- We have another Battlebots Crossover Event! This week we are hanging out with Current Judge and Former Competitor Derek Young and his robot Complete Control!
You may remember Complete Control as the first Suplex Grappler from the Comedy Central era of Battlebots, where the robot managed to make the finals of Season 4.0. You may also remember some epic moments from ABC Battlebots when he barbecued Bombshell and fought a break-dancing Warhead.
In this episode we ask Derek all of the questions you've been wondering. Will Derek be making a future return? Where does Complete Control live out retirement?
We also wrap up with a special 1 v 1 battle between Zach and Derek in the BOTBASH ARENA!!!

I love everything about this video. It has everything. Heavyweights, build talk, cameos from old bots, awesome design features (honestly the ‘hypodermic injector’ idea is genius), giant nuts and cool mini robots fighting, that grapple lift walker is a BEAST!
It would be cool if we got an exhibition match between the judges just for the fun of it.
This was awesome! Seeing Complete Control in myriad forms was so nostalgic, i recall the great bots from comedy central era. Some legend bots.
Mentioning many bots, Pressure Drop and Son of Smashy, Hazard.
Like when i was watching old fights with Minion and Mechavore and Biohazard , Dissector, Tazbot, Vlad the Impaler. Many i cant even remember the names but can picture them in my mind.
Man those were some crazy fights in old days.
Watching Derek beat you with that Hexbug.
The guy still got it. Hope he returns to fight someday.
This was honestly an awesome throwback to the CC era as well as ABC. It was cool to get a judge's perspective on how it is to watch fights. Definitely a very scary job.
Complete control had such a powerful flamethrower.
I want to see Complete Control making robot S'more again
This was such a welcome hit of nostalgia and wholesomeness. God, how I miss Complete Control and Derek's sheer inventiveness. He rarely seems to get mentioned in the same tier as Hutson, Carlberg, etc. but as far as I'm concerned he ranks right up there as a builder and driver.
I always thought a three-way "Battle of the Judges" on the reboot would be great. Pull Complete Control, Mega Tento and Disk-O-Inferno out of storage, rebuild, upgrade and give us a rumble to honor their machines one last time before they're retired for good.
Also, that beetleweight walker is crazy! Evil little mechanized scarab. It's fascinating to me how the speed differential of walkers doesn't matter nearly as much in the smaller weight classes.
I love the idea of the chisel weapon, get the pulverizer to do the work, genius
I can totally see the pulverizer getting impaled while the enemy bot remains intact. Those things are hollow.

This video brings back some real nostalgia for me seeing old Complete Control. I remember seeing Battlebots on Comedy Network in Canada as a kid. One of the first matches I saw was Pressure Drop vs STCWR. I remember seeing that Derek was originally from the same city as I was and being so excited, then watching him win the fight. Complete Control was one of my favourite bots as a kid. Glad to see he still has the original robot, still inscribed with EAST VAN: EXPECT NO MERCY. It meant a lot to see my city represented on such a global stage.

I miss complete control! One of my all time favorite bots and has one of the best moments of BattleBots with the hold and burning of bombshell
That was cool! Derek was my first ever in life fighting robot opponent, 20 years ago. (He won.)
Id never want to see the old bots be destroyed, but, it would be highly interesting to see some of the old bots like vlad, in the ring with some of the newer ones like skorpios, tombstone, sawblaze, ect... Can you believe that sheet metal used to be all the armor one needed.

Complete Control is my favourite robot of all time. It's a shame it never got to the fight night format of the show. That would've been great fun to see.

Expect no mercy!
I remember seeing Darrick and his walking hammer bot (Pressure Drop?) at the Phoenix BotBash in 2001. I was competing with a 13lb Kram, my first ever event. Jason was at that event as well.
Why doesnt this have many thousands of views!? Where the bot warrior fans?
Man i would love to see complete control come back. Always been a classic bot with still great lifting power
3:19 at least he asked derek and not lisa, uppercut seems it wants to throw every bot (or at least parts of it) towards her.
Complete control needs to return
When I was young, I once built a model of Pressure Drop (Because it looked cool even though it was a bit sluggish) using a large cereal box, paper, a couple of cardboard tubes and a lot of cellotape. It didn't stand very well (Stood better than my model of Gammatron) but it was a decent attempt.
I love that weapon concept, shame it was never used. Also when you think about it, in a way Pressure Drop was the S5 version of Chomp years earlier, I know shuffler vs true walker and not even in the same weight class but just the walking turret hammer bot part of things
