    This is simply a cable management solution-like Samsung’s One Connect box but with a wireless transmitter. I wonder how much stress a gaming console or a computer running at 4K/120Hz would put on the signal. I wouldn’t pay extra money for this feature though.

      I have a G3 and the included mount allows you to pull the TV away from the wall to mess with the cables and then pushes back in flush to the wall. You can solve this problem without going full wireless.

    • @pest174
      @pest174 Рік тому

      @geodim I know .... I used a mount I had already installed, and didn't want to drill more holes into the wall due to renting.
      I have every port filled, but as I moved things around with varying HDMI cable lengths and purposes. For example the gaming cable is 3 feet and the cinema is 6, but I had to rearrange the space and more the gaming console can only use the cinema and my streaming device is on the gaming cable.

      Well it sounded great until you read that HDMI 2.1 supports 48Gbps which is 6 gigabytes per second! Then you see the M3 and realize that it's all been a lie and HDMI 2.1 really only needs 100Mbps (12.5 megabytes per second) so kudos to LG for realizing that HDMI was simply blowing smoke up our posteriors for the past 20 years.

      This has been around for about 15 years now. I bought an LG 55LH85 TV back in 2009 with a wireless box that worked just like this. I was able to setup the box in my bedroom to hookup my desktop and ps3 to it, but had the TV in my living room just outside mybedroom.
      This allowed me to easily switch back and forth between gaming in my living room and gaming in my bedroom, without having to move my PC or PS3 from one room to the next.

    Not crazy about the stand because you can’t put a sound bar close to the TV. You have to give the stand space which you really don’t have that much of on certain cabinets that this TV can sit on.

    I love the channel. The research, presentation and production values are awesome but why do the audio levels have to fluctuate so wildly in your videos?

    • @Caleb_Denison
      @Caleb_Denison Рік тому

      We are working on that! In this case, I had to record a separate intro with a different audio recorder. For the unboxing portion, we used a new wireless mic setup that had unexpected noise floor issues, so that audio for that segment had to be treated, which is not normal. But for many videos, it’s one mic, one setup, so there should be no fluctuations. We appreciate that this stuff gets noticed and we are working on getting the best audio dialed in. Give us about a week and a half and let us know if you hear the difference?! BTW, do you use headphones when you watch our videos? Or speakers? Or just your phone or TV speakers?

    • @LeezahB
      @LeezahB Рік тому

      @@Caleb_DenisonI frequently notice some fluctuations (mostly subtle) in sound on your videos. I actually watched this three times: 1) On my Sony TV through the speakers hooked up to my old Pioneer AVR; 2) Casted from my iPhone to my Marantz Model 40N, and 3) just on the iPhone. The results were less noticeable on the iPhone. For the other two: Sound on the Intro was full and fairly loud; the unboxing section was loud, full and at times slightly muffled depending on your position; for the review section in your A-roll position, the sound was slightly thinner, a little more distant and the volume was lower; for the B-roll, where you inserted a small portion of your G3 review related to its sound, your audio was louder and fuller again (more similar to your intro section). Hey, I am not sure if this aligns with your findings, or if you will even see this, but I thought you might find it helpful and I am actually a little nerdy!🤣🥰

      @@Caleb_Denison I typically watch your videos on my home desktop computer, with the audio played through a small pair of Pioneer shelf speakers. I look forward to watching many more videos of you struggling to unbox large-screen TVs in the future. Cheers.

    There is another video installing a wireless TV, where it was obvious the signal drops significantly once there's a person with an iPhone in a pocket in between, which was reflected on the setup screen immediately. Also, take in account the noise, which may depend on the environment. E.g. how many WiFi networks and Bluetooth devices are around, how intensively the networks are used. I think, the box has to be placed in a meter or two from a TV, idealy in the cabinet below the TV.

    I can’t with LG and their marketing department! Zero connect box. Samsung has a One Connect box, since you still have to use a single cable to connect the panel. Since this is fully wireless, zero. Haha. Overall this seems to be the future. I’m happy if this becomes mass market tech.
    Great video Caleb! Hope everything is well!

    • @techsamurai11
      @techsamurai11 Рік тому

      Agreed - it does seem to be the future - I also don't understand the whole HDMI 2.1 which says it supports 48Gbps but clearly the Zero Connect Box can render 4k images with a connection that's sub 1Gbps which is 48 times lower than the cable supports...

    • @gavriushka
      @gavriushka Рік тому +2

      @@techsamurai11 well that’s not particularly correct. Although the cable can transfer up to 48Gbs, Xbox and PS5 for example are both limited to 40Gbs, plus that includes a ton of lanes not only for picture, but also for sound (which takes quite a bit of that, especially for surround codecs), security protocols and such. Plus, if the image sent from the box to the panel itself, can be compressed to smaller size, then decompressed within the panel itself, it makes sense it only needs a certain level of bandwidth to work.

    • @techsamurai11
      @techsamurai11 Рік тому

      @@gavriushkaExactly, which is why I chose 40Gbps to keep it easier.
      Dolby Atmos audio maxes out at 18Mbps - I didn't mention it because it is less than 0.01% of the 48Gbps throughput - it's non-existent. 😁
      Security must be nothing - tokens or such.
      Even with a UHD at full transfer rates, we're left with 99.7% of the capability of an HDMI 2.1 cable unaccounted for.
      It's a lot to be unaccounted for.
      I've never questioned it until the M3 because clearly this is not wirelessly transmitting 5 Gigabytes per second. Even the PS5 cannot do that in a direct SSD to SSD transfer.

    For the soundbar issue Lg has the Lg Wowcast. You can connect the soundbar (from lg which supports wowcast like the S80QY) without any wires to the tv and supports lossless dolby atmos. They implemented i think 2022. There are videos about it

      Anyone paying $30k for this TV will not be using a soundbar. They’ll almost definitely putting this in a home theater with and have a proper speaker setup, sound proofing, etc.

    Caleb, thank you for this! Great first video on the new tech! For your consideration, two things:
    1. I am disappointed that you didn't test more scenarios with objects in between. Primarily, I was hoping you would test signal when the Box is in another room. If I were to get an M3, I would look for it to be 10-15 feet away, but in the next room or in a closet, i.e. with a wall in between the box and the set.
    2. Did you consider that you are perceiving the M3's sound to be better than the G3's sound because now you're in a different studio that is acoustically treated? (Or does the M3 really have different audio tech than the G3?)

      It doesn't work if the box is in another room. It practically requires a direct line of sight to the point that the antennas inside the box have to be directed towards the receiver on the television (hence the rotating thingy on the top). If you put any obstructions between the box and the receiver you're affecting the signal as you can see from his demonstration that just by covering the receiver end with your hand can cause dropped frames.

    How does hdmi connection with a soundbar work?

  • @virgil3241
    @virgil3241 Рік тому +1

    But if its taking a hard wired connection of HDMI, is it outputting the same as the input? Or is it a downgrade of the signal so it can handle the capacity of the Wi-Fi. I do like the concept of this, but are you "getting out" the same as you are "putting in"

      @tim3172 Рік тому

      "handle the capacity of the wifi"
      It's not WiFi. WiFi is 802.11x. This is Wireless Display, formerly WiDi.
      This television has some of the best picture quality you can buy.
      I'm, honestly, baffled that you think you can achieve top-tier picture quality if there is a wireless deficiency.
      "Sure, the display is great. The picture is spectacular, and it's now just behind ultra-high end offerings from Sony by a slim margin... but what if I'm smarter than the engineers and know there's a fundamental problem with this that actually makes the picture I'm seeing not as good as the picture I'm seeing?"
      It's a 52Gbps signal. HDMI 2.1 is either 40 or 48Gbps.

    i am guessing they will do a version of this where the Box can also be connected with a data cable, for someone like me i do not want to have to deal with this but i like having a separate box like this because from a replacement and support stand point the who damn tv does not need to be replaced in most cases.

    I don't understand the point of this. Sure, it eliminates visible peripheral cables when wall mounted but.. there's still a big fat power cable dangling? Why spend all this money and still have a visible cable when you can spend like $10 on a drywall saw and a couple channel plates, and just run the cables through the wall?

    I’m not getting why this is such a wonder. If most midrange TVs like TCL and Hisense are able to let you “cast” or use “AirPlay” - isn’t that “wireless” TV when you are streaming content on your device but watching it on the big screen? I imagine LG’s device has a TV tuner in it - but most networks also have apps for your device. So why is this special and why aren’t other makers shedding some of the bulk and cost of traditional TV in favour of wireless?
