that’s little bit like that but it’s also from IKEA, but it does have this brown neutral wood color in her own room. I remember seeing the Califone CD player from when I was little as well!! 😱😍 I’m definitely in the same mindset that you have about the TV in the corner where it will get up once the old tv gets taken down. Did..okay, I’m pretty sure the lectern/music stand you had belong to your old school, but you could get a big tall old brown wood music stand/lectern to match your new boho theme!

    Something I do is make a Google Slides or Drawing and just kind of create my classroom on it. That way I can rearrange desks virtually without having to struggle with moving them over and over. I agree that maybe vertical rows might help though!!

    Hi Amanda! Maybe put the desks in a big C like 5 or 6 in a vertical row and 8 across and then make a smaller C in front of the big C?

    What about 6 groups of 6? With 3 desks facing three desks, and each group in alternate positions (like one towards the back wall, one group more towards the mid-front of room and repeat?) Can’t believe a class that small is expected to house 35+ students plus teacher and materials comfortably!

    What about pushing the desks all the way to the walls in groups of 4 to give you the walkway? So split your current seating in half?

  • @MissMac88
    @MissMac88 3 роки тому

    You could possible get a small middle isle if you did rows of four desk. Though your room is super tiny, definitely not built to hold that many students. If people actually realized the average class sizes were never 15 students, I still dought they would care.

  • @BriannaFlagg

    What about flexible seating? Get some of the desks out and keep some in groups and create other seating options? Just a thought! Might not work for your age group ha

    Maybe walk around and look at other teachers classrooms to see what theirs looks like. Would you not be able to do groups of 6 or something and some of them could be up against the wall? I’m trying to picture the room and desks.

  • @vishalpersaud9462
    @vishalpersaud9462 3 роки тому

    do your original plan but instead of doing the rows horizontal angle them towards the back of the room so you still get your walkway in the middle

  • @daman0015

    For the desks, you can group them in fours. That way you’ll have more room and can walk around the classroom. I don’t think it’s a good idea to have them lined up in that way, especially classroom management wise and a potential fire hazard.

    Hi, maybe you can put desks on rows by groups of 3,2,3 and spaces between? I am really impresed by the number of students in your class. The maximum number of students in classes in Poland is about 24.

    Would you be able to set the desks up in coupled rows that go perpendicular to the front of the room? Basically have two rows of desks face each other (obviously have the plexiglass in between them) and set up groups that way?
    I don't know if it would work, but it's a thought.

  • @jenny100582
    @jenny100582 3 роки тому

    I really really really don't get those plexiglass shields. Are kids supposed to stick their head inside it? If they sit on the chair like a normal person, they are still practically nose to nose. And never mind about those airborne particles... sorry for ranting!
    Your room definitely is a tight fit, but the lines and very minimal setup are very pleasing to my eyes :)

    Can you not put the other teachers things in the hallway with a sign of her name and which building she is in? Gets the point across that you need them gone and gets them out of your way.
