Hello, thank you for watching my video and your answer. I use friction polish to finish the vessel to a shine. When the lathe is stationary, I apply the friction polish evenly to the workpiece. Then I polish it by pushing a cloth against the workpiece as the lathe turns; the friction creates heat, which hardens the friction polish as you polish the surface to a shine. I use friction polishing from chestnut products.
You only have a thin layer of wood left. It seems like a bit of a risk to me to make it so thin and not accidentally cut through a knot or other irregularity in the wood.
