Quality as Always . ............. Wish we were getting the same weather , Ever get any Moray's ? What era is the wreck from am intrigued WW2 era or later ?
Fishing off the Brittany coast when about the same age as your James. Mum snagged the bottom. The skipper said she had a conger and that I should be put in the fish barrel. Skipper was huge so was the bloomin fish...I watched from the roof of the boat. Once on board the conger was whacked about five times with a table leg filled with lead and still wouldn’t die. Couldn’t get it into the boot of the very small rental car so gave it to the fisherman for soup.

Absolutely lovely day out there. Earlier in the video, you wouldn't have been able to tell sea from sky if it weren't for the clouds. You said ling are part of the cod family? Do they taste similarly, or do they have their own distinct taste? Also, thank you for explaining how you dispatch them. Quick and as painless as possible. And that one conger was huge! Super slimy, too, he was. They definitely look like they've got some good fight in them.

John, I'm interested in your anchoring technique. We see you feeding out the role from midships but presumably it's fastened to the bow. Do you fasten a bow rope to your anchor rope or go around the cuddy to fasten ( probably not as it's pretty risky ) ? Cheers Jon

Haha thank you! I'm glad that you find our content informative and he sure will
Massive school of mackerel came in today, full houses all around, fished until early morning caught my first thorn back ray off the pier, it was an absolute beast, it’s now 2:30AM I’ve got work in 6 hours and you’ve just uploaded, fucken hell what a day 😂
- Haha. Result!! Well done on the ray. 😊
That weather is amazing. And that sea at 6:13 is stunning. Bit jealous, cause all we've been getting in the Midlands is grey and wet.
I'd happily take some grey and wet. I'm in Texas, and it's been about 106° F, and dry as ever. If we don't get rain before too long, the drought'll be back with a vengeance...
@@therepairsloth We'd happily trade.
Staggering sea. Like a mill pond. I'm colourblind but even I can appreciate that colour.
- On a good day there is no better place on Earth I don’t think 😊💙
As my eldest lad would say John, your in-laws are going to be well pleased with that catch...
- Haha. I adore my father in law. He gets most of our catches if we don't eat it our selves. 😊
Always give a thumbs up even before I watch coz never disappointed..just great stuff always😅😅😅
Thank you so much John it's really appreciated :)
Great videos. On iur harbour one of the staff says we cant target or land cobga eel in 2021. Have you heard this . Kit
You have always been allowed to land conger eels? There has never been a restriction on them. They are just worthless at market.
Quality as Always . ............. Wish we were getting the same weather , Ever get any Moray's ?
What era is the wreck from am intrigued WW2 era or later ?
- We don't get any Morays in the UK. I don't know about this wrecks history tbh, most are wartime wrecks though.
Brilliant video, masterclass in wreck fishing and you Absolutely are Not a muppet!! More please!!
- Haha. Thanks Howard. I do love my wreck fishing. 😊
Fantastic video! It occurred to me during the video that your new hoodie caption might be:
Jus’ like at !
- Haha.
How are you not wearing shades? 😎 this is so fucking interesting. Makes me want to buy a boat.
- I do wear sunglasses but only when I'm staring at the water a lot. Otherwise I don't really like wearing them. 😊
I smile all the way through your VideosLove them all.!
I am glad you enjoy them
Always a bit of a laugh, always an education!. Nice one!... 🙂
Glad you enjoyed the video mate.
Great video as always john. Have you ever tried conger to eat. Silver eels are nice but never tried conger.
- I’ve tried it a couple of times Neil. Not a fan of I’m honest.
Conga ratulations on a great session, cheers.
- Thank you very much, I am glad you enjoyed joining me. 😊
My biggest conger was 105.5 lbs made the conger club of gb that was out of Penzance had a day to remember had 10 conger 50lb plus the same day
- Impressive. When was this?
Fishing off the Brittany coast when about the same age as your James. Mum snagged the bottom. The skipper said she had a conger and that I should be put in the fish barrel. Skipper was huge so was the bloomin fish...I watched from the roof of the boat. Once on board the conger was whacked about five times with a table leg filled with lead and still wouldn’t die. Couldn’t get it into the boot of the very small rental car so gave it to the fisherman for soup.
- Haha. Yeah they are very tough fish. Ive known them be alive and being after and entire day in the fish box.
It would be great if you got a head cam or something. Give another angle 👍
- Head cams not only make you look like a div but you literally have to point your whole head at where you want the camera.Haha. Have a watch of the shark video. There are several different camera angles used in that video and see what you think ?
Hi there Young John, if you are laying out 400 plus feet of rope. How much line do you carry?
- 600ft.
Hi there Young Mr Fish Locker and junior. Thank you for that.
You have a great channel. Underwater camera! I wanna see those big ones come up from the deep.
- The water is too deep to put a camera on the seabed and as I film solo it isn’t really possible to film and reel in a monster.
Be interesting if you could identify the wrecks that you’re fishing on. If that possible. Thanks.
- If I did that then everyone would know where I was fishing Michael.
The Fish Locker Yup. Understandable. Wish to keep your spots a secret. Good stuff.🇨🇦
Certainly don't want to take away from fishing time. Love it. Lol
- No you don't.haha. 👍
- It was a great day, cod and long taste different but equally tasty. Cod are flaky and ling are more fibrous. Conger are great fun to catch, you should try it if you get the chance. 😊
Another great day of catching looks fun! That water was socio calm in the begining you could ski on it.😜👍🐟😄
Yes it was! Stay safe mate :)
PSA - Your card at 4:45 says "Now to Anchor a Wreck"...should be "How.." Love the video!
- Thanks Tyler. Haha. I’m really glad you’ve said that as I hate that type of thing.
Looks a beautiful day for wrecking John and some lovely fish buddy I’m out reckon next weekend English channel, as I said to you last week took the old man out fishing in Chichester harbour and we did get him a bass a nice 4’pounder bless the old boy he can still do it!! Hope you’re good John all the best to you and the family top video as always cheers my friend! 👍🇬🇧🎣
- Plenty of life in the old sea dog then. 😊 Wonderful to hear mate. Good luck out on the wrecks mate.
Class John matey love wreck fishing hopefully get out myself on Sunday on a few mark off seaham all the best form Sunderland 👍
- Good luck mate. There are conger up there but folks just don't target them properly.
We add 2 20 plus conger Last weekend and a 33 ling plus a few smaller ones all the fish fell to wrecking rigs loaded up with whiting and squid and some snap glow sticks on aswell great stuff John matey loved the Scotland skate video we go to burrowhead camp site and fish of the rocks it’s wick of Pollock and thorn backs the harbour is a great spot for rays at low water cos of all the razor clam beds love it up there matey
Cracking vid mate and some bangers there ! Nice one
- Thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed the video. 👍🏻🎣
John,
I'm interested in your anchoring technique. We see you feeding out the role from midships but presumably it's fastened to the bow. Do you fasten a bow rope to your anchor rope or go around the cuddy to fasten ( probably not as it's pretty risky ) ?
Cheers Jon
- I sometimes have a bow rope already attached ( if I can be bothered ) if not then I throw a coil over the buddy roof and go through the forward hatch. 😊
Well done for keeping this a family show and controlling yourself when you were about to swear. As with all your content fantastic video packed with tips and fish and some great scenery. I've now got my wife and my mother watching your videos and I am sure both will be subscribing. Your coastal foraging and exploring videos are of huge interest to my mother as she explored Cornwall with my father for over 50 years. My father started writing a book (with photos) of Cornish Wells as they are quite unique, unfortunately he never got to finish it. As always thanks for posting.
- It is our pleasure David. haha. Yes I try my best to keep the curse words out of it.lol. I frequently have to edit James' out!! Haha.
Omg John i would be so scared to even hold that eel lol. Do people even fish and eat these? Scary eel
Conger eat well. Used eat them in Morocco. Delicious
- Not many people in the UK eat conger eel now, mostly just fish for sport.
Awesome video! Do you guys get White Sharks or Bull Sharks?
- No we don’t. Just blues, Porbeagles, threshers and the occasional mako.
Can i ask You why not taking conger to table isnt tasty?
Conger is not a good eating fish.
how can you tell if its a fish on, or you're stuck on the wreck?
- The fish pulls back.
@@TheFishLocker cheers mate... can you use a 5oz lead on a 20/30lb ugly stik? Bairn finds it too heavy to reel in with an 8oz
What a beautiful day. Love the videos. Mom and I hope the FL family is doing well.
- Thank you Nia, yes we are all doing ok. James is loving school and we are just trying to take it as it comes. I hope you guys are well and healthy?😊
Love your videos!! One question occured: Have you ever caught a released fish twice? ;-) Wish you the best!
- There is an area of reef that my friend and I fished a lot last year and there was one stumpy eel there that had part of its tail bitten off that we caught half a dozen times over the year. 😊
Great 👍🏻 now sitting down to eat dinner thanks for posting
- It is our pleasure, I am glad you enjoyed the videos. 😊🎣
Didn't realise they had leaches in the sea lol. Mad one!
Have a watch of our skate fishing videos. 😉
Great video John thoroughly enjoyed watching. 🎣👍
- Thank you Simon, it is our pleasure. 😊🎣
Can you eat long I thought they were part of the cod family if that makes sense.
- Yes you can, there is a catch and cook video on the channel. 😊
