Taiwan only has a couple hundred cases and is 100 miles from China. They started shutting down flights in January. We could learn from how they did it.
They stated they were deplaning people who were flying in from Wuhan and they sending them to quarentine very early on. They said most infections came from countries other than China. Only 2 deaths so far for them.

People on disability will continue to get their benefits--while they stay at home. They are NOT any worse off financially. Not like people who normally work, but can't because of the virus restrictions.They will continue to get SSI & SSP. They will continue to get their SSD. They will continue to get all the benefits that they get every day. They can continue to stay home, and their income will not change. They will continue to get whatever benefits they get--food stamps, free medical. HUD, if they normally get it. So how is staying home affecting them adversely? They can't go shopping at the mall?
Sandra, don't worry. Your benefits won't change. In fact, anything that you normally get will be automatically renewed! Some people are just mad, because the additional financial benefit is going to help workers, who have lost their jobs because of the virus and have no income. We have people calling the welfare office, who barely made ends meet, before they were told to stay home from work--and they have no sick pay or vacation pay. The welfare office can't help fast enough. But this extra $ will. It isn't enough to make up for all the missed work, but it will help to tide them over, until they can qualify for DHS benefits.
James, the point is that you did not lose your income as a result of the covid pandemic. You get the same amount of money. The package is NOT meant to give people a raise. It is meant to help people, whose income has been reduced or completely stopped because of the pandemic. It is hard to live on SSD. That is why I still work, despite being urged by docs to go on disability. So instead of the job I used to have, I work at a desk. I have had the back surgeries. I take extremely strong pain medication for constant pain. Some days I can barely get out of bed. I can't put on my own socks or slacks. But I make it to work. And I know that most people who get disability income--even the kind you get---get food stamps and medical. Even if it is medicare b that you pay $144.60 a month for. And even people who get the kind of disability that you get--the kind you paid for as a tax payer--often get to living in low income housing. And there are CAP programs to cap your utility payments. And on it goes. I know this, because it is part of my job to know this. Yes, you deserve it. But NO, you don't get money set aside to help the people who have lost income due to the covid emergency.

How come construction workers are exempt from most of this. There is no way on any construction sites that you can do what the cdc asks with social distancing. In order for this multi tiered plan to work, domestic travel has to be closed for 2 weeks at the end of the data gathering and therapeutics clinical trials process. This will further mitigate county to county exposure in the less infected areas. With the phase 3 stim package completed, this should now be monetarily possible.

I'm an essential worker so I'm still working... and I'm 64 so I'm in the danger zone to catch this... Luckily I have no underlying health problems and I haven't had a cold or the flu in the last 10 years or so, but I'm still just a little nervous having to work in the public. I'd rather sit home until they figure something out...
I know it sucks, in 2000 I got caught in the Dot Com crash, I was a VP of Operations and was making 750 a week take home pay and our company went out of business, (we were almost ready to do an IPO when the crash hit) when I went to collect unemployment... I got a whopping 405 a week. Besides all my stocks being worthless and losing all the money I had invested in helping start the company... The third kick in the teeth was, child support didn't care that I was unemployed so they were still taking 33% of my pretax pay as if I was still working as a VP. I had to sell and get rid of everything... Because I knew it was going to be a long time before things turned around, and I couldn't afford the current lifestyle I had. So ever since then, I have always made it so if I ever had to collect unemployment, I would still be able to survive on the current rate I would get from unemployment. So that meant budgeting, saving for things, not taking loans, paying cash for things instead of using credit, and driving used cars and learning how to fix things myself instead of paying someone else to do it.

new study disputing hydroxychloroquine is deeply flawed. First, only 1 severe patient.The other 29 were not severe and could have been getting better regardless. Also, the 15 who took it got better in 1-4 days. Others got better in 1-9 days. 'Ineffective' on ppl who naturally recovered in 1-3 days proves nothing. Why would you pick 29 of 30 patients who were not severe, but also already 70-95% recovered?
Should be testing on ppl who are at least 7-10 days away from recovery, and especially severe cases.

It should be people who are at least 1-1.5 weeks away from natural recovery and be tested on at least 10-15% severe cases -- or better yet, specifically on severe cases.
This man is clearly very well educated and I have to assume he did not fully read that particular study yet as any scholar would note how flawed that sample selection was.

I personally dont think thats the accurate number of cases. They should get data from different kinds of sources and compare them not just one source like John Hopkins.
